Not much to say other than I will be concentrating on trying to get some value e/w or 20/80 bets from 8/9/16 runner races, and hopefully turning a profit over the season. Bet 1 2.10 Newcastle - Fasliyanne 0.4pts win @ 9/2bog (VCBet) & 1.6pts place (1234) @ 1.76 (Betfair) 4yr old filly whose style of racing is suited to Newcastle, being a prominent runner. She runs off a mark of 55 today, 3lb higher than a lto 2nd at Catterick, but still a mark from which she can perform well. She ran a close 2nd to Noodles Blue Boy last summer under these conditions at this venue in a Class 5 off 8lbs higher. Wasn't seen to best effect on the all weather tracks over the Winter and that resulted in he mark falling, but her best performances have been on turf and she can show that today. Bet 2 4.10 Newcastle - Captain Dunne 0.4pts win @ 7/1bog (VCBet) & 1.6pts place (123) @ 2.78 (Betfair) A real speedball who can go on any surface on his day. Captain Dunne really likes to blaze a trail, and is nicely drawn near to the rail in 10 of 11. On what will be his inside is Strike Up The Band, another who smashes out and gets on with it - so we may need Davy Allen to be a little cute and maybe just track SUTB through the first half of the race, as getting involved in a pace battle up front would suit those who will be coming from off the pace. Captain Dunne has ran twice before at Gosforth Park with disappointing results (9/9 & 14/16) - but on both occasions he was poorly drawn towards the far side and had little chance even if on song. Everything looks to be in place for a prominent showing today however. Edit: reasoning added 12:15 :ok
