Royal Ascot Day 1 - Tues 15th June

Recommended Posts

This is going to be a real cracking race and am a jumps man, however i have backed this horse from day 1 and am sticking with him again in the 3-50 the St James's palace stakes. We seen the true animal over in Ireland and if he can settle again out the stalls we could see something a touch special at Royal Ascot. Richard Hannon Snr & Jnr have both said its the best horse they have ever had and Richard Hughes has said its the best hes ever sat on, if he comes out the stalls and can sit at the back and settle Richard Hughes will push the button marked TURBO at the 2F marker and the rest will simply not catch him, Game Over. CANFORD CLIFFS to win the 3-50 at R/A Any Danger will come from DICK TURPIN a must e/w bet at around 9/1. Rev f/c Canford Cliffs & Dick Turpin, Hannon 1 & 2 Richard Hughes & Ryan Moore could have one HELL of a day ! Best of luck in your Day.

Re: Royal Ascot Day 1 - Tues 15th June 3.05 Ascot The Australians have a superb record in this contest and their Nicconi heads the market at 3/1 tomorrow. I respect his chances but his recent runs have been less than inspiring, and the fitting of a first time visor brings his temperament into disrepute. Gold Trail is unlikely to enjoy the run of the race and so I am looking at the home boys for my selection. Borderlescott is my favourite horse in training but I think this may be one year too far for him in Group 1 sprint company and having been held, along with Equiano, in the Temple Stakes last time out, the winner of the race that day at Haydock is my pick - KINGSGATE NATIVE. A Group 1 winner on only his third start when landing the 2007 Nunthorpe he was briefly packed off to stud where his career never took off after firing blanks. He returned to the track last season and scooped the Audi Stakes at Goodwood, and the manner of his latest Group suggests he is somewhere near his best again. He acts at the track as evidenced by his win in the Golden Jubilee Stakes in 2008 and with his yard having a 35 % strike rate in Group races this season, Ryan Moore's mount is the pick in the hope he can dominate the sprint scene this season. 7/2 Bet 365, 1 pt win 4.25 Ascot The Coventry Stakes has produced the likes of Henrythenavigator and Canford Cliffs in recent seasons and the winner has typically romped his last race in fine style, recording favourable form comments and winning by a large margin. For example, Canford Cliffs' 7 length demolition job was a victory secured "very easily" according to the formbook, Henrythenavigator won by 7 lengths in "impressive" fashion and of this years contingent, SHEER COURAGE makes most appeal at 20/1. He hacked up by 10 lengths on his last start for Richard Hannon and although he has since joined Herman Brown I still think he warrants plenty of respect. He looked in a different league to his rivals when winning that day at Leicester, despite racing a little keenly through the first few furlongs, and he could feasibly sneak a place at a price. 20/1 Stan James, EW 5.00 Ascot There are a couple of Irish raiders that may have been let in lightly by the British handicapper and a few more hurdlers that return to the flat that are possibly well treated, with Junior heading the bunch. However, this extra yardage will suit DAYIA and this likeable mare is taken to continue her improvement now granted a greater stamina test. She hinted at class when finishing a staying on fourth in the Cesarewitch last season and even though she was dropped back in trip at Haydock when last seen she cruised into contention to get on top late on and secure a victory over two miles. A 5 lb rise may not prove beyond her and she is the bet in this superb handicap. 14/1 Bet 365, EW
