  1. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Back in profit overall, yeah hey! 2. Re: England: Premier Nov 26-27 All prices taken with Betfair. Bolton v Everton - LAY Everton @ 2.46 Everton have flattered to deceive at times this season, they struggled past a not very good Wolves side last weekend and their away form hasn't been that great this season. A win against Blackburn (who missed two penalties) and a late win against Fulham (after Zamora missed a glorious chance). I do still rate this Everton side they've got some undoubted quality but I don't rate their current form and with doubts over key players in Rodwell and Distin I think they are worth taking on against a Bolton side, despite their home form this season, are usually a tough opposition at the Reebok Stadium. West Brom v Tottenham - LAY West Brom @ 5.40 Tottenham really are flying at present, when they play well they win comfortably and they can seemingly grind out result when playing no where near the best. West Brom have injury doubts over Odemwingie & Long, without thoose two West Brom carry little goal threat and even if they are involved I find it difficult to see them beating this in-form Tottenham side. Arsenal v Fulham - LAY Over 3.5 goals @ 2.86 Unusual that I go for a unders goal market in an Arsenal game but I feel Arsenal have improved defensively recently and with Fulham seemingly carry little goal threat away from home I won't at all be surprised with a clean sheet for Arsenal here. Maybe slightly dangerous with Van Persie in such great form, but Arsenal come into this on the back of a European midweek game and I was find that can result in slow starts to the game. Fulham are usually happy to setback away from home and I think more than three goals is unlikely here. Liverpool v Man City - LAY Man City @ 2.70 May have missed a better price of laying Man City here but they have drifted quite a lot. Understandly so though they come into this game on the back of a tough away game and defeat in Naples, in contrast the Liverpool players will be fresh with no game midweek. The home side will also be high in confidence having beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Obviously you'd give Man City the edge in terms of quality but given the situation and the fact the Liverpool often seem to rise to the big occassions at Anfield, I don't think Man City warrant being favourites. You may point to the 1-5 at Tottenham and 1-6 at Man United, but you've got to remember the context of thoose games. Think the opposition was foolish in both games and tried chasing the game too hard which then led to the big scoreline. Don't think this Liverpool team will make the same mistakes, you'd expect a close game but I've got a sneaking feeling that Liverpool will win this one.

  3. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? I'm going to save a little time from now on and not post up the liability and potential, I continue to follow the same staking plan a soutlined earlier in this topic. Onto the weekend's PL games then. 7. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Thanks aliando, keep going I shall. Just watching this game now and can't help but lay the away side here who have started very slowly in this game, expect the home side to win here but got the draw on my side also here with the lay. Bet 121: Bochum v Cottbus (in-play '20) - LAY Cottbus @ 5.1 Liability of £0.61 to win £0.14

  8. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Decent enough weekend with five winners and two losers netting me a 34 pence profit on the weekend. Bet 114: Norwich v Arsenal - BACK Arsenal @ 1.73 +£0.23 Bet 115: Man City v Newcastle - BACK Man City @ 1.35 +£0.13 Bet 116: Stoke v QPR - BACK Stoke @ 1.88 -£0.27 Bet 117: Sunderland v Fulham - LAY Fulham @ 3.45 +£0.23 Bet 118: West Brom v Bolton - LAY West Brom @ 2.08 -£0.26 Bet 119: Wigan v Blackburn - LAY 0-0 @ 12.5 +£0.05 Bet 120: Chelsea v Liverpool - LAY Chelsea HT/FT @ 3.20 +£0.23 New Bank: £12.19

  9. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Bet 120: Chelsea v Liverpool - LAY Chelsea HT/FT @ 3.20 Liability of £0.53 to win £0.23 Liverpool always seem to put up a good fight against Chelsea and I can't see this being any different. Happy to lay Chelsea HT/FT here because they have the habit of starting games slowly this season at home and have been lucky to only have dropped points once against Arsenal at home this season.

