  1. Re: A Question & Idea I find this particular section of P L quite boring , to a newby it just looks like pages and pages of individual tips. I know that members who do post tips put in a lot of time and effort , and it is interesting to read their opinions and angles. Some go for value bets whilst another tipster is predictable and "gilt edged" to go for the shortest priced horse every single day , all very interesting to read though and helpful for anticipating which direction the market is going to go later for laying purposes. I would like to see more topical debates/ discussions which there seems to be a lack of. I have on occassions tried to get discussions started but they have died of death for whatever reason.

  2. Re: Question Of The Day Cant stand that Lesley Graham , always a fake smile even though half the nation has just done their bo-llocks in on a nationwide gamble which just got turned over. Alice Plunket is a younger version of her but just as false. Same questions to every winning jockey , " ...enjoy the moment ..." Cant stand them cricket players turned racing experts , their lack of knowledge come across instantly. Used to dislike that Tanya but after about a decade I've started to warm to her , not quite sure why I didn't like her , either she wasn't sexy enough or her presenting skills were not up to scratch , but whichever it is she certainly does know her stuff.

  3. Re: Question Of The Day BBC Racing used to be good many years ago. But now down to only a handful of meetings I'm glad it has gone to C4. I used to like the presenters like O'Sullivan , Lindley , Lynam etc , but their replacements such as Balding and Rishi were awful. I found Balding extremeley rude especially the post Grand National interview with journeyman jockey Treadwell where she mocked him about his teeth after the biggest win of his career. She did it again with another journeyman jockey a couple of years later telling viewers he had a tattoo of his favorite football team misspelled on his back. Rishi is awful at interviewing and comes across as an ar-selicker. Glad they got rid of that arrogant little man James Sherwood at Royal Ascot who loved to put people down if not dressed to his taste. Only problem is that they replaced him with someone just as irritating. Hope C4 don't concentrate on the fashion.

  4. Re: Cheltenham Chat

Yeah I think if I hear Cheltenham again tomorrow, I'm going to scream. :) PL had some great offers from the bookies and I don't think I've ever worked that hard in 4 days ever! :lol We'll be even better for 2013. :ok
Some very good offers this week , however as most members around here are into gambling they may already have accounts opened so may not be entitled to the offers. Would be great if you can get us some great deals on existing accounts for Aintree Thanks
  5. Re: Coral - £50 Free Bet for all 4 Days of Cheltenham - PL Exclusive!

erhaab1965' date=' please call Customer Services[left'] on 0800 440011 for a speedier response. Obviously, we're running at capacity over Cheltenham, so the phone is the best way to get this resolved
gave them a call , after 10 minutes of security questions etc , i was told i would be manually credited after further investigation. Got my free be credited this morning . Thanks
  6. Re: Coral - £50 Free Bet for all 4 Days of Cheltenham - PL Exclusive!

Please either log in to your

Coral account and send us an E-message quoting "Punterslounge 4 x £50 Free Bets" or email us via

[email protected], quoting the same and we will resolve. Thanks

e messaged them at straight after reading this reply yesterday , still no reply , still no free bet. I wouldn't have made the second deposit if this was going to happen.
  7. Re: Coral - £50 Free Bet for all 4 Days of Cheltenham - PL Exclusive!

You are entitled to three further matched deposit bonuses up to £50 each. To claim tomorrow' date=' make a deposit after 10:30am GMT and bet. You will then be credited with a second free bet of that amount to use during the day. Repeat this on Thursday and Friday if you wish. :ok[/quote'] i deposited my 2nd £50 and bet it all , however this time no free bonus appeared ,how do i get to use the bonus ?
  8. Re: Coral - £50 Free Bet for all 4 Days of Cheltenham - PL Exclusive! Today I opened an account and deposited and bet £50 and got my free £50 . The terms and conditions are a little confusing to me. To trigger of the next 3 free bets do i need to make 3 more £50 deposits ? Or can I simply bet £50 from my remaining balance for the next 3 days. If its the latter can I place and recieve my free bets just after midnght , cos I've got work in the morning.

  9. Re: The Cheltenham Bankers

Big Bucks is my lay of the festival. The streak will surely come to end someday and this looks his toughest task to date. There are so many decent animals in the World Hurdle this year. Oscar Whisky improves every time he steps up in distance and I expect him to get the better of BB. Plus there are several quality Irish horses in the race this year. Should be a cracking race!
Big Bucks is my banker of the entire Cheltenham festival , been putting some of my profits on all through the winter . He's been short all winter however the money invested will return a much higher return than in a high interest account. Can't see why you would say he's your lay of the festival , theres nothing to suggest so far that he will get beat , hopefully his winning steak will not come to an end , come on Big Bucks !!
  10. Re: The Cheltenham Bankers I very much like the mare Quevega but why has she only had 2 races the last 2 seasons ? Has she had training /injury problems . Is the 10 month breaks by design ? If she reproduces her winning performances she's got a great chance , but to come here after almost a year off , can she be called the " biggest banker of the year " ? How many of you out there are prepared to put a maximum bet on her ?

