Your thread happened to be the most recent amongst the Systems & Strategy area and after reading all 16 pages have found myself hooked and signed myself up with the forum. Can't believe I was missing out on all this before! I've used Betfair on and off for about a month now, punting on games of interest, getting used to backing/laying, etc. I'd now like to get into systematically betting on matches based on certain criteria. Question for you: I see how you can back-test strategies using 365Stats, but what site/service do you use to pick out fixtures that fit your criteria once you find a system that seems to be profitable on paper? It would be easy to just manually look through say, the day's EPL matches, but is there a site that can search across a number of different countries/leagues? For example on your massive outlay last week you used English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Japanese, U20 Internationals..and a bunch of teams I've never even heard of. When i look for systems they are back tested first over the epl, if you are trying to find a 1x2 system based on starting match odds than 365stats is the site to use. It has a results menu on the left and from there you can see how profitable level stakes would have been in the past under the criteria you set. Beware tho last i looked the italian and french leagues had the odds round the wrong way so messes up the back testing. Now football-data.co.uk allows you to download previous seasons on to excel together with all the stats you can think of together with starting odds. Here you look for trends and patterns and this forum is an ideal base to test them. Once i think i might be on to something in the epl, ill test other leagues, once im happy that this approach works there as well, ill make a judgement call on backing any league in the world, or cup. If i system on trial that fits this like my ht/ft one than basically ill use todays coupon on bet fair to pick my matches. The home odds will be 1.3 -1.7 and i will take the top 6 fave scores which 9 times out of 10 will probably call up the 0-0, 1-0, 1-1, 2-0, 2-1 and unquoted score lines but occasionally will put in a 3-0 or 3-1 i think. This system needs to maintain a 70% success rate which is very capable of. Backing the 6 scoreline gives you taking odds of around 1.5 when the value is around 1.428 at 70%. i was getting more 75% in previous trials (1.33) so i think long term this could work). Now im going to trial this again with minimum stakes for 100 games and use any game the coupon on BF calls up. They were over the unquoted scores but you could have layed 6 goals or more at Ibrox and 7 in Hungary. The first would have been a winner. I would tend to agree with you about the HT/FT system. To be honest, trying to get any value out of HT/FT is a bit of a lottery, and at lay odds in the region of 5.0, it's too risky for me.
