  1. Quick question about Betfair Formula 1 Depend on how clear the race looks like. The liqudity is good as long as you want to lay/back the ones who look like in the race. Also, the M Schum. factor always counts, even in cases he has no chance to get there. The odds vary accordingly, ie. if it looks clear enough, you may ask for really outrageous odds on your outside fancy.

  2. 1-1 last night with the draw obliging so we are attacking the 30 pts level once again. Sadly, though, books look to take into account all trends they usually ignore and this leaves me with just one pick of value. I would really love to back Detroit tonight, but not @ such a skinny price. LAK (ML) to bt ANA @ 2.11 *Pinnacle* 1 PT The second leg of their B2B meeting and everything I wrote last night stands. I know one of the rules reads "back the home teams in the sec. leg of B2Bs", but we are talking about the mighty quacks here... That's it. T.

  3. A winner last night and we are up @ 23.83 pts YTD with the yield nearing 10 per cent again. A dreadful card today, to be honest. NYR @ NAS DRAW IN REGULATION @ 4.1 *BF* 1.5 pts Little to add, a minor draw chase, step 2. Buf +1/2 to bt OTT @ 2.23 *Pinnacle* 1 PT Well, Ottawa unbeaten in 19 homers and Buffalo a bit off the pace at the very moment and losing sight of the playoffs. On the other hand, they are still pretty much in the playoff battle and are 2-0-2 vs the Sens this season. Worth a shot, imo. All other fancies scratched due to low prices (which applies especially to LAK, Color and Van). Beware - Belfour is expected back for the Leafs (Toronto), but is listed as game-time decision, so don't put too much on them just after hearing this piece of news. That's it. T.

  4. Tul St Louis Blues JJ - although they can make the playoffs (they are just 2 points off pace just behind the PO Q line), there are some valid points against - they are facing a relatively tough schedule, bar Ana (twice) and Clb, they will play almost only fellow competitors in the tight PO race (Clg, Nas etc.) and arguably most of them are having a better season; - even if they qualify, they will most probably face mighty Wings (well, they can do them due to goaltending probs) or Avs (no chance); - regardless who they might meet, the Blues are CHOKERS - some seasons ago they qualified as the very best team in regular season only to bomb it 0-4 in the first round. They blamed everything on Turek then, but their usual efforts in recent seasons prove my point as they are simply not able to perform under pressure (which is the case of PO); - concl. so although they are too big (B365 are going 25/1 for them), it will be a tough task even to make the playoffs (I would defo side with the likes of Nas, Clg and even LAK - good goaltending as long as Cechmanek is fit, he is underrated but back in the Czech Republic it was him who single-handedly won the title for Vsetin several times - and he IS the playoff type), and no chance, imo, to proceed anywhere near the finals; unfortunately enough, there are probably more people who have spotted this as it's impossible to lay them off @ Betfair - no takers... All in all, a good spot, but I personally see it as a no-hoper. Sorry.;)

  5. 3-3 last night with a tiny profit (0.21 pts) brought us up to 21.73 pts YTD. Only one match of interest tonight (bettingwise) if you ask me. NYI (ML) to bt BUF @ 2.40 *Pinnacle* 1.5 PTS As inconsistent as they may be, the Islanders are still 4 points ahead of...BUFFALO in the playoff race. This alone makes this game a very important affair as it can decide a lot (it's early on, but...). NYI are arriving into the game with a 0-1-1 record (incl. a big, expected, loss to the Rangers last night. They are also in their 3/4 B2B trap, but to be honest, this trap is not working this season. The Sabres are in a poorish vein of form themselves and are coming inot the game off two straight losses. The team they actually would not like to meat is called... the Islanders. The reason rests in the H2H history. Last Sabres' win dates back to Oct. 10, 2002 and they have lost 6 straight since, including three losses this season (and 3-14 outscoring). NYI are also 2-0 @ Buf and 3-1-1 in L5 @ Buf. A slightly stronger pick. That's it. T.

