England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI

Although England haven't finished with the Windies yet and don't start with Australia until next Friday I'll start the thread now as the Aussies head to Ireland on Saturday for a match which is live on Sky. Once they've finished in Ireland they take on England in a 5 match ODI series. It's always competitive cricket when England and Australia meet and I'm sure the 5 matches will whet the appetite ahead of next summer. All five ODI's are live on Sky in the UK and if the weather fcuks off then there should be some cracking bets to be had. Schedule: [TABLE=width: 630]

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI ODI series preview: 4pts England to win ODI series Evs Skybet

I think this series will be a really tight series but the one thing which could be the difference in the two sides is the strength of England’s top three in these conditions. Any one of the three can make 100’s and when they do it sets up a score which England’s attack can defend. Full preview here:

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI 1st ODI preview: 4pts England to win 1st ODI Evs Blue Square

I just about favour England in these conditions. This Australia batting line up looks a batsman light to me if Steve Smith does bat as high as six in the side. While he and Wade can hit it at 6 and 7 if they are four down early they would be in real trouble. England have more batting depth and their seam attack will be itching to show they are still better than anything Australia provide. Full preview here:

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI 3 outrights for me in this series. 2pts I.Bell Top England Series Batsman 3/1 BetVictor I like Ian Bell opening the batting for England in this series. Now that the rules have permitted a new ball from each end the ball stays harder for a lot longer and that benefits Ian Bell who doesn't have to smash it early on, his good cricket shots will bring him runs. With the two new balls England have realised that slogging in the powerplay is a pointless exercise and we saw in the ODI series with the West Indies that Bell can score quickly without trying to over force the pace. Speaking of pace he will face a lot of that early on here so his nudges and flicks should be able to find gaps for him to rotate the strike and then when the bad ball comes he can smack it away. Obviously England bat a long way down but the way the top three are batting now I expect some big runs to come from them. Cook has the captaincy to deal with which is a big thing against Australia and Trott is at 3 so I'll take Ian Bell to lead the run charts in this series for the home side. 1.5pts ew D.Hussey Top Australia Series Batsman 6/1 Ladbrokes (1/4 1-3) David Hussey is a batsman I like a lot and unlike a few of his colleagues on this tour he has bags of experience of batting in English conditions. He will have batted on all these grounds for Nottinghamshire at one time or another and that can give him a significant advantage in the series in my eyes. In the two warm up matches he has already scored quicker than a run a ball in both matches, a 60 odd in the second game at Essex and he was second in both innings so when the runs are totted up I don't think he'll be far away. If all goes to plan he'll be in for the batting powerplay and having spent the last 5-6 years putting English bowlers to the sword at the end of innings for Nottinghamshire with great success I will take David Hussey to do the same in this series and with the each way terms on offer he looks a cracking each way punt in the Australia run lists this series. 1pt S.Watson Top Australia Series Bowler 8/1 Stan James This is a speculative punt but not without its reasons. I don't think Shane Watson is that bad a bowler as it goes. I saw him bowl a lot when he played for Hampshire years ago and it is an underrated part of his game. I expect him to come on and strange England and when you strangle batsmen the pressure put on them often leads to them doing something stupid and you can get wickets which you've earned which might be classed as cheap wickets. The other reason I like Watson here is I would imagine Australia will rest and rotate all their quicks on this tour but I'd be surprised if Watson misses any matches because he brings so much to the party with the bat. I would think he will bowl in every match and so 8/1 at the end of the series might look a big price if he can go through England in one of the matches which is perfectly possible.

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI And three for the opening ODI. 4pts Australia Highest 1st 15 Overs 10/11 Stan James I'm surprised bookmakers can't split the two sides at the top of the innings because both sides play it in different ways. Australia have a couple of biffers in at the top in Warner and Watson and if either one of those get going they can rack up a serious 15 over score let alone if both of them get going. Should both get going then you can forget about it because they will be away and gone. England don't play it like that. They just take what's there really and I'm not sure too much will be there against Lee and Hilfenhaus. Even Cummins coming on first change will need some respect because England won't have seen him before whereas the Aussies have faced all of England's attack. None of England's top 3 are naturally quick scorers while Chris Gayle showed that England's first 15 overs can be attacked. These two won't attack to that extent but they are both competent hitters of a cricket ball and so I expect Australia to lead after 15 overs before England come back at them. 4pts Australia Most 6's 11/10 BetVictor Pretty self explanatory this one. If all goes to plan for England then their top four will see off most of the overs and none of the top four are what you would call natural hitters on any ground let alone a big one like Lords. Contrast that with Australia who have a couple of biffers at the top and then four of five big hitters in the lower middle order and tail. While England's bowling attack is a very good one it can go round the park at times, as the West Indies showed and with the likes of Warner, Watson, Hussey, Smith, Wade and even the likes of Lee and McKay/Johnson if they play then Australia are well equipped in the six hitting department. For England it's only really Morgan and Kieswetter with a bit of Bresnan and Broad who are natural big hitters so Australia out do England with the six hitters and they will bring a lot more pace with them to the party in this match so they will be very hard to score sixes off. I think odds against on Australia hitting the most sixes looks a good bet to me even at Lords. 0.5pts ew T.Bresnan Top England Batsman 28/1 Coral (1/5 1-3) Bit of a speculative one this but Bresnan might want to prove a point in this match after Shane Watson came out and said we lack balance with Bresnan at 7. He's a decent enough batsman in his own right and if all goes to plan he should only be in for the last few overs but with a bit of cloud cover around at Lords on Friday and a bit of humidity the ball could talk for a bit and a couple of players could get good ones early and go cheaply. We saw against the Windies that Bresnan can put his foot on the gas and he has a couple of second placed finishes in ODI's on this ground in the past. Wickets do fall here because it is a good cricket wicket with something in it for everyone so Bresnan has every chance of batting and if things have gone tits up for England then he would be a big price to top score. He's still well over 5/1 to place which isn't out of question at all so on this particular ground where wickets do fall I'll chance the Yorkshireman who as I say might want to prove something and shut a certain loudmouth up.

