horses changing trainers

Recommended Posts

how much credance would you put on horses changing trainers is there a trainer who is good at bringing on horses that others have no success with or if a horse moves from one yard would you then think horse no good such as a horse moving from d nicholls yard would you think his chances over 5-7f would be slim a lot of papers show movement of horses and wondered at the relevance or not

Re: horses changing trainers There's no simple answer to this, but yes, you should certainly take it into account. :ok Some trainers are particularly good with certain types of horses eg. sprinters or stayers, or some seem particularly good with fillies. There's also the factor of how they are trained, for instance a horse may not like to be shut up in a stable and there are some trainers who are patient/willing enough to train them 'out of the field' or have them living with a companion pony etc. Horses will also often move from the bigger yards because they have failed at the expected level and they have so many horses they are not willing to give them time. They will often be successful finding their level with a smaller yard. I think you would need to dig further to find out how/why a horse has moved. Might be the owner has moved trainer, or the horse might have been sold so new owner/new trainer. If it's been bought out of a selling or claiming race presumably the new trainer expects to find some success with it. I don't know if there are any other threads on here on this topic but I think it could be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.
