Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Apr 28 Blyth Spartans v Nuneaton The Blue Square North has been a difficult league to bet in this season as it has been pretty unpredictable at times. The fact that any one of eight teams can still fill the final relegation spot is proof of this. Blyth are one of the teams already relegated, however they have been playing pretty well of late and were impressive when beating Hinckley 3-0 last Saturday. The week before they gave champions Hyde a massive scare when unluckily losing 1-0. Nuneaton still need points to confirm themselves in the play-offs, but after impressing when trying to get the six deducted points back, they have been poor in their last two matches. They were both draws against Solihull and Colwyn Bay, but they could easily have lost both and if they perform like that I reckon Blyth could cause a bit an upset as they are playing much better with the pressure off. There seems very little downside to getting involved at BetVictor’s 21/5 on a home win in my view. Histon v Hyde We saw last week with Fleetwood that a team who have celebrated winning the title can take their foot off the gas and it wouldn’t surprise me if Hyde were to do that on Saturday. Histon still need the points to make sure they survive and they have the strike-force to score goals against any team at this level. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Hyde changed things around a little and I just find it hard to see them being up for the game now the trophy is in the bag. Obviously they deserve to be favourites but Histon have given a few of the top teams a scare and I am happy to invest at BetVictor’s 2/1. Stalybridge v Hinckley This is a fascinating game as both sides need to win. Stalybridge need three points to give them any chance of getting into the play-offs, something I am not sure they deserve to achieve given their form in 2012. Meanwhile Hinckley will probably go down with anything but three points. Their home form has been shocking, however they are actually top of the form table based on everyone’s last eight away games. They are unbeaten in their last seven on the road and have won five of them which is some going for a team in the relegation zone. Stalybridge have put in very few decent performances in recent months and given that, plus Hinckley’s form, I reckon the 19/5 on an away win is too big in what could be a very open game. Havant & Waterlooville v Staines Another team who have done well away from home and yet have been in a relegation battle are Staines. They are safely in the Blue Square South for another season although Havant are still under threat as they are only a point ahead of the relegation zone. If we look at the form table for the league based on the last eight away games five of the top six are five of the top seven in the actual table. Staines are the one team who are not in the top seven and have picked up a very good 16 points in that spell. Havant looked like they were improving after sacking their manager, but they have now lost their last three and were particularly poor against a weakened Farnborough on Saturday. If Staines can perform like they have been on the road of late I can see them beating their hosts despite the fact they need the points more and Blue Square’s 2/1 on an away win looks worth taking.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Apr 28 Dover Athletic away at Weston-super-Mare (5/4 Coral) It's looking like Weston are going into this one with a very youthful look after they lost both central defenders at Staines to season-ending injuries. They actually performed okay in that one, although they lost and they've now just one win in 16. What you don't need is Dover coming into town - ten games unbeaten on the road, scoring in every game. Given Weston's recent record and the fact that Dover are the best performing away side in the section since Christmas, I'd make them a 4/5 shot. The price is excellent. Workington away at Worcester City (7/4 widespread) A risk, given that Workington are making a habit of playing well and not winning - they gave themselves a mountain to climb to get something out of the game against Corby before deservedly drawing 3-3 away, and last week at home they outplayed a Histon side who didn't get out their own half. But it's six unbeaten and an overnight stay for this one will help preparation. Worcester have had a great season but have stumbled at home, with only two goals in four and only a 1-0 win over whipping-boys Eastwood. Bromley away at Dorchester Town (2/1 10Bet) Nothing at stake here, but Bromley have been excellent away since the turn of the year, with only defeats at Woking, Basingstoke and Welling, and some good wins along the way, though they - like Worko - have a tendency not to finish sides off. Dorchester are tailing off badly with three straight defeats after some late-season personnel changes and though my own price has them as marginal favourites, Bromley's price is lot closer.