  10. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Chile won comfortably 2-0 in the end, onto this week's Premier League games now. Bet 113: Chile v Paraguay (in-play '10) - LAY Paraguay @ 5.5 +£0.13 New Bank: £11.85 --------------- Bet 114: Norwich v Arsenal - BACK Arsenal @ 1.73 Liability of £0.33 to win £0.23 Arsenal have really impressed in their recent Premier League performances the return of Vermaelen at the back has improved them further. Norwich have had a bright start to the season but can't help but think they've rode their luck in a few games this season and I think the Gunners will prove to strong for them here. Bet 115: Man City v Newcastle - BACK Man City @ 1.35 Liability of £0.39 to win £0.13 It's hard to oppose Man City at present even if up against the league's surprise packagae this season in Newcastle. The Toon have good plenty of injury doubts also which means they won't be able to field the side that has done so well for them this season. Bet 116: Stoke v QPR - BACK Stoke @ 1.88 Liability of £0.27 to win £0.23 Stoke have gone through a bit of a rough patch at present, think the Europa League has effected their Premier League form somewhat. Although they've never been a great away side but at Britannia they can usually be counted upon. The international break will have helped them I think and given some of their players time to refresh. Bet 117: Sunderland v Fulham - LAY Fulham @ 3.45 Liability of £0.58 to win £0.23 You'd probably say fairly evenly matched teams but Fulham's awful away record against Sunderland's usually strong form at home is enough for me to lay the visitors here. I laid Fulham away at Wigan and they won but I thought they where rather lucky the day to win. Bet 118: West Brom v Bolton - LAY West Brom @ 2.08 Liability of £0.26 to win £0.23 Both teams battling away near the bottom of the table and West Brom have shown really poor form recently even if defeats against Arsenal and Liverpool may be expected. Bolton have improved in the last two games in my opinion, away game at Swansea was quite even until reduced to ten men. They got a moral boasting big win against Stoke last up and I think there's a good chance of them getting something against a West Brom side that's been poor in recent weeks and carries a few injury doubts into this one. Bet 119: Wigan v Blackburn - LAY 0-0 @ 12.5 Liability of £0.57 to win £0.05 Does have the potential to turn into a cagey tight game this but given both sides defensive records and the fact key personnel from both defenses for teams are missing, Wigan (Alcaraz) and Blackburn (Lowe & possibly Samba). Plus the fact these two teams have been invovled in high-scoring games in the past is enough to suggest a 0-0 is unlikely here.

  11. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Thanks Scotty, it is slow going but would be nice to look back on one day if I manage to turn this into a reasonable amount. Bet 113: Chile v Paraguay (in-play '10) - LAY Paraguay @ 5.5 Liability of £0.63 to win £0.13 Chile started this game brightly, find it difficult to see Paraguay getting anything out of this game. But I'll play on the side of caution and lay the away side here.

  12. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Two bets for today: Bet 111: Qatar v Bahrain - LAY Bahrain @ 4.90 Liability of £0.55 to win £0.13 A point for Qatar here is enough for them to qualify to the next round of WC qualfying. Bet 112: Croatia v Turkey - BACK Croatia @ 1.76 Liability of £0.32 to win £0.23 Croatia went to Turkey and won 3-0, therefore it's a very steep task for Turkey to overcome here, they've nothing to lose in a way so they will surely look to attack Croatia. Think that could play into Croatia's hands and I think the price about them here looks good.

  13. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? England keeping a clean sheet against Spain, never saw that one coming. Bet 109: Czech Republic v Montenegro - LAY Czech Republic @ 1.80 -£0.19 Bet 110: England v Spain - LAY under 1.5 goals @ 3.30 -£0.58 New Bank: £11.91

  14. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Last one was a loser, shall update fully after this one today. Don't usually like betting friendlies but think the likelihood of goals in the England/Spain game has been vastly under-rated. England very rarely keep clean sheets and Spain are one of the most free-flowing country in international football. Think there's a very good chance of at least two goals in this one. Bet 110: England v Spain - LAY under 1.5 goals @ 3.30 Liability of £0.57 to win £0.24

  15. Re: Euro 2012 Playoffs > Friday 11th November Just one bet for me. Czech Republic v Montenegro - LAY Czech Republic @ 1.80 (Betfair) Think the Czech Republic odds here are out of line with the other play-off games and also with what I'd expect it to be. Considering the play-off contains all teams that finished runners-up in their groups you'd expect them to be of similiar qualities. True the Czech Republic had a tough task in their group with Spain predictably winning that group with ease. That being said Montengero faired well in a group that contained England and a few decent international teams if not brilliant. From what I've sene of both teams I don't think there's that much different in quality, you'd obviously give the Czechs the edge in this game with them being a more expereinced international side. But there's deinitley something to like about this Montenegro side, they have got a few top-class individuals but it's the way the work as a team that is most impressive. They lost their last two away qualifiers in the group but an away win at Bulgaria and a goalless draw at Wembley show the Montenegrin are capable of getting something for this play-off first leg.

