Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 21 A couple of early takes for me... 13/10 Leatherhead away at Wingate & Finchley (Bet365) I don't rate Leatherhead hugely, but Wingate & Finchley are on a terrible downward trend at the moment. 11/8 Hemel Hempstead Town at home to Banbury United (Corals) Banbury were excellent at Totton and might have bagged a point on Tuesday, but the squad is suffering from losing its best players in the month. Hemel are getting better and look decently equipped for the relegation scrap. 11/10 Wealdstone at home to Cray Wanderers (Corals) Cray's recent away record is stunning but they haven't faced a side in as good a nick as Wealdstone for a while.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 21 A bit more detail on the selections this weekend. I think Tommy Widdrington is making a good stab at turning Hemel's season around. Although he hasn't had a settled squad to work with, the results have been coming with only a home thrashing by an improving St Albans spoiling the recent record. Ady Fuller has been doing a grand job with a young squad at Banbury, and they were very competitive at Totton this week, but they are suffering from injuries and have recently lost Glenn Walker to Brackley. It's just one win in six now. Leatherhead are a fairly bog standard Ryman Prem outfit - good when they are in the groove, but capable of blips. That, though, is an advance on their early season showing when they really struggled, although this thread has been recommending them since before the uptick came. With Garry Drewett back in the fold, they at least have some balance up front, and in Tom Hutchings they have a striker who on his day is as much a handful as anyone in the section. They generally don't keep up the good form for 90 minutes, but they are chasing points so they won't be taking this one lightly - and it's a good time to be meeting Wingate & Finchley. They are on a run of four straight defeats against it has to be said far superior outfits, but even before that they only won one in the previous six, and even then they almost contrived to throw away at 3-0 half-time lead to Bury. They've stiffened up the spine of the team since Christmas, though they still look ill equipped defensively. Wealdstone are an impressive outfit on their day, and are getting into a something of a groove at home. Perhaps they are guilty of not finishing off the more organised sides, but they will certainly have a chance against Cray. The away side are on a great run of four straight away wins, scoring heaps, but they are also conceding - 11 in the last four. They have some dangerous players throughout the side, none more so than Jack Clark, but in a match I expect to be very entertaining I think Wealdstone have the stronger claims.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 21 Margate v Lewes The final tip comes in the Ryman Premier and I am going to take on Lewes again. I opposed them last Saturday and Kingstonian weren’t far away at all from landing the odds as they drew 1-1. The club finally sacked Steve King this week and under-18 manager Simon Wormull has been given the job for the rest of the season. As I wrote last week Lewes have been underperforming on the pitch and have now not won in four games. Margate meanwhile have been in cracking form and have won their last four. Crucially for them as well is the fact that star striker Kwesi Appiah’s move to Blackpool fell through this week. He has already scored 21 goals in the league (33 in total) and Lewes will be doing well to keep him quiet. Bet365 go 5/4 about a home win and I am happy to take that.
