Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham

Dave and Fonzie both in the money last i heard:ok
Yeh Fonzie when out in 11th unfortunately. I was 4th in the end for £1660, which obviously i would have been very happy with at the beginning of the day, but really wanted to win it. Met with the PL crew, Pete, John, Fonzie, Dave, Ken and insider didn't actuallty get to meet Damatrix, met Alun Bowden for the first time and seemed a really nice guy and chatted for a while. Anyway back to the tourney, the final table started well when i picked up jacks on the first hand and knocked guy out who shipped over the top of my raise with 7's. So i managed to get myself up to over 200k in chips, which was around average at the time. A few more got knocked out and then we were 4 handed when the pivotal pot for me anyway arrived. The guy on the sb min raises my bb and i have 5s8s, so i call as he has been raising my blind all the time, the flop come qh5d2h and he checks, i figure he's probably missed so bet out 20k, he calls the turn is 3h, he checks and i check, the river is the 5c giving me trip 5's and he bets out 30k, now i think for a while and was unsure whether to call or raise, i just don't put him on the flush, so i make it 70k and he thinks for a while and calls, showing ah jh for the nut flush, i couldn't belive he didn't reraise me, anyway that left me short and i shoved a few times, but blinds were 8k 16k with 1200 ante and think i was down to 60k, i shipped on my sb with 10 3 off and obviously the bb has aces:eyes Anyway was wondering what anyone's thoughts were on my raise on the river, just thought it would have been pretty nitty to have just called there and was convinced i was ahead.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham Great to see the guys again and to meet a couple of new faces. I also had a long chat with Alun...think we sorted the world out ;). Well done to Dave, pity you didn't go all the way, but the lad who won seemed to have a couple of spare pack of cards at his disposal :p....never seen so many big hands at the right time, but you can only play what you got, so WP to him :clap My tourney was pretty uneventfull, fiarst couple of hours was spent sat next to Alun watching the table maniac limp/raise/reraise every hand....we just watched in disbelief...... After 1st break, got moved to a new table and started to get a few cards, took out a couple of shortstacks who seemed to think that I was stealing.....as if!!! Then got moved again....nothing of any great importance...... Then we are on the bubble :unsure.....which bursts and we are ITM :nana Blinds getting big now 4k/8k I'm im BB with QToff with 35k behind, folded to button who shoves for his last 45k......putting him on a pretty wide range and think I may well be ahead or racing...Call, he has A8off and hits an 8 on river which is academic as the A plays and I'm out in 11th :sad Happy to cash though and had a great day overall. Thanks Alun and all at PP and Gala B'ham.

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham Well done Dave and Fonzie! :clap:clap I only got to the casino at 12.59pm and sat straight down to play so really didn't get a chance to meet everyone except for Chromhead who was on my table. Busted on the same table 3betting allin 88 into AA, then played a bit of cash and headed out for a night out in Brum ending up at a strip club as you do. gga :ok

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham Well done Dave and Fonzie. Spent some time on my first table with Dave and when they broke our table things obviously worked out rather better for you than me! :) (I was seat 1 with the Midlands Poker shirt.) Some incredibly bad and highly amusing poker being played at that table which I think we were both able to take advantage of at various stages, but the guy limp folding A8 with 2.5BB was a classic. I was sorry that it got broken. I eventually went in 20th spot. When the average was about 55k I had slipped back to average, or it had caught up with me, and had just gone through the blinds with nothing to make a stand (at 2500/5000 so the average was about 10bb), then immediately they broke the table and I went straight into BB on next table. That was unlucky as a player with a big stack from my previous table drew the cutoff seat on the new table. If the seat draw had been reversed I may have survived a bit longer and had more options. Anyway, thems the breaks, I knew he was raising from the cutoff and decided to shove with any two. Sure enough he made it 12.5k and I shoved for about 36k - unfortunately he made the call with KT and I only had, er, J2. :) I got away with worse earlier so that's karma I guess.

Well played guys, great results :nana Is that the same Dave that final tabled one of the other legs? or am I confusing you? If so, incredible running :notworthy

Re: PokerPlayer Gala UK Tour - next up - Grand Final - Birmingham Fingers crossed they will run these again next year, I really enjoyed the Bristol leg and had hoped to make some of the others. I'm sure you will Dave, only a matter of time, very well played... a possible candidate for POY if they had done such a leaderboard type thingy. :clap
