Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Going to take one in the T20 today. 4pts Y.Pathan's Performance Pts - 35&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. It was a case of which spinner to take in this match but I've gone with an Indian one because throughout the West Indies series with Pakistan they just couldn't play spin at all. Last time out on this ground in a T20 match they were restricted to 79/7 against Zimbabwe who bowled 16 overs of spin for combined figures of 7/65 after Suliemann Benn had earlier taken 4/6 in his 4 overs. It's a sad state of affairs that the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad has become so spin orientated but it's good for Yusuf Pathan who could bowl a complete 4 overs here. Obviously we've got his batting and fielding prowess to fall back on. Yusuf will cover this with average efforts in all 3 disciplines but with a solid effort in either of them he'll cover it even easier. I think 35 is well within reach of the big man here.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Not usually interested in the international matches, but this series to me looks like an interesting one. Taking 3 in the first ODI tomorrow. Darren Bravo to beat Lendl Simmons- Evens Bet365- (4/10) Bravo is a batsman I like in this West Indies team and despite not having the best world cup, he still has a huge amount of quality and potential and I expect him to be the stand out guy in this team over the coming few years. He averages over 38 in the one day format, whilst he opened his test career with three 50s in his opening test series against Sri Lanka last year showing what a good player he is. He hit a run a ball 41 in the T20 match between the two sides, and on a decent pitch tomorrow, he'll be the one who if he gets in early, will look to bat through whilst others play around him. Lendl Simmons on the other hand is hugely inconsistent and is capable of hitting huge scores, and if he does that tomorrow then fair play, but so often he gets himself out cheaply and I'll back the latter tomorrow. He has been around for a long time now Simmons without really excelling and has struggled to hold down an International slot, and hasn't played test cricket since the WI played England a couple of years ago. His average of 21 in ODI cricket isn't the greatest, especially considering he is a specialist batsman which highlights the fact that he is prone to inconsistency. He only mustered 9 in the T20, and I'm backing the player who's more consistent and has an overall greater amount of quality in Bravo to outscore Simmons for the WI. Virat Kohli to beat Suresh Raina- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Also taking this batsman bet for India and I'm backing one of the most promising batsman in the world to start the series off in good fashion. He still hasn't reached his full potential which I see him doing in the next year or so, but he's already shown he can perform on the big stage, hitting a century at the world cup, and with an average of 44 in limited overs cricket, just shows why there is so much talk about this kid over in India. With no Tendulkar, Dhoni or Yuvraj, a lot of the focus will be on Kohli to score some considerable runs this series batting at no.3, and he is the kind of guy who thrives under this sort of pressure and I think it will suit him being the main guy in this Indian second string lineup. Raina will have even more pressure on his shoulders though, through being given the captaincy this series, and trying to lead this under strength Indian side away from home. I'm guessing he will down at 6 in the lineup, so if India are going along nicely, with the top order hitting some runs, there could be a possibiliy of the captain only having a few overs to hit out in, whereas Kohli if he gets in, could bat for the majority of the India innings and put on a big score. Just down to the expectancy of Kohli, and the fact that Raina will have that extra pressure of captaincy to cope with, I'll back Kolhi to outscore the captain in this one. Kieron Pollard performance 35 & over- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) The big man is back for the West Indies tomorrow and he has spoken out at how he wants to make a big impact on this series. He's trained hard and wants to make amends for a not so great world cup in which he only took 2 wickets and hit only 2 50s. In this match though he plays in front of his home crowd which will give Pollard a boost, and this target can be achieved if the big hitting Pollard has a solid match. Of course we know about his huge hitting, in which he could cover the 35 points just with the bat, but he's also likely to bowl some overs, so there's always a chance of a wicket in there. Another dimension I like to Pollard though is his fielding. He's one of the best in the game, and will field in the important positions for the WI, so there's always a chance of a catch or two in the game for Pollard. Just feel he will have that extra motivation on his return to impress his home fans, and with a triple threat of covering this target, I'll back him to cover it.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series 2 outrights for me. 1pt West Indies to win ODI Series 4/1 Paddy Power I think the odds on the home side to win the series here are quite big. This isn't a full strength Indian side at all and having only lost 3-2 to a full strength and very confident Pakistan side bar Umar Gul, I see no reason why the Windies won't be at least competitive in this series too especially given that they have a key man in Kieron Pollard back. The likes of the Bravo's, Sarwan and the newly found Bishoo make up the looks of a West Indies side which could get stronger and stronger. The Indian players have all played a lot of cricket recently and might just not quite have their eye on the ball so at 4/1 I'll have a small punt on the Windies winning what should be quite a competitive series. 