Orange_Soap21 Posted August 1, 2009 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Re: Romanian Liga 1 Realitatea 31/7 - 2/8 Unirea Alba-Iulia - FC Brasov Newly promoted Unirea Alba-Iulia will be facing previous season Liga 1 pleasant suprise FC Brasov. Brasov was a Europa Legue candidate last season even if it promoted from the second division but unfortunately only finishing 9th place, 2 point away from Steaua Buc. Since then R.Lucescu left to coach the Romania national team and was replaced for a short period with Nicolo Napoli. Current appointed manager Viorel Moldovan fought in 08/09 campaing for a spot in Europa Legue with FC Vaslui but was later sacked do to bad results. Under R. Lucescu Brasov was known as a well organized team concede very few goals and very hard to beat. Their victories against title candidates Dinamo Buc. and FC Timisioara last season proved that Brasov is not your average team. Viorel Moldovan was a forwarder when he played and his teams seem to reflect that. Acquisition like Alexandru Piturca, Nuno Diogo and Nene will only strengthen the team. unfortunately they and key player Maldarasanu wont play against Unirea do to bad fitness and injuries. Unirea Alba-Iulia will be fighting to avoid relegation this season. With only one important player name goolkeeper Cernea from FC Steaua Unirea will have a hard time achiving it goal. I think that for the home team a draw is a good result for the starting season.
