Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th ..... Great chance for us here. This has to be three points or nothing for us. We're eight points adrift, although I couldn't back us with stolen money at the minute because everything seems to be going against us right now. We're not creating the chances, not getting the decisions, players are leaving etc. Brighton's first at the weekend should have not stood as there was a blatant hand ball leading up to the goal, so much so it has sparked rumours of a conspiracy against us! Normally I'd plump for the unders here, but I think given the fact this is a must win game there could be something in the overs. If we can even start creating chances. Should be easier though at home as we are much stronger here. I think tbh the odds are a fair reflection of two relegation threatened sides scrapping it out. Hayden Mullins has gone to Reading, as well as Stephen Henderson to West Ham. So, again, we should be left with no goalkeeper on the bench (unless we sign a replacement on loan before Saturday). We'd have been even more worse off had Millwall's move for Jamie Ashdown gone through... Team news wise I think it will be as you were from last Saturday (providing we see no further departures, but with Ipswich apparently still keen on Jason Pearce it is always a possibility). We may possibly see Marko Futacs being dropped to the bench as he's looked a bit of a forlorn figure over the last few games. Loan signing striker Chris McGuire could come in.

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th I think Palace are too short to win as they have some issues with the defence as Clyne and Gardner are expected to be out and McShane isnt eligible. Palace defence has been strong all season, but that might cause a problem. Zaha was sent off last week , so he will be missed too. Hull won very well at Cardiff in the week, so even though Palace don' lose many at home the 3.1 for Hull to win looks tempting. Need to check out the handicaps to cover the draw Hull at 0.5 is 1,52 with b365, nothing else priced up

Took Hull AH0 2.12 Pinnacle 5/10 Good price for a strong away team. This year Hull didn´t lose at Reading, Birmingham, Blackpool and Cardiff, so it´s hard to imagine that an average home side (6-8-2 18:10 goals) like Palace will beat them, but of course the draw can´t be excluded here since both have a strong defense and don´t concede easiliy. They might cancel each other out. Moreover the H2H shows many draws. Yet Hull should have a stronger motivation being in 6th place already whereas chances for Palace to reach a playoff-spot look a little limited (and they might feel it).

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th West Ham AH0 1.93 Pinnacle 4/10 West Ham is the strongest away side in this league (58% away wins/50% home). Last two away they beat Blackpool and Cardiff. Now they face an improved Leeds (as far as their defense is concerned) but I´m not too impressed by their away win at Boro who are average at home. Leeds lost too many home games this season vs. strong sides and I think a draw is all they can hope for. Both teams are in need of points but the Hammers will handle the pressure better...

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th Reading (away at Barnsley) @ evens (StanJames) Very impressive away record against clubs in the bottom half (6-2-2). Despite slipping up in mid-week at Doncaster, they are still in brilliant form and are one of the best sides in the division. Barnsleys home record against clubs in the top half is 3-1-4, and they haven't kept a clean sheet in any of those games. Southampton (away at Millwall) @ 23/20 (sportingbet) Similar reasons to the above. Southampton have a good away record at bottom-half clubs (5-3-2) whilst Millwall at home to top-half clubs isn't impressive (0-3-4). Millwall have also failed to score in 4 of those game, although Southampton have only kept 3 clean sheets. The saints seem to be over their mid-season slump and I think they'll keep their impressive run of form going here, as they'll also be out for revenge for the FA Cup defeat. Watford (home to Coventry) @ evens (boylesports) Really surprised by these odds, the only reason I can think for them being this long is that Coventry desperately need the points. Watford home form vs bottom half (6-1-2) plays Coventrys away at bottom half (0-1-7). Coventry have failed to score in 6 of those 8.

Tough to back against Warnock though, with his first win under his belt at Leeds. Apparently, Leeds were unlucky to lose at home to Southampton in their last home game, and I think West Ham will find it very hard to win here.

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th I'm allover Leeds here @ a best price 7/4 VCBet, I actually went to Upton Park to watch the hammers against Palace a few weeks ago and they looked pretty much out of ideas. They then went to Cardiff and won but since then another two home draws which isn't convincing, true their away form is excellent but this Leeds side looks to have picked up under Warnock, defensively they've been sound seeing just one goal past them in their last four league matches. They were unlucky not to get something from the Southampton match which I see on sky and then followed that up with a very good win at 4th placed Middlesborough. They still have hopes of a promotion spot and I think are a decent bet to turn over West Ham today.

