  1. Fancy The Very Man in Irish Cesarewich tomorrow e.w. at 16-1 , first 6 with Bet365 .Just got beat by Teed Up at Galway earlier in the season , Teed up 2nd fav but The Very Man 7lb better off and S Foley on board this time .
  2. Was going to back Orchid Bloom , one of William Haggis horses he has sent over to Saint Cloud today , but morning odds appalling . Maxine Guyon rides so thats a positive , will hang fire and see what price it opens up in the shop...........but i wont hold my breath on the price .
  3. Only bet in the betting shops so don`t see the fields until i get in.........backed Sorsie and Piece Warrior in the first 2 races , and unlike in England both horses were brilliantly ridden , right place , kept it simple both won without any sweat......Good spot picking Piece Warrior because when our German friends send one ,like we often do they generally do the business.........As Luke Morris and Sir Mark Prescott did on Sunday in Germany .
  4. Treble A C Milan , Feyenoord , Bayern Munich .
  5. The draw being the reason i had an Horrendous Royal ascot this year . Usually it`s apparent which side is best from an early stage but this year they were winning from all over . A lot of races on the straight track had the winner one side and the 2nd the other so found it hard to narrow the fields down .
  6. Rosallion .......another talking horse put back in it`s box .Sean Levey yesterday saying it was the best 2 year old he`s sat on . Massive drifter all morning , everyone new . Adele Mulrennan said pre-race She didn`t like the way it moved on the soft ground and therefore didn`t fancy it . Pity the stable couldn`t see this after all they only see it every day .
  7. Big Warning today , seems like Baldings older horses have had enough , Favourites Coltrane and The Goat both beaten hands down with no excuses on ground and distance , will steer clear of his horses from now on .Not the first of His fancied older horses to run like drains this week .
  8. All Donny 1315 Stifling 9-2 John Gosden usually targets Sept onwards with his 2 year olds , this one is well bred so i`ll give it a go 1350 War Rooms 11-4 When Owen Burrows sends his once raced maidens up into Graded company He usually means business.......Days nap , wouldn`t be surprised if it started 7-4 . 1425 Inquisitively 9-2 ,can give Big Els something to think about , behind it at Royal Ascot but was very impressive last time out . 1500 Coltrane 6-4 Only Trueshan to beat and no one knows if the op on said Horse will make the difference . 1535 Bague D`Or 9-2 Great run over shorter last time out after a long time off the track . 1610 Cherry 9-4 Again looked impressive last time out , but a tight little race . 1645 Baradar 2-1 poor odds but loves soft ground , unlucky in the Lincoln , Beat Hickory last time out who ran a blinder last week . All fairly short , but War Rooms the banker .
  9. Maybe a bit early in the week to be talking about the Leger , but do think Desert Hero has it all going for it . Versatile ground wise , won well at Ascot , got no run at all at Goodwood until late on , but won the race in a couple of strides when out in the clear .Horse with a turn of foot often wins this race as when Eldar Eldarov triumphed last year .
  10. Dermot Weld himself got it wrong in 2020 when Tarnawa won one of the Arc trials , didn`t supplement it but won the 10f race instead on Arc day . Horse subsequently won at the Breeders Cup same year . It would surely have won the Arc that year , but He decided to wait a year to win it , when unfortunately finished 2nd to Torquator Tasso .
  11. Agree fully with assessment of Fantastic Moon , but trainer stating openly will only run if ground is good , will not run if soft or worse . On the Aiden O`Brien point again fully agree .Having this huge pool of horses surely is detrimental to the sport , it should all be about competition not the nearly monopoly that exists in Ireland at present . Similar scenario with the NH domination of Mullins .
  12. Not surprised yet again on saturday...........Betfreds 2 pushes at 1000hrs......Light Infantry out to 9-4 and Shaquille out to 7-4........how does he always know they are not off ?
  13. The perils of betting in the bread and butter races on a Saturday have never been better shown than in the first 2 races on TV today .Morning gamble on Lord Bertie , left in the stalls , jockey made no attempt to roust the horse up to try and regain a position , never looked interested at any point . Tough Enough , shoe removed at the start , again never looked happy at any point , tailed off . Horse obviously was not fit to run after twisting a shoe going down to the start .
  14. Anyone know why or how we are getting ripped off by the bookies on international racing ? Was in my local corals today and a mate backed a horse that won returned at 7-2 with corals , the REAL odds were 9-2 on the official Baden Baden site .......The 1315 race had a Charlie Johnston horse in which won at 11-8 with corals , again official odds were 2-1......it looks as if they are just shortening up horses because they know they can get away with it .
  15. Ebor Handicap.........Real Dream , despite the draw from hell can`t resist a bet , all these Lope De Vega horses have iron constitutions in any types of ground .
  16. 150 York Balance Play 225 York Coltrane/Courage Mon Ami REV FORECAST 300 York Kylian.........looked to be climbing all over Big Evs at Goodwood but trapped on the rail with no daylight......NAP .
  17. Typical York race.........Ballymount Boy always travelling like the winner , but gave Indian Run first run and couldn`t reel it in . Once you get rolling at York it is very difficult to be passed when you have pinched a couple of lengths . Brilliant ride by Spencer on Equilateral , immediately switched from stall 12 to race with the low drawn horses .
  18. There was an interesting piece in the racing post today on the Juddmonte where it was pointed out that surely Paddington can`t take another hard race , a view can be taken that Nashwa is now better at a mile therefore might try Mostahdaf to beat The Foxes with another bet Paddington to beat The Foxes in 2 SF`s................fully agree though with Mr Westwood about the draw and also that York now vastly favours front runners ever since the track was relayed .
  19. Thank you Maxime for reading this post !
  20. Deauville 1600......Sober 11-4 generally . The Good Man will probably start fav he shows a good turn of foot , but tomorrows race is over 1m 6f 1100yds on heavy ground and Sober takes forever to get into gear . Just hope M.Guyon makes his move earlier and drags the finish out of the others and doesn`t give first run to something else and finishes too late again .
  21. Juniper Berry 1545 Newbury Ran 2 good races at Ascot and Goodwood , looks reliable ,Owen Burrows looks to have the fav , once raced impressive winner , but he had a similar type turned over at 1-2 today .
  22. .Just another point i have witnessed lately .For the 2nd Sunday running i have watched horses trying to be led up to the tapes in NH races .The horses in question were a long way from the tapes and in both cases sideways on and being mulish with no chance of ever taking part in the race .Yet the starter lifted the tapes , the horses were deemed runners and people on the course will lose their money .Some bookies might return stakes , some might not but people attending will have lost out .........I know this might sound a non starter but to make it fair to everyone why not say on the flat a horse must have covered a furlong before being declared a runner and over the sticks they should have reached the first obstacle (however a refusal at the first still counts as a runner .
  23. Have a look at the 320 at ascot again . Joao Moreira rode Fox Tal to the front , went clear , looked nice and compact , in rhythm with the horse.......Thore Hammer Hansen on Perotto went after it and won . Far stronger in the finish , it`s as if Joao Moreira either dropped his whip , didn`t know where the winning post is , or simply didn`t see him coming .
  24. Sir Mark Prescott will often run his 2 year olds 3 times over 5 furlong trips .They are usually bred for 10f plus so consequently hardly ever get placed .Gets them a handicap mark for when they run up a sequence in 3 year old handicaps . Plenty of 7f races for 2 year olds which would be more suitable for these horses but thinks long term . Smart planning ? Cheating the system? which is it ?
  25. Watched the race thought Zak Wheatley on King Of Tonga was as weak as water in the finish , in the right place for the entire race and then didn`t seem to want to win the race .
