The Scientist got a reaction from yossa6133 in Heavyweight punch up? Or greatest race?
With Stradivarius looking "better than ever" and the entire field bursting with health The Goodwood Cup was always going to be awesome. Its normally fillies that develope "grudges" and take a chance to kick out at their enemy but Trueshan and Stradivarius obviously hate each other with a vengence. The Gosden horse had been goading Trueshan since they stepped on to the track and they had to be kept apart like title fight heavyweight boxers. Trueshan saw his chance with 3 furlongs to go and gave Stradivarius one thump back.
It problably cost both warriors the win. So well done Kyprios.
Tyson Fury and Wilder had a best of three title scrap series. Does any track dare match up Stradivarius and Trueshan for a rematch....Saudi Arabia?

Our tipping competition at Goodwood today, promisrs us good cheap fun. I am really excited. I will probably be last.
I obviously had not yet twigged. To win it you need a couple of 'biggies'. Favorites are not going to do it..I can see my rivals have "cottoned on" before I did. When a professional I would head north away from a southern big meeting to earn my money. Beverley was a regular 'big earner' for me.
Its a big "switcheroo" track if the going gets soft. Sprints low numbers on good and firm days but high on soft and heavy. Also the photo finish equipment is crooked which gives nearest the far rail a short head advantage in a close finish as seen by jockeys and spectators.
Little things make all the difference. My only bet so far is 16.20 Murbih ew 9-1. (Drawn2)
But I will be deserting ship if it pours down and Kindred Fire ew (drawn 11)
But back to the fun at Glorious Goodwood.

14.25 There was something peculiar about Holloway Boy's win at Ascot. The race seemed to fall into its lap. The second has flopped since. I much prefer MYSTERIOUS NIGHT. At 4-1ew. its a penalty kick to nothing.
16.10. The brilliant rider Ray Dawson never travels far away from Newmarket unless he is on a bonus.
Why should he? So what is wrong with 16.10 Embour 12-1 (breathing) or 16.45 Corporate Raider 80-1? (Visor).
Who knows why Dawson has been hired to leave his lucrative work riding specialist Newmarket job except his master horsemanship is required at the track on a dodgy sort.

This sounds good fun. I am not very good at 'tipping' but am an "eye" anr later the better ex profesional. I sometimes bet 6 months before a race at 100-1 to 1000-1 but usually 6 minutes or better still 6 seconds before the 'off'. But Ill give it a go...

Having just watched my Baileys Showtime repeat his John Cleese "Ministry of Funny Walks" galloping at Newmarket 1.27 and deservedly stone last I imagine connections will be searching for a handicap mark about 40 then trying various headgear. The horse is slowing himself down and 'running with his brakes' on every stride. Id hate to feel the temperature on his front leg joints. Compare to the "Seb Coe" like effortlessly beautiful racing action of Lezoo winning at Ascot. Yet in a parade ring you would not be over impressed by Lezoo but head over heels with 'Showtime'. Funny game...horseracing. Got to love 'em.

Grear stuff from our leading correspodents. Ill look at the TV races later. In my eye / computer head system there is just one horse today, in the Newmarket 1.35.
The magnificent looking Bailey's Showtime....50-1. It ran a dreadful tace st Windsor. Legs everywhere at the wrong time in the wrong place. Did I catch a glimpse of the colt getting it right in the last 100 yards,? An awesome set of high profile yards against the 'clown horse' but go on at 50-1 ew not much down side.

This 7 runner race looks a comedy of bad acting jockeys. All forgetting 'the script'. And the plot did not work out.
Country meetings where trainers and jockeys 'hob nob' and 'train their horses locally'...Newmarket ? Are always risking a "full dress rehersal" on the gallops. Better still if the track is their gallops. Should get it spot on. It was the ridiculous way the horses in this race were ridden in the FIRST furlong which suggested the jockeys and the horses were struggling to remember their lines.

I see no point in tracking winners. Racing newspapers remind you soon enough as does the betting. I added a 150-1 shot Conquering who finished last on the strength of his looks and added 40-1 shot JustJamie today.
But in the 5.55 I have another 40-1 shot EAST STREET REVUE. He has been on my tracker for a while in no kind of form to bet him.The handicapper  has tried his best to carry the horse over the winning line with terrible results. The horse has had 4 dreadful runs. He is now down to a mark of 60 and could win this race galloping backwards on his winning form. Are the Easterby yard fiddling or as bemused as us punters? At 40-1 there still seems no enthusiasm in East Street Revue. I am betting MOSTALLIM but can not resist an ew bet at 40-1 on the best handicapped horse in the race. It can not be long now!
