Final is here then. Wright takes on Smith. Both players have a similar average throughout this tournament and similar stats throughout. Wright has the better head-to-head and I think he wins tonight, purely because I think the only way he wins tonight is by a big margin. Smith has much scar tissue when it comes to getting to the latter stages and losing and although he has been really good with his checkouts, I wonder if he still hits them in a big final.
I think it's worth taking the 3/1 on Wright having most 180s. There are going to be 180s galore tonight but I don't think it's more than 50/50 on who gets the most.

Some top quality stuff last few days. Kinda gutted that Rydz was so close to hitting the 20/1 quarter bet but Wright came in with a win and most 180s. Small loss on the day. I think I'm going to take Wright to win and hit the most 180s again. Wright looks the most likely winner for me now as a former champion.  Smith hitting most 180s in his match is about asmuch as a guarantee as you'll see and so if you we think Smith and Wright go through to the final, I'll take the double

I like Anderson in the first. I would have thought that alot of players are thinking they have a great chance here as people are dropping like flies with the Coronavirus. I think Anderson comes through this match. White doesn't tend to go too deep in the big TV tournaments and is more of a floor player, in the past. I'll take Anderson to win and hit the most 180s. 
In the 2nd match Price takes on Van Duijvenbode. I thought DVD was rubbish in the first couple of sets against Ross. Ross really threw that match away but Price wont let that happen here and the simple bet is for Price to win but DVD to have the most 180s.
Third match is Clayton for me. Smith was awesome in his first match and to be fair he was decent enough in the last match but there was some frailties there with the doubling again and I think aslong as Clayton scores well enough he should come through it.

I think Jim Williams looks a good bet against Evetts tonight. Evetts many will remember went out 3-2 to Fallon Sherrock and now he faces a pretty decent player in Jim Williams. Williams had a decent Grand Slam Of Darts, where he beat James Wade. He will need to start well tonight but if he can, I can see him coming through 3-1/3-2. Next I like is Rowby Rodriguez. He has been really good in spells at the Super Series and he faces a bang out of form Nick Kenny. I actually tipped Kenny to win his group very early into covid a few years ago and he won that group. We've not seen him play well since. Finally, I'll take Hunt to beat Krcmar. I like Hunt as a player and if he can win, he should hit the most 180s.

So Ronnie is playing like cr*p but nobody seems to be able to play their own game against him and beat him. He plays Jimmy Robertson today, who has played some good stuff for a while now but Ronnie has beaten him 4-0 in the last 2 matches and so he'll likely bottle it today. I'm not interested in a single bet in that match and the only decent bet I want is Neil Robertson to beat Selby. For all his problems, Neil has slowly improved his form and he has a good h2h record against Selby. Selby looked very average in his first match and although he looked good against Ford, I think Robbo wins that match.
There's a 7/2 special with PP that I'll take too and it's Neil Robertson, Bingham and Ronnie to win. Bingham has a good record against Maguire and Maguire has had a few poor performances against him. Bingham has managed to knock 2 of my outright bets out now and seems to find a way everytime. I've seen him hit more doubles than a pool match. I think he beats Maguire and I reckon Jimmy will bottle it and "do a vafaei".

Turkgucu Munchen - Kaiserslautern

Not the biggest odds here, but feeling super comfortable with the +0 line - first of all, no fans are allowed in the tradition-rich Olympiastadion. A home factor is thus barely existing, especially because Turkgucu started the season in another stadium. Then, Turkgucu are still without a new manager after Hyballa has been fired. They have shown slightly positive tendencies among interims manager Kayabunar, but still the performances among him were far away from being convicing. They were lucky to keep a draw at home against rather weak Zwickau (1:1) when they only had 3 chances in the entire match. And last week, they could have easily been behind 3:0 after 10 minutes away at Viktoria Berlin and only after Viktoria were down to 10 men, Turkgucu started creating chances. All in all, Turkgucu have been the biggest disappointment in 3. Liga so far. In theory, they have a good and very experienced squad, but in practise, they just never deliver. Their style is also just too predictable with every attack being started with playmaker Sararer. They have big problems in terms of creativity and are among the teams in this league that create the fewest chances.

Kaiserslautern are truly one class stronger at the moment. They have been in a terrific form since the derby against Mannheim, when they achieved a 0:0, after being unjustifiably down to 9 men in the first half. This game somehow brought a really good spirit to the team and since then, they did not make a single bad game anymore. They are on a 7-2-1 run and are currently probably the best team in the league behind Magdeburg. Today they are without their important player Götze, but Tomiak returns after his yellow lock. And Götze was missing in many games before already and also without him, they have shown good performances. So his missing should be bearable. Also their manager Antwerpen will not be available today but again, this should not be a too big disadvantage.

