  1. You think that is bad. Try what I just experienced in the Challenger tournament in Poland

Alexander Bury (Ranked 1600 in the world, ranked over 100 in doubles, in 30s) v Dustin Brown (105 in the world) on clay and past finalist in this tournament

The handicap is set at 18.5 games

Brown takes 1st set 6-3, he is 5-0 up. Throws 4 straight games with some half effort trick shots. Then has no problem serving it out to cover the over 18.5 games by 0.5 margin

Brown won 6-3 6-4 (was 5-0 up in 2nd set)

  2. Opening bet of year, not big stakes mind simply because not worth it at this time

Bojana Coric 2/1 v Hyeon Chung @ ATP Chennai Bet365

Bojana Coric was a finalist last year and produced some decent performances v some bigger names throughout the year on the hard court surface whilst Chung played majority of his on the challenger. I don't understand these odds unless we believe Chung has the advantage of playing a few matches in qualifying

    Hopman Cup and stuff :ok

Happy New Year to you Czech Punter, BOL with your picks again this year

Would you have any insight into the Czech Republic Hopman Cup opening matches. Any value in the match ups?

Hradecka called up to replace Kvitova and faces Coco Vandeveghe, from patches I saw last year of both they seem to be vulnerable on the second serve and can mentally drift out of matches?

    and Pavlasek v Sock

  4. Been watching the Pliskova (Kr) match v Hsieh and you're spot on with your analysis here Czech punter mate. The variety in Hsieh's game with the slices and drop shots and her agility is superior to Kristina on this surface. Most people would have automatically thought "Pliskova on home soil" but Hsieh has been value for money. The only problem I've had with Hsieh throughout her career is her service can be questionable but today she has stepped up.

I jumped on after she won the 2nd set @ 2.50 and have you to thank in big part.

  5. Anna-Lena Friedsam to beat Johanna Larsson bet365 @ 2.20

Anna-Lena Friedsam +1.5 sets to beat Johanna Larsson @ 1.45

Surprised to see such longer odds on Friedsam. She has been serving very well this week and is better around the net than Larsson. Larsson was lucky that Brengle had very little plan B and some of the questionable positioning during yesterday went unpunished (some out of place second serve and run to net leaving her exposed in the middle of the court). Brengle's game is about making you play until a mistake but Friedsam will be looking to attack and it will put Larsson under pressure and she isn't the mentally strongest player

Freidsam may have been beaten by Larsson on clay in the head to head record (6-3 7-5... not so emphatic) but overall Freidsam has been more consistent indoors than Larsson throughout their careers. I'm happy to back Friedsam on this one

  6. WTA Tokyo, Japan Alison Riske to beat Saisai Zheng @ 1.57 (Bet365) Alison Riske -3.5 games to beat Saisai Zheng @ 2.00 (Sportsbet Australia) Saisai Zheng won her 1st WTA title on the weekend @ home country tournament in Dalian but most of the wins came against fellow Chinese girls plus a final against Julia Glushko (out of form). Before that she was on a poor stretch of games on hardcourt losing mainly against the run of the mill lower WTA tournament girls. The next tournament the following week will be in Guangzhou, China; where Saisai Zheng is entered into the main draw so I'd be leaning on her mind being set on keeping fresh for another run at her home tournament. Saisai also won the doubles tournament in Dalian too so she's played 8 matches in the last week Riske is on a losing run too but last 4 opponents are more than decent (Wozniacki, Bouchard, Svitolina plus a game v Witthoeft). Riske has a 3-0 head to head record v Zheng and has covered a 4 game handicap each time. On the 2 hardcourt meetings, including one in China, Riske won 6-1 6-0 (in China 2014) and 6-2 6-2 (Australian Open 2013). One meeting on grass this year finished 6-3 6-4. I'm happy to back Riske to bounce back into form this tournament after a run of difficult games on the hardcourt.

