Dave Nevison - disillusioned value punter?

Recommended Posts

I know the value debate has been a widely discussed topic before but last night I finished reading Nevison's second book, A Gambler's Diary, and wasn't expecting that ending at all. Throughout his first book and for the majority of this one he seemed adamant that drawing up tissues was the way to go, saying his livelihood depended on those tissues and that they were the way to win long term. But at the end of the second book, when discussing what went wrong for him he talked a lot about market setiment and that he should continue to back horses backed in through his tissue prices, thus undermining the whole approach! He also said he needs to resist temptation to back drifters, even though they appear value according to his tissues. He comes across as being disillusioned with his tissue approach and seems more concerned with his bloodstock work with john best, fair play to him and like he says, he's already got the t-shirt for betting pro. It just seemed a bit of a let down hearing him end the book this way, basically saying the markets are spot on most of the time these days and its harder to win than in the past.

[/quote'] Sorry to be an ignorant mate but I dont quite follow what this means, could you explain? There are a few experts in the football field that opine that the bookies have their prices sewn up in the major markets. You have to look to the more obscure markets.
