She won on her reappearance at Newmarket over the distance when tackling this trip for the first time. Won by over 3 lengths off a mark of 69 that day and then followed up with a close 2nd place over the same course and distance LTO off a mark of 75. Only went down a neck to a horse that has went on to win again since so that piece of form is working out well. Raised 4lbs for that effort but should definately have a chance in this race as she is still improving having only had 7 runs to date. My selection has only been seen twice this season. Firstly in the French 2000 Guineas, perfectly entitled to need the run and finished a decent 8th, ten lengths off the winner. Went out on soft ground next time out and didn't run well, but that was the first time he'd encountered soft ground, so I'm not too put off by that. Shaped with a lot of promise last season when running consistently well in decent contests. One thing to note about Godolphin is that their second strings do sometimes spring surprises at good prices. Last year's St Ledger is still fresh in my mind after backing Kite Wood! All in all, Poet's Voice is still open to improvement, and could well come on a lot for his last two efforts. The price is well worth the risk. Consistent type and gets into this off an attractive looking mark of 78. The trip and ground's fine, and although she appears to lack that little bit of quality, she should still be more than capable of being involved in the finish of this race.
