A couple of points on this topic :
1. The Most Winners competition is no longer being dominated by a small number of posters playing a tactical game (sadly !). Over the last year there has been a wide spread of winners with I think nobody winning more than once.
2. Nobody has addressed the question of each way players and whether their selections should be ignored/banned. A poster who puts up an 11/2 shot which finishes 2nd in a 8 runner race would win the grand sum of 5 pence; it seems irrational to me to allow that selection to stand whereas a poster who puts up a 1/2 winner wins 50 pence but finds their selection does not count.

But, to be fair, no less naive than we would be in believing that the month end long shots are necessarily anyone’s best bet of the day rather than a legitimate attempt to win a prize. Bottom line is you can tweak the rules as much as you like and people will adapt their strategy to play to the limit of the rules and others will again feel it’s contrary to the spirit of the competition. I think people have lost sight of the “fun competition” angle as flagged by @Zilzalianalong with keep it simple and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I’d say the odds on shot furore is a massive red herring, no one would be thumping that particular tub if it was about winning the naps comp, the issue is with the prize for most winners. Some people like it some don’t. It would make more sense to call for the prize to be scrapped than odds on shots banned if that’s how you feel. Or you’ll just end up complaining about people picking close to evens shots in a blatant attempt to win the prize.
With regards to minimum winners I’d leave well alone. As @MCLARKEsays, if someone hits a big winner early they could just play at minimum odds (whatever they end up being) in an attempt to secure the win. Better to leave it as it is so that they’re more likely to carry on posting their actual nap for the rest of the month. You could also end up with the comp being done and dusted before month end if the chasing back can no longer hit the minimum number of winners.
Dare I say the competition is fine as it is, resolve the bog issue, stop tinkering and move on. You’ll never please everyone, in life generally and probably more so on here.

Not far off. The median is 42. Average is 48. Highest is 125. Lowest is 18.
I'm not convinced about the minimum winners rule, all I would do is pick a couple of odds on shots and then go for the big priced winner.

Based on the results in the Naps competition we should ban any selections at 4/1 or above

Put quite a few on as only tourniquet on then the masters which I've already got main bets on anyway.
All free bets bar Kuchar which I put on in error as cash bet, but hey ho.
1st round leader - was between Riley, Kirk and Pendrith, opted for Riley.
The above 3 I've put on, Kirk and Riley win only and Pendrith ew 8 pl
Conners ew 8pl
Ew 10 pl on kuchar, fox and spaun
win only on fowler.
Good luck all.

Good luck with getting 10 winners at 4/1 or more, I'll set you the challenge !
I agree with Alistair, achieving a £10 profit is not easy and should be commended not penalised

I am one of the "villains" here in that I have dared to adopt a strategy that gives me what I think would be the best chance of winning the Most Winners comp which I have won more often than anyone. I have never won the monthly comp or come close to it - the standard of tipping on this website is high and at least one punter will come up with a winner at 40/1+ every month and I have never tried to compete with that. But the point is that to get to £10 profit is actually pretty tough in a month - representing around 30% on turnover- and anyone who does so should be congratulated, not cut out of winning one of the competitions.

I would be very interested.
Odds on bets are fantastic and often offer great value. As I've said before I much prefer a 1/10 winner to a 10/1 loser.
I am just analysing the naps over the last 2 years and the most profitable area is those naps at 1/4 or less
94 wins from 103 selections (91% strike rate) with a profit of 11 points (10.4% ROI)

Agreed, why fix something that isn't broken is a good philosophy, we can all come up with different "ideas" but at the end of the day we would just be being picky.

20 points is a return of 60%, if one could achieve that sort of return on a regular basis they would be on a yacht in the carribean rathen than putting up tips on here !
If it is the most exciting part of the comp then why change it ?
-
Johnrobertson reacted to MCLARKE in BILLY HILLS NAP TABLE - March 2023
We all have different strategies, generally the naps comp is won by someone who has picked 1 or 2 long priced winners, the most winners comp by someone who has picked a lot of short priced winners.
To achieve £10 profit in itself is no easy task, it represents a return of 30% which I suggest nobody on here gets anyway near. Lat month only 11 out 83 achieved the £10 mark.