2pts V.Kohli Top India Series Batsman 10/3 Paddy Power Virat Kohli is a class act and with the absentees in this Indian batting line up he's the one I expect to carry this Indian batting line up. He averages a shade under 50 in ODI cricket, plays spin and seam equally as well and is an expert timer of an innings. You'd think over the course of the 5 matches Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma would be the biggest dangers bar for a couple of Yusuf Pathan specials but Sharma and Raina look like batting at 5 and 6 whereas Kohli will be at 3. I'm a massive fan of Kohli and I think 10/3 are very good odds when you consider who isn't here for India in this series. He wouldn't be a great deal bigger than this were everyone here so I'll happily take the 10/3 here.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series 4 for me in the opening match. 4pts West Indies +3.5wickets/30.5runs 5/6 Sportingbet Not much more to say than what I said in the series bet really. West Indies look a lot stronger than in the twenty20 match whereas India are at the same level. Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard are big players for the Windies on their home grounds so I fully expect this to be a competitive match and one which Windies will stay close in if not actually win. 3pts Dwayne Bravo's Performance Pts - 39&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. As I mentioned above this is Dwayne Bravo's home ground given that he plays for Trinidad & Tobago and it's certainly one he enjoys batting on having averaged a shade under 55 with the bat in ODI's on this ground. The two times he's played India on this ground he's hit unbeaten 60's so that bodes well here. He's a capable batsman who can crack on with it if needs be or dig in and rescue a situation and he's more than capable of covering this target via either method of batting. His bowling is good at this level too. He took 2 wickets in his last 2 ODI's against Pakistan recently and with his changes of pace he tends to bowl late on in the innings where the cheap wickets can come from. I'd be surprised if given how well he knows the conditions he doesn't pick up a wicket. He has taken at least one wicket in his last 5 ODI's on this ground. Throw in his superb athletic ability in the field and I think 39 is a nice enough line for Dwayne Bravo to cover. 2pts H.Singh Top India Bowler 11/4 Blue Square West Indies' playing of spin was a shambles against Pakistan and they didn't fare a whole lot better in the T20 either. Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez each took 6 wickets in the recent ODI series against West Indies and Ajmal then took 11 for in a test match against them. This ground suits spinners. Trinidad play in 20 over cricket with as many as 4 spinners and it's no surprise then that spinners take their wickets at around 27 apiece on this ground. Should spin favour the seam and to be fair Munaf's accuracy is more his strength than pace, then Harbhajan will be a major player here and given how the Windies struggle against spin he looks a big price at 11/4 to be India's top bowler in this opening ODI. 2pts D.Sammy Top West Indies Bowler 11/2 Blue Square Darren Sammy has just taken 4/16 on this ground in the T20 match and although the wicket generally favours spin, Windies are only likely to play one out and out spinner and India generally play spin well so I see no reason why Sammy, who could well have the new ball here, can't go well again on this ground at a nice price. A big price in fact if he can reproduce his form of the T20 match. Prior to that T20 he took 5 for in another T20 international against Zimbabwe on this ground so if he can convert his T20 form into ODI form on this ground then he'll be a major player at a daft 11/2 given that he's almost duty bound to bowl his 10 overs and lead from the front.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series I've taken two outrights in the end for the series. Virat Kohli Top India Series Batsman- 11/4 Bet365- (2/10) Agreed with Kev on this one and although I haven't got as good as price, 11/4 is still high enough for me to back him at. Already been mentioned that alot of the big guns are missing for India so alot of the runs with have to come through the likes of Kohli and Raina in particular, but the fact that Raina has been made captain, puts extra pressure on him, and with him batting down the order at 6, there could be a couple of matches where he gets only a short amount of time in the middle. Kohli will come in at 3, and will try and build the innings whilst others play around him. This kid is the real deal shown through his century at the world cup and his extremely healthy average, so I'll back him to lead the batting charts come the end of the series. Kieron Pollard Top West Indies Series Batsman- 12/1 Ladbrokes- (1.5/10) E/W- 1/5-1/2/3 Price looks huge on Pollard here. Granted he will have a couple of matches where there's a good chance he will get out early, but we've seen in the past that if he gets going in a match, he can hit sixes for fun, and score some heavy runs. He has spoken about wanting to impress in this series and do well for his team, so that should provide the motivation for some good performances. The WI batting lineup isn't the strongest in the world. Only two that stand out in the squad are the two Bravo's who are good cricketers, but without their talisman Gayle for at least the first game, I'll back Pollard to come good at some point in the series with the bat and if he comes in the top 3, there is some profit to be had.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Well that couldn't have gone worse to be honest. Started badly with Pollard not even playing, then Bravo couldn't better Simmons' 6 even though he played a cracking shot throught the covers to get off the mark. Then to round it off Kohli gets out cheaply, making both batsman bets losers, and a few behind Sharma in the outright. Hope that's the bad match over with and look to have 4 better games. -8 for me to start off though. Really hope Pollard is back for the remainder of the series.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series -3.50 for the first ODI for me. Harbhajan bet won but I was a wicket short with Windies and Bravo. Haven't really had a lot of time to look into today's 2nd ODI so I'll just take the bet which will be a regular occurance on the spinning wickets in this series. 