  11. Re: Flat Jockeys Championship 2012 - Who will be top jockey? I think Fallon at this stage is a good bet. He is at the twilight of his career but still good enough to bag in the winners on a regular basis. If he gets a good start , that will give him the momentum and motivation to see it through to the end of the season. If he's not in contention by mid summer , then he won't make the effort for the remainder of the season. R Hughes a talented but lazy jockey only makes an effort if there is something worthwhile at the end , no wonder Khaled Abdulla gave him the boot. Strange how some punters are talking about Joe Fanning as if he's recently been discovered. For those who don't know , he must be at least 40 probably a little over and he's been riding for Mark Johnston for 20 years probably more. Hes just benefitted more in recent years from the retirement of Dalglish , Darley , Weaver and Fairley

  12. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

It happens in every race' date=' every day. 50% of fields don't try, especially in maidens. A horse like Ballabriggs who everybody knows is being aimed at the national is one to stay away from, as it is obvious the horse would not be given a hard time. If you as a punter can't latch onto that information, i think it's your own tough poo-poo.. It is like Burton Port lto against Long Run, it was minded in the last part of the race. Can you blame them? No. Horses aren't machines, they can't give 100% every time they run.[/quote'] Why should lesser trainers/jockeys get done with the non triers rule or done for public schooling when Ballybriggs was blatently not trained / ridden to win . Because the horse has a bigger target for later in the season does that make the connections immune from the stewards ?
  13. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread I hate it when trainers run their horses for merely a day in the countryside. Donald McCain ran his Grand National winner Ballybriggs at Kelso today to get it spot on for the National . From a punting point of view this is out of order. Is the horse fully fit or not ? If not then why not ? Afterall horseracing revolves around betting and realistically he should have won if he ran to his true ability. I believe that if you run a horse , you should be aiming to win . If you want to get it fit , don't do it at the expense of punters. For those who don't know , Ballybriggs ran in the same race last year and got turned over at odds on . Not talking through my pocket , because I didn't bet on either occassion .

  14. Re: RIP josh gifford

Never been a fan of the Gifford's as a punter , because their horses are not trained to win races in succession. Sad news nevertheless. The stable can get one to win when the occasion is right , just like Royal Wedding on the day of the Royal Wedding last year. From a punting perspective , keep an eye on his next few runners , I'll certainly be backing them blind.
Well done to those who backed him blind , he hit the cross bar a couple of times but eventually had an 8/1 winner who hacked up.
  15. Re: Silvestre De Sousa signs for Godolphin! Mikeal Barzalona has now also signed too . Looks like they are both being groomed to take over Dettori , who I recon is preparing for retirement from race riding . When Frankie made his comeback from his plane crash he said he sees himself riding for another 10 yrs , that was 12 yrs ago. He may be considering a new career presenting Top of The Pops.

  16. Re: The Jockey Thread

Richard Hills on Entifadaah or whatever its called at Meydan... Looked a certain winner' date=' traded as low as 1.08.... Surprise Surprise, caught on the line.. Weak in a finish[/quote'] I think you are looking at any excuse to have a go at him , he came from miles behind and was just done in a photo.
  17. Re: The Jockey Thread

. I don't have a clue who's going to take over can't see former second jockey's getting the job like Supple , Dwyer or O'Shea and the current champion jockey has virtually no experience in riding top class horses.
I was right about Supple , Dwyer and O'Shea , but wasn't expecting Hanagan to get it . Lets hope he's as successful as R Hills, good luck. Anybody got any custard ? My humble pie seems a little dry .
  18. Re: The Jockey Thread

Jeez' date=' mate. Give up already. I know you've watched him long time ago and I know he's probably been a lot better in the past, but that's the one thing that is plain to see - he is ridiculously weak in a finish. Stop being so stubborn and admit it that other people might actually be right in this case.[/quote'] I'm well aware that he is nearly 50 and nowhere near his prime however some on here are going to the extreme by suggesting he's the worst jockey around.
  19. Re: The Jockey Thread

I'm not overly comfortable slagging off Jockeys.... I'll shout at em as much as the next man but not after they have earned an honourable retirement... For what it's worth, I think Richard Hills was - by far - the best judge of pace in the weighing room for a very long time. Jockeys probably don't retire at their peak but neither do footballers, tennis players, golfers etc etc but they seem to be immune to the abuse jockeys get. I'm greatful for em! Good or bad, we need em to put their necks on the line every day for our entertainment and hopefully our wealth!! Winning the QE2 (I think it was that race) on Maroof at 66/1 was brilliant. Rode a field of superstars to sleep - not that anyone would thank him for it given it was the complete outsider.... Happy Retirement Mr Hills - will be looking out for your last runner in the coming weeks!
Yes Maroof was a fantastic ride nearly 20 yrs ago , he went on to beat Willie Carson (first jockey)a few more times in Group 1s
  20. Re: The Jockey Thread

A jockey's job is to win races. Richard Hills was the weakest jockey i have ever seen in a finish. He is up there with Barbara Butterworth.
From a punting perspective , yes their job is to win , however as we both know that is not the case all the time for one reason or another . Your comment about him being weak is ludicrous , don't think Sheikh Hamdan or Angus Gold would agree with you.