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th Watford @ Evens with Bet 365 I have to agree with lukeleeds91, as I just cannot fathom why the home side aren't heavy odds-on here. Watford are a tough team to call at times, but their results against teams below them in the table this season have been remarkably consistent, with just 3 defeats from 16 games, and they come into this match on the back of a 3 game unbeaten run including a win at Derby last weekend. Defender Dale Bennett is the only fresh injury concern for Watford, whilst Martin Taylor and Ross Jenkins could both be in line for a return. In contrast, Coventry have the worst away record in the division, having lost 10 in a row away from the Ricoh Arena in the league. They last took a point on their travels at Doncaster on 29 October. Worryingly, McSheffrey is reported to be struggling with a thigh strain. They'll obviously want to patch him up and get him out on the pitch if there's any chance he can play a part, but with their most creative player struggling and their appalling away record, there's obvious value on the home side here.

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th

Meeting: Portsmouth - Bristol City Type: Bristol City to over 1.5 goals Rate: 2.90 Bookmaker: Expekt Rate: 6/10 The result: Analysis: It seems to me that this may be your best bet for this Saturday's day ... And so we begin to be able to bring you - the readers of this analysis of why I think so. At 16:00 the meeting will start at Fratton Park, where impossibly mired in the Depression, Portsmouth will take a little above that are Bristol City. All indications are that "The Pompey 'fall from the Championship and it is conceivable that even in League One would be hard for them to keep ... Why? Maybe it's because the club was not going to be interesting ... As long as the club played teams from loans, which constituted the strength of the team, it is now all of a sudden like a bolt of lightning went back to their clubs. From loans returned to their clubs, including midfielder Hayden Mullins (34/1), the last meeting for "The Pompeys," played March 6 this year in the defeat of Reading 0:1, but this is not the end ... To their clubs with the loan back - midfielder Liam Lawrence (23/0), Andre striker Erik Huseklepp (27/6), passed away in recent days as the primary keeper team from Fratton Park - Stephen Handerson (25/0). Despite these shortcomings, there are also injuries - striker Kanu (10/0), another striker Mwaruwari (18/1). As you can see Portsmouth situation looks worse and worse, their composition from day to day is becoming smaller and more fragile ... It is possible that as many as 5 players from the Academy will have to sit on the reserve ... Bristol City, also did not knock this season 21 position in the league and a constant struggle to maintain, and just three points clear of Doncaster Rovers, who are already relegated. Michael Appleton for dependents will certainly be a chance to jump away from the relegation zone as Doncaster Rovers will be measured in this kolejcez Derby County and all indications are that it will also be hard for them to get a full pot in this meeting. But this I will describe in another analysis of the meeting. In the first half of the season Bristol City at home 0-0 zremisowało from Portsmouth, but then was composed of, inter alia, Mullins, Lawrence, Kanu now run out of players and more ... what I wrote. It's hard to expect anything when plunged into crisis team "The Pompey". I think Bristol City stand to win and to score at least two goals ...

Ta[/quote'] As above, long suffering Pompey fan :eyes The key was in the reference to Pompey players, and recent games we have played ;) Anyway, twenty minutes to kick off.... Futacs does indeed drop to the bench, in comes McGuire. I quite fancy us today as Bristol City have lost their last last five away fixtures, scoring zero in the process. This is a three pointer for us, anything less than the win isn't going to do us any good. So, I'm backing us to get the win buoyed on by a packed Fratton Park.

2 out of 3. Probably the one I was most confident about let me down. The 9/1 treble wasn't far away.

Unbelievable. We literally threw everything but the kitchen sink at Bristol City today.... just can't score.
I think you will come out stronger from League One! I think this will do good to the team! Pompey was a Premier League side and now maybe you'll have the faith of Southampton and Norwich! At least this is what I expect from this side!

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th For me it pretty much depends how quickly they can sort out their financial and organisational side of things. Sorry Jase, but to go to admin twice in two years suggests that it's an absolute shambles happening there. Also remember it took a side like Leeds a good few years to get out of League One.

Re: Weekend > Championship > March 17th/18th No need to apologise mate as I'm not particularly optimistic myself. The thing about Southampton when they went down is that they were in a much healthier position. Strange thing to say I know but they were still a Premier League club with decent training facilities and a state of the art stadium that operates as more than a sporting venue. Much more attractive for investors. In contrast we have a 110+ year old stadium that holds barely 21000, with a current average attendance of 15000 (fcuk knows how they used to fit 50K in there!). Poor training facilities. Huge debts that need to be re-financed again, including a £20m debt to our previous owner, who also owns the area around Fratton Park. After this season we'll have about eight or nine full time pros left at the club following sales. Regardless of whether we stay up or not I expect David Norris, Jason Pearce and other fisrt team pros to be moved on (if they're not loaned out before the end of the season). So we will be left with even fewer saleable assets, and the need to replace the majority of a first team squad to either compete in the Championship or League One. I think should we go down we'll end up as another Plymouth, and end up dropping down again. Simply because I can't see any investors wanting to splash the cash, because of the above. We have struggled to sell the club on for two years now.