  7. Re: May 4 - May 10 Small late punt on Mitu 1st set @ 2.00 Mitu has 15 games on clay experience and Lepchenko has not played a full match on clay (retired v Mitu a set down at Charlston a month ago). Granted Mitu hasn't really beaten many "big names" on clay (well Bouchard is a big name but in poor form) but Lepchenko is in a very poor patch of form in 2015 It might take a while for Lepchenko to get going so I take a punt on Mitu

  8. Re: April 13 - April 19 Katerina Bondarenko 2.00 v Siniakova (WTA Porsche - clay) Siniakova may have beaten Bondarenko last year outdoors in Bad Gastein on clay in 3 sets but I remember Bondarenko was coming back on the tour after 2 years away from the tour after having a baby The more experienced player here and had a bit of experience on clay with a few matches in Charleston behind her back, I will take the money on Bondarenko in a 50/50 contest

  9. Re: Pre-Season - January 11

I'll back Chanelle Scheepers to beat Tsvetana Pironkova WTA Sydney qualifying @ $2.64 - Sportsbet Two very unpredictable ladies. Both coming off similar 3 set losses with same number of games won/lost in Brisbane and Auckland. Pironkova is defending champion of Sydney and has point to defend but is very inconsistent, I don't see this being easy 1st round opposition for her and may crumble under the pressure of being defending champion. Small dab on the underdog
It was inconsistent by both ladies to say the least. First 2 sets went for 2 hours with no tiebreak (6-3 2-6) given most of the games went to 40. Pironkova lifted in the 3rd set and won the match after losing the 2nd :\ Donna Vekic ($2.50) up next for Pironkova ($1.50), another inconsistent but younger opponent. I will not back either but I don't feel Pironkova will qualify even as 1st seed in qualifying. Vekic then possibly Schmeidlova. I think she has her work cut out this year

  11. Re: July 22 - July 28

Makes me sick how these players just give up because they know they are going to lose. Gutless!
Agreed In the last two days I had two single bets on Hanescu 1.96 v Bautista-agut and Ons Jabeur 1.50 v Linette Both a set and a break up and Bautista-agut retired with some "back" injury when about to lose. Ons Jabeur was a different case, she was leading a set and 4-1 and retired ahead Still peeved about it now
  12. Hopefully I am not breaking any rules in starting this a couple weeks early but need some thoughts on Molde v Sligo Molde not doing too well in Norway, Sligo a team from Rep Ireland I can currently get 1.70 for Molde to qualify for the next round..... is this a trap or is there some value in this? :unsure Opening leg in Ireland if I'm not mistken

  13. Re: French Open 2013

Some really good games today in this 3rd round & defiantely will be parting with some cash today Francesca Schiavone(-2.5 games) to beat Marion Bartoli French Open @1.8 Paddypower(7/10) Bartoli has scrapped through Rounds One & Two by the skin of her teeth.Today she meets a true Clay court player in Schiavone.FS beat Flipkens last round & always seems to show her best form vs seeded players in big events.I just can't see how Bartoli can beat FS today & really good price on the handicap.7pts win
Great call Pensioner. She did it easy with 6 spare games Bartloli is awful these days
  14. Re: FA Cup Quarter Finals > 9th - 10th March Rooney anytime scorer 2.10 (sportsbet Australia) I think he and Sir Alex will have a chance to prove the negative headlines wrong and with him not starting v Real Madrid, I would suspect he will be starting v Chelsea Him to score anytime seems like a decent bet at 2/1 given his natural hunger to put things 'right'

  15. Re: February 4 - February 10 I was interested in Safarova's opening price, now at 1.95.... something tells me this could be value except for Safarova's all gun blazing style of play I saw in the GDF tournament. She has a habit of playing with no brains when she doesn't have the margin for error to do so Stosur hasn't played since the Australian Open and isn't in the greatest of form but it looks like she will be fighting to avoid a 2-0 deficit for Australia Czech Punter about?

  16. Re: Liverpool v Norwich > Sat 19th January Daniel Sturridge anytime goalscorer @ 1.80 Anfield debut - plenty of strikers have signed on at Anfield and scored on debut. This could be a good chance for Sturridge to do so in front of the Liverpool faithful as he will start with Suarez in attack. Seeing how Suarez singlehandedly tore apart Michael Turner and co at Carrow Road - this will benefit Sturridge and he may benefit from the attention Suarez will receive.