Altogether, differences between both sides are just massive. Turkgucu play much worse and have not won any of their last 6 games. On the other hand, Kaiserslautern have been on fire and they also play very well away from home. A draw should be the maximum for Turkgucu which is why I really fancy the +0 here and don't see too much risk for losing this one.

that's mad. Must have been some serious fouls in that one. One I like for this afternoon is Hang to beat Murphy. Murphy has been poor over the last month or so. Lost to Jiahai and had a little paddy fit about it and how amateurs shouldn't get into these tournaments and then he struggled big time against lady player Ng Yee. 3-1 down and won 4-3. He says now that he has an injury. I'm not sure if that's true or not but either way, I think Hang is value to win and even on the -1.5 handicap

We're getting to the latter stages of the tournament now. By end of play tonight it will be the Quarter Finals mapped out and many big names have fallen. Here is the today's line up :
Hamilton Vs Brecel (1pm)

Gilbert Vs Hicks (7pm)
Hamilton can probably consider himself somewhat fortunate of having the chance to make a Quarter Finals of a ranking event when he plays Luca Brecel today. My outright pick pre tournament of Mark Williams looked in great shape until he fell asleep and was shattered with post covid tiredness against him and got hit with a deciding frame fluke, too. Sour grapes aside, Hamilton has a highest break of 88 in the tournament and you're not going to make the latter stages with scoring like that. The match against Walden was awful and on the other hand, Brecel looks to be in abit of form as of late. Maguire never turned up in the last round, but he done the job with a whitewash and he also rather annoyingly took out Tom Ford with a deciding leg after going down 4-5. I think he beats Hamilton with a couple to spare but the value just isn't there for an outright pick.
In the other 1pm match, Jack Lisowski takes on Vafaei. Vafaei has had some big scalps over the last couple of tournaments with big wins against Ronnie and Selby and he has also beaten Allen this season. Inevitbile, the level of play always reduces after a big win though and it put me off backing Vafaei in the last round. We see it all the time, losing to Higginson after beating Ronnie for example this season and it's something to be mindful of. He didn't play particularly great in his win over Guodong, but it was enough for him to win without too much fuss. He will have a harder match today as Lisowski has been pretty impressive in this tournament, with a couple of centuries and 9 50+ breaks in his 3 matches won. Dott could have been a tricky match for Lisowski but he won with ease. Lisowski has a good record against Vafaei, winning 4 of the 5 they've played and that includes winning the last 3. 2 of those 3 were last year and 2 of those 3 were also 4-0 whitewashes. I think Lisowski goes through here.
In the evening matches, Selt plays Hawkins after his thumping of Trump. Selt has had quite a hard route compared to a few others. Bingyu is no mean feat and then he had Perry and Trump. Hawkins has beat Reanne Evans, Yang and Yupeng. Only Yupeng has really put up any kind of resistance though as the other 2 opponents didn't hit a 50+ break between them. It will be interesting to see if Hawkins form continues when he plays somebody who comes back at him. Like I said above, a player tends to lose abit of form after a big win and beating Trump was certainly a big win. Hawkins has beaten in the last couple of matches, including a 10-3 thrashing at the World Championships so that head-to-head record along with likely drop after beating Trump makes me think Hawkins probably goes through. Selt abit of value if Hawkins buckles under abit of scoring pressure.
Finally, final pre-tournament pick, Gilbert takes on Hicks. I thought Mark Allen would go on and win this tournament if I'm honest, before the Gilbert match and at 5-2 up you would think that was a step closer, but Gilbert came back and won 4 in a row and now he has a great chance of going deep here. I fancy him to beat Hicks tonight. He is playing some great stuff and has already won an event this year. Allen probably helped Gilbert in that match but it's up to Gilbert to now take the bull by the horn and go on. He has every chance of making the Quarters and beyond. Nevertheless, the bookies are being abit ridiculous in putting the handicap at -3.5 and offering Hicks at 11/10 on the +3.5 and I'll take that in the 4-fold.

The 18/1 let down by Selt being bloody awful. 3-1 up at the break, you could have said "First to 50" and he'd lost 50-3. 5 frames lost in a row with lots of chances. It's money back on the one lost leg atleast and Hicks has done the job no matter what now (currently 5-4 Hicks) Lisowski also did the job against Vafaei and covering the handicap. Yesterday, McGill also covered the handicap. Onto the Quarters.