2pts H.Singh Top India Bowler 11/4 Blue Square Harbhajan took 3 wickets in the opening match and had a catch dropped off his bowling as well as this West Indies side continues to struggle to play spin. It isn't as though they are trying to score off it because they seem to have accepted that they just can't. Harbhajan bowls at the key stages of the innings which makes me lean towards him more than Mishra. I see no reason why West Indies are suddenly going to play spin any better and on a ground where spin averages a wicket every 27 runs in ODI's I'll take Harbhajan to pick up the most West Indian scalps for the 2nd ODI in a row.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Yeah similar to Kev, I haven't looked into the game with enough detail so I'll leave it alone and hope Kohli and Pollard (if he plays) are the two stand out players on show.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Kohli hit some much needed runs in the 2nd ODI to keep the outright in good stead, whilst I'm not too concerned about Pollard. Was always a fact that he was going to get out cheaply in a couple of innings, but just need one big score from him and that outright could also look value. Helps that Dwayne Bravo is rested as well today so hopefully the big man can shine. Anyways 3 for me in the match, as I try and claw back this deficit that I'm in. V.Kohli -3.5 run handicap to beat D.Bravo- 5/6 Ladbrokes- (4/10) I've already spoken about how highly I rate Bravo and feel he will be a key played for them in the coming years, but the simple fact it Kohli is a couple of classes above him. Bravo was dropped for the 2nd ODI after looking extremely nervy in the first match where he was out cheaply for 4, before playing a nothing shot and being caught at slip. I don't fancy him being dropped has done anything for his confidence and if anything just puts more pressure on him at number 3. Kohli despite not doing anything in the first ODI, led this under stregnth Indian team to victory a few days ago with a class knock where he showed why there is so much talk about him. He top scored with 81, and played a classy innings throughout which should give him a ton of confidence to bring in with him to the rest of the series. Just have to back the Indian wonderkid here due to the form and confidence issue and I fancy him to outscore Bravo by a few too many today. K.Roach performance 30&Over- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) I think it's a massive boost for the WI that Roach is back today on a pitch which is meant to be prepared to suit the faster bowlers more, in an attempt to stop the Indian spinners from doing the damage. He is set to replace Rampaul in the side and what I like about Roach in the limited form of the game is that 1) he will bowl at the top of the innings with a hard ball, and 2) he will bowl at the death. Despite his age, Roach bowls around the 90mph mark and he bowls some good yorkers which given his pace, are hard to dig out. We saw at the world cup what he can do, as he took a hat trick against the Netherlands and ended up with 6 wickets. He bowled exceptionally well there and the Dutch batsman found it hard to cope with his swinging pacey yorkers and if he gets a couple of those right at the death on an innings, there's always a good chance of an lbw or a batsman getting his middle stump cartwheeling out of the ground. 30 points is essentially 2 wickets which I feel the youngster can do, but if he manages a catch, he'll only need the one wicket and on a pitch which should be favourable for the seem bowlers, I don't see why he can't get stuck into the Indian team and claim a couple of victims. Total Match Wides Over 15.5- 5/6 William Hill- (4/10) We've seen in this series that neither team is consistently accurate with their bowling through the entire innings and in the series thus far, we've had 13 wides in the T20, and then 15 and 24 wides in total for the ODIs, showing the inconsistency of both sides. A repeat of the last match in which India bowled 16 wides on their own should see the overs come through. Roach as I've mentioned is quick and although I fancy him to go well today, given his inexperience he is always likely to get a rush of blood and put a fair few down the leg side. Bravo won't play today as well and his few overs that he usually bowls are usually quite tight and his line and length are usually around off stump so his overs will have to be filled by another source. I also like the overs here as the Indian spinners may not get a huge amount out of the pitch today as it is being prepared for the quickies. If the pitch doesn't turn, with the keeper up there is always a chance of 4 wides on a couple of ocassions which helps the overs. Given the ton of wides so far in the series, I'll go with the overs in this one.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series I give up on this series and it just a stern reminder to why I don't do international cricket. Wides were the lowest they have been all series and Roach didn't trouble the Indian batsman. Thankfully Bravo didn't play as Kohli was given out first ball even though the ball was going over the top and missing leg stump. Both the outrights looks dodgy so I'll see how they pan out but I'll just think to the domestic stuff I think.

Re: Cricket: West Indies vs India - T20 International & ODI Series Hello everyone, been away from the betting scene for a while due to exams but I'm back to contribute. Not the greatest of spectacles this series but I've been keeping an eye on it nevertheless. One bet catches my eye for this final game. 4pts - Player Performance: Carlton Baugh 29pts & Over - 5/6 Bet365 I think this is a low line for the West Indian wicketkeeper particularly as he has covered it comfortably in the last two games. He has shown that he likes to put his head down and graft out runs and given West Indies top order isn't upto much, he should get another opportunity with the willow here. Additionally he has been sharp behind the stumps and with this pitch set to be a little quicker, the likes of Russell and Roach should encourage a few nicks. A low line so happy to take a punt on the West Indian keeper to cover this total today.