  18. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? All my weekend bets up now. Bet 102: Aston Villa v Norwich - LAY Norwich @ 4.9 Liability of £0.55 to win £0.13 Norwich have had a good start to the season but can't help but think the results have flattered them a little. A very dubious penalty saw them grab a late point at home to Blackburn and despite a strong second half showing against Liverpool, I thought they could have easily been 3 or 4-0 down in the first half hour of that game. Overlal there's obvious doubts about Norwich's defense, Aston Villa without be spectacular are usually pretty reliable at home. Bet 103: Aston Villa v Norwich - LAY under 1.5 goals @ 4.00 Liability of £0.42 to win £0.13 The aforementioned Norwich defense is partly behind this bet but also I don't think Villa have been particular good defensively this season. Therefore I'm thinking there should be at least a couple of goals in this game. Bet 104: QPR v Man City - BACK Man City @ 1.38 Liability of £0.35 to win £0.13 Man City look in top form right now, their strength depth is unrivaled in the league in my opinion. They could quite possibly field two different elevens and beat most Premier League sides. Like I mentioned last week I don't rate QPR that highly, they got blown away against Tottenham in their game last week. Although to be fair to them they did play better in the second half of that game. Overall though it's hard to look past a Man City will especially since QPR seem a little wasteful in front of goal, whilst City are just the opposite. Bet 105: Everton v Newcastle - BACK under 2.5 goals @ 1.88 Liability of £0.27 to win £0.23 This one has got tight game written all over it. One because Everton usually set-up to be defensively sound away from home and secondly because Newcastle defense has improved massively this season from last. Bet 106: Wolves v Wigan - LAY Wolves @ 2.02 Liability of £0.24 to win £0.23 A meeting of two teams with a bad run of results. For me Wigan have shown signs of improvement in their last two games whereas Wolves look a struggling outfit. Wolves also have the issue of the home fans getting on the back of the manager and team which could play a part in this game. Don't think Wolves warrant being around evens for this game if you consider their recent home results. Won't be easy for Wigan though be they are capable of getting something from this game. Bet 107: Bolton v Stoke - LAY Stoke @ 3.20 Liability of £0.53 to win £0.23 Main two reasons behind this bet are Stoke's awful away record in the Premier League and the fact they come into this game on the back of a Europa League game. Whilst these factors alone seem convincing reasons to oppose Stoke, I also think Bolton aren't a bad a team as their form suggests. They've still got decent well-established Premier League players and up until this season at least their record at the Reebok was good. Bet 108: Fulham v Tottenham - LAY Fulham @ 3.45 Liability of £0.59 to win £0.23 I'm still a bit unconvinced by Fulham so far this season. There's no doubting they've got some quality players but they often flatter to deceive. Meanwhile Tottenham are probably the in-form team in the Premier League along with Man City at the moment. A lot of the Tottenham players will be fresh having been rested for the Europa League meanwhile Fulham played their first team for their tie. Fancy Tottenham to continue their good form and get at least a point from this one.

  19. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Three winners for tonight, just the way I like it. A little landmark passed I suppose as well with me going beyond 100 bets on this Glory Hunt. Bet 99: Rubin Kazan v Tottenham - LAY Over 3.5 goals @ 3.75 +£0.13 Bet 100: Maccabi Tel Aviv v Stoke - LAY Over 3.5 goals @ 3.85 +£0.13 Bet 101: Fulham v Wisla Krakow - BACK Fulham @ 1.32 +£0.12 New Bank: £12.35 and to celebrate my 100 bet landmark, I graph of my progress. I do like a good graph to ponder over every now and again. 100betsx.png

  20. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Bet101: Fulham v Wisla Krakow - BACK Fulham @ 1.32 Liability of £0.42 to win £0.13 Just seen the team news for this game and Fulham have put out their strongest side yet in this competition. They will want revenge for the defeat in Poland. Think they've got more than enough quality to win here, and their record in Europe at Craven Cottage is mightily impressive.

  21. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? A couple for tonight, can't see there being many goals in both these games. Bet 99: Rubin Kazan v Tottenham - LAY Over 3.5 goals @ 3.75 Liability of £0.38 to win £0.13 Bet 100: Maccabi Tel Aviv v Stoke - LAY Over 3.5 goals @ 3.85 Liability of £0.40 to win £0.13

  22. Re: How Far Can a Tenner Stretch? Not my greatest night's picks but still end up in profit (two pence worth).