  6. Re: 1 NHL strong pick for thursday (and some other picks) The bad run going on and as we are appraoching the level of 20 pts, I have to admit increasing the stake has worked against us and from now on just 1 pt is the basic stake. YTD 102-116-20, +21.52 pts, 8.65 per cent yield Six picks tonight, can't help it - like them all. Mtl +1/2 to bt BOS @ 2.10 *Pinn* 1 PT H2Hs 1-0-2-1 this season and both teams in reasonable form. Bos 8-1-3-2 recently (note the number of OTs), Mtl won 3 of L4. Still, what I wrote about Boston two days ago is still true - they've been fairly exposed of late and are in their 3/4 game yet again. Add this is their first homer of a road trip and the price on Mtl looks appealing enough. NYR +1/2 to bt NYI @ 2.12 *Pinnacle* 1 PT Recent for nothing to write home about for both teams. NYR 3-7, NYI 4-2-4 (and again the number of draws has forced me to take the +1/2 cap). These teams are meeting again in a short time and again the same applies what was written before the last one - NYR won ALL five encounters this season. They also have a new coach, which surely boosts the morale. Tor (ML) to bt TB @ 2.17 *Pinn* 1 PT A bit against the grain as TB are one of the hottest teams right now (6-1-1-2) while Tor are just 5-4-1 recently. Interestingly, TB are good @ home and Tor are no pushovers away. What I consider the most important info reads - the last time TB won against Tor dates back to March 15, 2001! Tor are 16-2-1 lifetime @ TB. NAS -1/2 to bt Min @ 1.99 *Pinn* 1 PT Min 4-3-1-2 and Nas 4-5-1 in L10. Nas is a strong home team while Minn are realatively poor away. Nas are also 4-1-2 @ home vs Minny. Nas are pushing for the playoffs while Minny are way off the pace. CLG (ML) to bt Det @ 2.31 *Pinn* 1 PT Despite losing the last match, Clg are 7-3 vs Detroit in L10 H2Hs. Detroit are nothing special away, Clg a little bit better at home and willing to get back to winning ways. SJS (ML) to bt VAN @ 2.28 *Pinnacle* 1 PT SJS 6-3-0-1 in L10, Van 3-5-0-2 in L10. Vancouver coming off a big win which never bodes well in the next game. SJS won 4 in a row vs Van and also 8 out of last 10. That's it. T.

  7. A loss last night as we were beaten by the ice rather than by anything else (vis major you would call it), but have to roll on. Just 23.52 pts of profit, but I am quite hopeful and don't understand the price on Edmonton at all. Edm (ML) to bt ANA @ 2.18 *Pinnacle* 2 PTS Both teams off a 1-1 tie (vs different teams, but Edm are 2-0-1 in L3 while Ana are 0-2-1 in L3. Ana just two pts behind Edmonton in the playoff chase, still two teams are seriously behind the q line (but will push for a win anyway. What decided in the main is the following - the Oilers have beaten the Quacks in all of 7 recent meeting (since the beginning of last season(!). That's it. T. Also wouldn't put you off a NJD + DAL moneyline double paying 2.25, but I just can't justify taking it myself (it looks good, but I VERY rarely take super-safe doubles like this.

  8. NBA Tuesday have you checked how teams perform in their first home match after a road trip, raven? No, I don't know and am not trying to be clever - just NHL teams generally underperform in such situations (back home, night with wife/girlfriend and stuff they say;) ) Good luck with your play anyway.:)

  9. One push and two losses last night and a horrendous card tonight. One pick only. NYI -1/2 to bt Bos @ 2.05 *B365, SuperOdds* 2 PTS First of all, if you want to play it safe, the ML option is the way, although too low for me. Now, although NYI haven't won this fixture in 5 attempts, they are still 3-3-4 and 1-0-3 @ home (and 0-2-3 L5 overall). These two teams like drawing when playing each other. BUT, Boston have had to travel between any of their last 9 games and are also playing their 3/4 B2B trap game. Not that this 3/4 trap works this season, but tired legs - they have to have. NYI are inconsistent in general, but difficult to beat at home and puhing for the playoffs. That's it. T.

  10. NHL 23/2 Mon 2 losses and one push last night which cost us 2 points and we are down to just over 25 pts (still over 10 per cent yield, though). Tuesday's card looks very dull and I doubt I'll decide to have a go, maybe just one bet as I've shortlisted two and will be waiting for team news.;)

  11. NHL 23/2 Mon Was looking into the match as well, Fin, and would even have given it a go. BUT - the Preds haven't beaten the Kings for a long time. In fact, they are 1-7-2 in L10 and 1-3 @ LA. Also, each time I've tried to solve Vokoun since the playoffs, I invariably failed. Best of luck anyway.:) And welcome to PL. Just two post but already great input.:)

  12. A loser last night and very little edge seen tonight. Therefore, although I stated the standard stake would be 2 pts, I am reducing it to just 1 pt for this particular night. Mtl @ NYR DRAW IN REGULATION @ 4.1 *BF* 1 PT Mtl @ NYR UNDER 5 @ 2.25 *Pinnacle* 1 PT The draw is my usual minor draw chase (looking very good tonight, in fact), the under is just an incredible price. Mtl have 4 unders and 3 overs in L7, NYR have 3 unders and 3 overs. L10 H2Hs went 8 times under and only twice over. Can't see why the price is so low, the only reason is because of the Rangers' name. Det @ EDM OVER 5.5 @ 2.02 *Pinnacle* 1 PT Det - 4 overs and 1 under in L5, Edmonton - 2 overs, 2 unders in L4. H2Hs 6 overs, 4 unders and 5 overs and just 1 under in L6. MWhat's more, the Wings are starting MArc Lamothe between the pipes tonight - a guy with mere two starts on this level (in 1999-2000 season). That's it. T.
