  1. Re: Rugby League: World Club Challenge

Been out all day so only just seen this thread Ronnie, good pick. I fancied Leeds to win because I read Melbourne were without a few top players but the weather today meant it was always going to be a close game. Seen somwhere else it was 5/6 for less than 7.5 tries. Wish I'd have known that! I backed leeds on the outright so a little bit of profit. The couple of friendlies was misleading, from what I understand the "match" against Hull behind closed doors at Featherstone was only a training session with a bit of contact thrown in. Well done Ronnie
Cheers Punto, The 2 main friendlies were Halifax last friday and Manly just before they left Aus, didn't know about the Hull one :unsure
  2. Leeds v Melbourne Storm 19:30 - Match Handicap (80 Mins) Live on SS1.gif

    Selection Hcp Price
    Leeds -10 10/11
    Tie -10 16/1
    Melbourne Storm +10 10/1
This price is the best i could find and is at BetFred Am going to to be backing Melbourne Storm in what i expect to be a very tight game, Leeds go into this match full of confidence and on the back of a perfect start to Super league winning all games and with a full squad to pick from. Storm have been over here two weeks now and have played a couple of friendlies and have a few players from last year missing (King, Inglis and Cameron Smith), they are playing a number of teenagers in the backs along with wonderkid Israel Folau who i belive will score tonight (even money @ Totesport). It all points to a Rhinos win but i think Storm can stay within the 10 point hcp.
  3. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 4

St Helens -24pts looks a bit too much , however they certainly played well against Bradford last weekend and this is St Helens so it could well be possible but not for me, the value here seems to lie in the Anytime Try Scorer Market.
Saints have got a very depleted pack, but Wakefields pack isn't that impressive, Saints may play Cunningham at prop and with him and Roby on the park that means a lot of options for an attack minded team, Sculthorpe seems to be getting some way back to his best and the kids they have coming through are very good, especially Steven Tyrer who i expect to have a very big season for the Saints. As for the anytime scorer market i tend to look for a bit of value ie not odds on, but have been known to tip them before, i'm looking at Lee Gilmour @ evens as about the best for Saints. As for the handicap, Wakefield have shown me nothing to suggest that they can keep Saints at bay, and i feel that they will cover the handicap with ease.
  4. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 3

Hull KR could be a spot of value this afternoon. 10pts Hull KR to beat Warrington 11/10 Stan James Hull KR have started the season really well and all the pre-season thoughts of the top 6 in the red side of Hull could just be realised if they continue to play like they are. KR narrowly lost to Leeds in their 1st game despite leading for the majority of the match but they've responded brilliantly by beating St Helens and then winning in France last week despite a few injuries. Those injuries look to be easing. They'll have Fisher and Murrell back this afternoon and they are key players although Chev Walker will still be out. Injuries are the key word with Warrington and they'll be without Aussie star Matt King and ful back Chris Bridge which will mean a reshuffle in the backs. Michael Monaghan has looked the business so far but defensively in their 2 matches so far Warrington have looked a bit shaky, particularly down their left and that could give Hull KR a slight edge and I'll take them to win here.
Unlucky Kev, they came back well but Warrington managed to hold on.
Yeah this game really intrigues me, been expecting big things from Warrington, last season and this and Hull KR are playing to the their full potential, maybe beyond. It's a game i might be tempted with the overs, depending on the spread of course, would loved to have seen this one on the telly, think it's gonna be a try fest.
It was a try fest finishing 28-29 in favour of Warrington with 10 tries scored between them, didn't have a bet on this so missed out on the overs.
  5. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 3 Harlequins v Wakefield seems to be a very even matchup, i'm leaning more towards Quins who i feel have a more balanced team with Danny Orr hopefully back playing his best rugby, and McLinden running things from the back and Matt Gafa running the tries in (4 in 2 games), the loss of Scott Hill will hit them though at half back. Their defence seems to have improved this season and hopefully they will keep the 3 Wakefield playmakers (Rooney, Brough and Drew) in check. Wakefield don't seem to have settled yet, even though they beat Bradford on the opening day and in the other game they were stunned in the first half against Leeds. Rooney should start instead of Obst to partner Brough who had a storming game v Bradford and will need another star performance tonight. Harlequins -4 10/11 @ Skybet M Gafa anytime scorer 5/4 @ Corals

  6. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 3

Not going to bother with trying to figure out the Bradford/Saints hcp, too close to call for me. Instead i'm going for a 40/20 to be kicked in the match 9/4 @ Skybet, Bradford have a wealth of kickers that can make the kick, Deacon, Harris and even Newton i belive could make one if he wanted. Saints of course have Sean Long who repeatedly kicked them last season. Also backing Morrison to score anytime 3/1 @ Skybet, scored 11 times for Bradford last season and crossed the whitewash last time out v Huddersfield and i think 3/1 is a huge price for someone who so often puts himself in scoring positions.
Well got 1 out of 2, With Deacon kicking that 40/20 in the second half :nana

  8. Re: UEFA Cup 21 February

SPARTAK MOSCOW v Marseille This looks a fantastic bet seeing as Moscow are chasing a 3 goal lead from the first leg. Marseille are a decent home side but I think seeing as they are 3 goals up they will think the tie is won and they are probably right but I am willing to take the chance on Spartak at odds of 2.32 that they at least win the game.
Very nice call, not on myself :wall Nice one though :ok
  9. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 3

Hull KR V Warrington off scratch. Bit of a surprise as I expected Warrington to be giving a few points away. -4 maybe. Not as sure as the other two but it's well worth a look.

  10. Re: UEFA Cup 21 February Going to have a little go on Joleon Lescott to score anytime for Everton v Brann, he's scored 2 in europe and is a great target at corners and free kicks, always posing a threat and i belive that Brann will have difficulty coping with him at set plays, with Arteta back he'll get some quality ball and no doubt will get a few chances. 6/1 @ Willhills.

  11. Re: UEFA Cup 21 February I fancy Spurs to beat Slavia, but can't back at that price so i'm going to back Robbie Keane to score at anytime 6/5 @ Bet365. He's scored 20 in 35 games, 4 of them in europe and i belive he's having his best season so far, if Spurs are going to win i expect Keane to be on the scoresheet.

Leeds seem to be giving a lot to Catalan, and Wigan -6 looks decent, depending on Hulls team news, more later....
  13. Re: Rugby League: Super League XIII - Round 2

whata try by Morrison. Did somebody on here at the end of last season back him to score a couple of times? (Ronnie? Mearl?) Well done Ronnie with HKR. If you saw in my first post I thought HRK were worth a dabble. When I read Chev Walker was out though I decided to leave it be but well done for picking HKR and going through with it :ok
Tend to go for anytime scorers, Morrison was tipped last season as was Finnegan when he was at Salford, just picked the wrong guy tonight.
    Nice call on HKR Ronnie.
Cheers, nice to get one right :ok
