G.Liner takes fifth place at Sha Tin and sky bet paid each way five places
That’s it for me with Hong Kong until the season settles down. Had plenty of success there in the past but the inconsistency of results means this is the wrong time of year to dip in and out of the meetings.slap my wrists if I do one over there before the end of the month.
back to national hunt for the first time this autumn and in
    Cheltenham’s opener
    Tellherthename
    win
    can take this maiden hurdle.
To all intents and purposes this runner is essentially “unbeaten” having fought out a two horse rallying finish with the very well regarded Jango Baie of Nicky Henderson’s at Ascot. Both horses looked listed class that day and given it was a novice hurdle this represents a drop in class whatever the grade. With an Irish raider rated 119 after going handicapping I’d rate the selection 125 easily and save  for that schooling defeat was an impressive point to point winner and the 200k fee looked well worth it at Ascot.

Latin is not my strong point. 😁
I try to keep things fairly simple, too much information tends to muddy the waters, and make you question yourself. I don't look at races with too big a field, they are complicated and take up a lot of time. I also disregard certain race types, I'm not a fan of non professional jockey races .. Apprentice, Amateur, Gentleman, Lady etc. I know they have to learn to race ride, just not with my money on. I used to focus on non-handicaps, but handicaps tend to be much better prices ( I don't back odds on, except for football).
Everyone has their own way of picking winners, and I am always looking for a new approach, you need to be comfortable with the price of winners and losing runs that you find. I did used to have a non-handicap method that had a very high strike rate  but prices were odds on with a few exceptions and a few losers could set you back to the beginning. It just wasn't worth the effort. You really need to record as much detail as possible with your selections, it will then become a little clearer that certain 'types' or 'factors' are not helping at all. Good luck with your selections.

Looks to hold every chance here. Tamluck has rocketed down the ratings and runs here off a career low on drop in class and stands to make a bold bid….

    different tone
    win
on  a strict line through  Waterloo sunset (who was beaten easily at leafy by the selection ) and then won impressively at kempton, different tone could relish the trip and despite expectations of the other favourite could prove different class here.

A day of reflection but happiness all the same and in paying respects to a lost comrade I’ve had a day/afternoon at his ceremony. An old rugby and workmate and taken way too young.

    thanks @The Equaliser.
I’ve been waiting to get October out of the way. I set myself a target of forty winners for that month and it was so unnecessary and distracted from the task at hand, the physics and it’s place in racing. So, no targets this month other than to find more Alexander qualifiers and cover many less races in doing so. A hard race to call the Melbourne cup but due to its size and the class of race, the weights and the draw, there should be physics at work. One absence may well bring a most unlikely runner into contention…..

The lucky last there is a double bubble of traverse law and free energy.
Two horses come to the fore here. Christine Dunnett is often the fall guy in these low grade affairs and it is not until they reach a really low rating they pop up at Yarmouth or satellite track Newmarket at a huge price.
But as bottom weight straight after hallowe’en this could turn out to be a nightmare for the layers if the physics kicks in……

unlucky run into Magellan strait in the Cambridgeshire and up half a stone may not be enough to prevent this game runner duly landing compensation. Second time round always different and chance may have gone already but top rated and if coping with the rise may be enough of a challenge for the field. Was very unlucky last time and chances here if getting the rub of the  green stuff.

Moves in-house for Gigginstown and jockey booking looks an interesting one. Unable to complete in the Liverpool grand national but has the trip and the fight time of year for this winning pointer now suprise to see bold showing on debut for Gordon Elliott with none of the normal shenanigans from this yard as too fitness and such like as this one comes “ oven ready “ with instructions from connections on jockey booking and best running conditions. No excuses here.
