  1. Re: Flat Racing Monday 3rd June 14.15 Leicester Juvenile Lead I wasn't going to put this up as a selection as I expected the price to be much shorter, and for a 2 year old making his debut with massive stamina doubts, there wouldn't be any value in my eyes. However, the son of Sea The Stars has the potential to be a great horse, he holds an entry in The Derby next year, and although he was beaten, we all know that Dawn Approach started out by winning a sprint race over 5F. Cable Bay and Hatha Hooh look to be the main dangers, both with racecourse experience could improve from there first races.

  2. Re: Jump racing - Mon 3rd June 15.20 Listowel Black Cache Despite finishing 4th of 16, this horse was well beaten last time out at Tipperary over todays trip of 2m 4f, however that ground was very testing that day and in his race prior to that over the same C&D he run a decent 3rd behind Marshim, with Paul Townsend in the saddle today I think this horse could get his head in front today.

  3. Re: 2013 Epsom Derby Perhaps it wasn't the greatest Derby field but I still thought it was a great race, I backed Libertarian each way and thought I was going to be ripping up my slip turning for home but the way he stayed on towards the finish, I think he could be hard to beat if going for The St Leger, or possibly even The Arc? Regarding Dawn Approach, after his performance does anyone still think that Frankel would of won a Derby, had Sir Henry sent him down that route?

  4. Re: Flat Racing - Friday 31st May 14.45 Epsom Sri Putra 1pt Win At the current price of 6/1 I certainly see plenty of value in Sri Putra today. His previous form suggests he is more than capable of winning this Group 3 contest. Last Summer he won the Group 2 York stakes, and also last June finished an impressive 5th in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Ascot. He has been off the track since last August, but usually goes well on his seasonal reappearance, including winning the Paradise Stakes on his first start last year.

  5. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 26th of September 16.15 Goodwood Rosslyn Castle. 1PT Win. 9/2 Bet365 BOG. Finished 7th of 13 at Chester last time out, but missed the break at the start and was never going to be involved from the rear of the field. Dropping back in class and trip today should suit the horse and the horse has won on soft ground previously.

  6. Re: BBOTD Friday 14th of September 20.15 Wolverhampton Eltifaat 1PT Win 11/4 Boylesports, PaddyPower This horse is making his 3rd start tonight, and based on his debut at Kempton he has every chance of winning this race. The horse started slowly but still finished 2nd by only 1/2 a length, perhaps if he had a better start he would of held on and won. Last time out he was sent off the 13/8 favourite at Pontefract but finished a disapointing 6th, I think the horse has a lot more to offer than that performance showed and he can get off the mark in this race.

  7. Re: BBOTD Thursday 13th of September 19.20 Wolverhampton Excuse To Linger. 1PT Win. 10/11 (Coral) Not a great price but can't see this horse being beaten today. Excuse To Linger made his debut back in July in a Class 2 6f race at Ascot, although never really involved at the business end, the horse ran a very creditable 7th (of 12) but found himself slightly outpaced towards the back end of the race. Dropped back in trip and class last time out, over todays C&D, the horse finished 2nd behind Titled Gent (who has since won a class 4 at Kempton) but was 5 lengths clear of the 3rd place and also didn't have the clearest passage through. Racing over the same course and distance as that race today, I think the horse will be back here to win and should win well. The likely main danger for the horse will be the unraced Enzaal, trained by Mark Johnston, but with racecourse experience, Excuse To Linger should lose his maiden tag today.

  8. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 11th September 17.25 Uttoxeter Woodacre 11/4 (PaddyPower, StanJames, SkyBet, Hills) 1PT Win Woodacre won at the 3rd time of asking back in June (finished 2nd on 1st two starts) at Hereford over 1m 5f on good to firm ground, with a step up in trip today and a penalty to contend with also, you can certainly put a question mark next to his name, but he did run over 2m 1f on his first two outings and showed plenty of promise in them races. Cutting back from that trip to 2miles today I believe this could be the right distance for the horse, AP McCoy has been booked for the ride and if there is one jockey who will ensure to get the best out of the horse, it's the champ. Looking through the field, nothing stands out as a massive eye catcher, so with the experience under his belt I think Woodacre will take all the beating today.

  9. Re: BBOTD Monday 10th of September 3.10pm Newton Abbot Enfant De Lune 1PT Win. Finished 2nd over course and distance last time out in a listed contest, running off the same mark today in a class 3 contest should see him tough to beat. Although the horse hasn't won over this distance, he's won over 2m 4f before, and stayed on well when winning over that distance at Ffos Las earlier this year.

  10. Re: BBOTD Thursday 6th of September 3.05 Haydock Huntsmans Close - 7/2 Bet365 (1PT Win) Huntsmans Close has run twice and still hasn't got a win to his name, but connections must still hold some faith in this horse as he's entered for the Dewhurst, Middle Park and Mill Reef stakes, so i'm sure they'll be hoping to get off the mark today. The horse made his debut back in July at Yarmouth over 7f when finishing 2nd behind Makafeh (who finished a close 2nd in a class 4 event thereafter). Looking like he may run better over 6f he was entered in a decent looking class 2 maiden race at Glorious Goodwood and was sent off joint 7/2 favourite, but he never appeared to be fully settled in the race and never make an impact. Dropping back to a class 5 today I think connections really will be looking to show off the horses ability and get him out of maiden races, and today could be the day that happens.

  11. Re: I'm still losing As above, the majority of newspaper tipsters also have to make a selection in every race, I wouldn't imagine they have time to go through every race in enough detail to make a continuous profit. Some days you'll have a good couple of winners, some days you'll probably have zilch. As long as your enjoying your gambling (i.e. not losing stupid amounts on a daily basis) soon enough you'll start to learn more and more about racing and as your knowledge improves so will your betting balance (hopefully!).

  12. Re: bbotd wed 5th Bath - 16.50 - Highlife Dancer (13/8 Boylesports) 1PT Win. Highlife Dancer is attempting todays trip (1m 5f) for the first time today, however the horse stayed on well when finishing 2nd at Beverley last Saturday over 1m 1f and also under a penalty. He's won off todays mark previously and also has been running much better since Mick Channon fitted a visor, which is on again today.

  13. Re: Why are English race callers so indecisive?? Slightly off topic - but the Racing Post could certainly do with upgrading there text commentary! I don't use it too often thanks to audio commentary being easily accessible on smart phones, but many times i've seen text commentary stating "horse A wins well - Result 1st: horse B 2nd: horse C 3rd: horse A" I imagine it must be an automated service.

  14. Re: Cheltenham Chat

Speaking as a Cheltenham regular and live there. Best Mate enclosure is one to stay clear of IMO. Go for Tatts or Club. Parking wise - yes avoid the course. Park in town and walk in.
Thanks mate, and thanks to addpea also, unless I can pick up some cheap tatts tickets outside i'll probably go along and use the Best Mate enclosure and see how it is! Is there anywhere in particular you recommend parking in town?
  15. Re: Cheltenham Chat Can someone recommend somewhere to park within walking distance of the racecourse? I've opted to drive as trains are a bit of a nightmare from where I live but been reading that it can take forever to get out of the racecourse car parks, so was going to find some street parking if theres any around. Also what's the best mate enclosure like for viewing? I'm still a bit sceptical about going and debating whether or not to just stay at home so I can catch all the racing with no bother on the tv! Thanks.