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI 2nd ODI preview: 4pts Australia to win 2nd ODI 19/20 Stan James

If Australia sort out that ridiculous notion of batting Steve Smith at six then I think they can level the series here. They have a perfect batting line up for the wicket at The Oval and the pace in their bowling attack will make scoring difficult for the English batsmen on this wicket. Full preview here:

England are the form side going into the 2nd match and should win this won easily, Australia are experimenting in getting the right mix and this kind of tournament is not the time to be trying new things.

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI Bets for the 2nd ODI for me. Apologies for the short notice. Was leaving it as long as I could to see if Anderson plays. Toss soon so only short write ups. 4pts Australia Highest 1st 15 Overs 10/11 Stan James No need to elaborate on what I said for the Lords game. Everything in that game applies here and if Anderson doesn't play then that only favours Australia further in the first 15 overs. 4pts England Over 21.5 4's Evs Ladbrokes England hit 21 4's at Lords in an innings which couldn't get going for 10 overs with all the rain delays. On a much better ground for scoring boundaries and a wicket with pace in it I expect more England fours in this match. Patrick Cummins isn't playing in this match so his replacement will be rusty and that should only lead to more England fours here. 3pts M.Wade's Performance Pts - 38&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 25pts per stumping. Matthew Wade had a decent enough game at Lords with a catch and 27 runs and I expect him to go just as well again here. This wicket might turn a bit so he could easily get a stumping if the likes of Bell, Bopara or Morgan come down the track and play round one. He can cover this with the bat and catches could come his way so this looks a line which is perfectly within reach. 1pt P.Forrest Man of the Match 25/1 Bet365 This looks a big price for a guy who always bats at three when he plays. The talk is he'll replace the specialist fielder Steve Smith here so that's a positive and if he bats 3 he'll become a pretty big price. In only 11 innings at ODI level he already has three 50's and a 100 and if he can score a few today he'll give the man of the match a good run.

England look the better side in all three formats of the game and I see no reason that won’t continue in this fourth ODI. Full preview here:

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI -5.36 for me in this series so far although a couple of the outrights are doing ok. Taking three for Saturday's ODI. This one and two more. Leaving Australia 1st 15 overs alone in case Watson's sh1t himself at Lumley Castle again :lol:lol

4th ODI preview: 4pts England to beat Australia Evs Betfred

England look the better side in all three formats of the game and I see no reason that won’t continue in this fourth ODI. Full preview here:

4pts D.Warner's Performance Pts - Under 37 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. I've listed all three scoring methods there but we can forget about him bowling because conditions won't be suitable to his spin. So it's the bat and the field which count here and with all the rain that has been around I just don't see how this wicket is going to be good for batting against the new ball. The new ball usually does plenty on this ground after a good spell of weather but with so much rain this one is going to be slow, low and I would expect it to jag around. Of course there's two new balls now so Warner is going to have to really dig in which isn't his game. England's seam bowlers will thrive in these conditions so I expect Warner to get a real working over and there's no way I see him making 37 runs here. He does quite often take catches as he is an exceptional fielder and fields in the positions the ball regularly goes but even with catches I still don't see him scoring 37pts here so I'm happy to take the unders. 1pt T.Bresnan Man of the Match 18/1 Blue Square I think this is worth a go. General in ODI's bowlers don't get the man of the match award very often but in conditions which suit the bowlers I think this match might be one which bucks the trend. I've gone for Bresnan because he gets the ball to seam and swing, can get it reversing at the end of the innings and bowls at the death so can pick up some cheap wickets but primarily I think he can get stuck in with the new ball. In these conditions he could easily need to bat and maybe even score the winning runs or something. Bresnan will be a key player in this match so at 18/1 in bowling conditions makes sense to have a small bet.

Re: England vs Australia ODI Series & Ireland vs Australia ODI I was on England before the toss and evens is a massive price IMO. Winning that toss though is a big help and Australia are going to have very well to win this game.
