  1. Re: Flat Racing - York Ebor Festival Week Thread

York 3:05 - Clipper Logistics Stakes(HANDICAP) (2) 1m My money has gone on Parbold to show us his best performance to date tomorrow as I think a gelding operation can make all the difference to a horse. He has a nice pitch in Stall 8 to come from so Hanagan has plenty of options from that draw. His only ever win came here at York on debut and he also ran a very close 3rd in a Group 2 here at York behind Astaire this time last year, form that would give him big claims here. I also read that Fahey has been thrilled with his recent work at home which is promising. It is a complete lottery or a race as it is 8/1 the field but I am hoping that this horse has improved buckets since the operation. Parbold also has a group 2 entry which suggests he has a good bit of improvement in him after being gelded and therefore well handicapped. He looks good value at the moment.
  2. Re: Favourite Courses and Meetings

It is the other side of the country but I really enjoy Ballinrobe. You can see the entire course from the stands, it is a sharp right hand track. Downpatrick is also worth a visit, very sharp and undulating and a tough uphill climb. My favourite racecourse anywhere is Ludlow! It is pure magic.
That's something I don't like about Leopardstown, I've never found anywhere with a good view of the course but maybe I have to look better. The price of food and drink is ridiculous as well. Downpatrick looks a very nice track from what I've seen.
  3. Just wondering what are your favourite courses and meetings, particularly in Ireland? I'm fairly new to racing so I've only been to my local course at Leopardstown but I would love to visit some other courses in the future. Really looking forward to Irish Champions Weekend so maybe that would be a nice time to visit the Curragh. Over in the UK I'm guessing Cheltenham is a great place to go but what about Royal Ascot? I wouldn't say I would be a big fan of the atmosphere there but has anyone been there?

To make it worse, Amy Ryan was given a 4 day ban for overuse of the whip. Is that sufficient punishment? Cost the 2nd the win if that is the case.
The ban is barely going have an affect on her at all since she doesn't tend to get many rides as well. Perhaps the punishment should be tougher. Nice winner for yourself in the next race though!
  5. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Would Joseph's issues getting to a low enough weight to ride Australia tomorrow put you off backing him? He may not be in top physical condition if he puts himself under to much strain but then again Australia does seem the class act of the field.

  6. Re: Portugal > Liga ZON Sagres > 2014/15 Benfica all over the place in pre season after losing several key players. Sporting look good again this season under Marco Silva but after some very good signings Porto as so often is the case in Portugal are the team to beat. I reckon there's going to be some nice value betting against Benfica in the early rounds.

  7. Re: Nap of the Day - Saturday 2nd Aug 2014 3:50 Goodword Hallelujah is dropping back from a Group 3 contest to handicap company and should have a chance off this mark back on this firmer ground. Es Que Love went on to win here from that Group 3 contest in soft conditions and Hallelujah also has that course and distance form here which are other positives. Hallelujah - 0.5 each-way 33/1 Bet365

  8. Re: Nap Of The Day - Saturday July 26th Ascot 3:15 Clive Brittain trained a 40/1 winner a few years ago in this race and Brazos looks overpriced here today. He's a course and distance winner at Ascot and ran with credit in the Jersey Stakes as well. High draws seem are preferred here but the low draws aren't too bad either and Brazos' straight course form could prove to be valuable here as has been the case in handicaps at Ascot this season. Brazos - 50/1 0.5 pts each-way Betvictor

  9. Re: Nap of the Day Competition - Saturday 12th July 3:50 Newmarket Noozoh Canarias set a frightening pace for the 2000 Guineas where he impressed before slowing inside the final furlong and will relish this step back in trip. He has the form on soft finishing just behind twice Group 1 winner Karakontie at Longchamp and Soumillon is a great booking. He receives 6 pounds from Slade Power and will go close here I think. Noozoh Canarias - 1pt Win 6/1 PaddyPower

  10. Re: Nap of the Day Competition - Thursday 10th July 6:50 Leopardstown I live pretty near Leopardstown where it has been raining pretty heavily making News at Six very opposable as both his eye catching runs have been on good to firm giving the other runners a shot here. Nonchalant is a decent prospect for D K Weld and is my favourite out of these with the potential to run a big race in receipt of 11lbs after disappointing last time out at the Curragh where he didn't have a clean run. Nonchalant finished just over 2L behind 102 rated Ponfeigh at Navan before that and with the potential to improve further he can run a good race here. Nonchalant - 1pt Win 4/1 Coral
