Re: Finland, Weekend, 24-27th of July. Honka played on Thursday in Wales against Bangor also, so I wouldn't stick my life savings on them this weekend. Odds are dropping on Honka straight win and I can't work out why. VPS are unbeaten away in their last 6 games. Their only losses home and away in the last 10 games came against Helsinki and Tampere, who are two of the better sides in this division. Without seeing the team news, I'd say the value is more on VPS. VPS + 0.5, +1 @ 1.97 would be my pick.

Re: Finland, Weekend, 24-27th of July. Play RoPS guys, play RoPS. You are not going to get disappointed.. It's a home win for sure.

Puntteri´s pick of the week: RoPS In the first of a new semi-regular feature, Puntteri picks out a promising bet from the weekend programme. Jekyll and Hyde team RoPS host FC Lahti this weekend Latest 6 games from the right: RoPS: 0-0-3-0-3-3 —- Lahti: 0-0-3-1-1-1 Head to Head: 3-8-9 This season: 29.04.2009 Lahti – RoPS 4-1 The head to head stats do not support my idea of picking RoPS to be the pick of the weekend. Neither does their last result, as they lost 4-0 at MYPA. They also lost the first round game against Lahti, 4-1 away. Yet, I am pretty confident, and here is why. RoPS do have the same problem year after year. They are always late when building the team and the early pre-season games are usually plain horrible as a lot of new players – most of them from Africa – are trying to get to used to the coldness and darkness that only Finnish Lapland can offer. The methods are different. Their fellow players are new. The pitch is either artificial or in appalling condition. The other teams seem to run over you, having started the pre-season 2-3 months earlier. The match-fitness is low and the run of losses does not really build up the self-confidence. Then comes summer. There are already some games under your belt, some wins perhaps and the team has been built. It is complete. It has been born. The individual skill of the players is starting to show, the team is a unit. Even the local community is behind you again, supporting you. The northerners are used to their Africans by now. Things are picking up. The trip to Rovaniemi is a long one. Some teams fly. Some do not. The home crowds are not big, but fierce. The team performs better at their home ground, which this season has been a temporary one at Susivouti and is in even worse condition than their usual ground. An unforgettable experience for the poor away team. RoPS’s 6 home games so far have produced 2 losses, 1 draw and 3 wins, and there are a lot of speculations to be done about the losses if you so wish. Against Inter RoPS missed not one but two penalty kicks. Against Honka RoPS was in the lead until the 89th minute. The draw against Mariehamn is another excellent result. RoPS vs. FF Jaro 5:3 RoPS vs. JJK 2:1 RoPS vs. FC Honka 1:2 RoPS vs. HJK 1:0 RoPS vs. IFK Mariehamn 0:0 RoPS vs. FC Inter 0:2 I see RoPS as one of the absolute best home teams in the Veikkausliiga. The away team FC Lahti is another matter. They have travelled so far for seven away games and they won, well, they have not yet won a single game. The stats show 0 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses from their travels. What is important here is that Lahti is still in the Europe League after winning Slovenian Gorica by 2-1 aggregate. It is a historical success for FC Lahti and their happy and proud players, apart for the legendary Jari Litmanen. Next week they travel to Belgium to meet Club Brugge. Guess where the concentration is? Are they happy to take the Lapland trip now? Risk themselves getting injured and missing the highlight of the season? The focus is on next Thursday. RoPS is just an obstacle, a distraction. RoPS are not going to lose. If you want to take it safe, RoPS with a 0 handicap gives you 2.19 at Sbobet. It means that if the match is drawn the stake is returned. European bookies offer around 3 for a straight RoPS which is also a value bet. My limit for RoPS dnb (draw-no-bet) is way under 2.00, and I can not see that this price lasting long. http://www.nordicfootball.info/finland/puntteri%C2%B4s-pick-of-the-week-rops/

Re: Finland, Weekend, 24-27th of July. Thanks m123 for the link. So my view on RoPS is clear now. It is an interesting round really, lots of questionmarks because of the ongoing European games. No one can guarantee what their impact is but I can guess; Jaro - Inter Turku. Getting kicked out of the competition was a disappointment to Turku, but a fair reflection of their scoring abilities lately. There is not one striker who could shoot the ball into the net now. Turku has played well if we forget the let-down game at JJK, but of course, if you do not score, you do not win and there really is no reason to believe that this situation would be improving now. If the odds on AW drop it probably is only because the Jaro was priced too high to start with, and this is just the normal adjustment of the odds at the moment. Jaro is not really struggling, but finding their act again and is a favourite in this encounter, which looks very underish to me. Edit: Mf Matrone is also missing for a couple of weeks, and the Jaro bench is once more very narrow, and the defense will be weakened by the absence of Matrone. Honka - VPS Honka is at best when they have a lot of games and when they are under pressure. For tomorrow´s game they have still some 20 players to choose from because the had the biggest roster of quality players to start with the season, remembering well the crisis they had last season when there were 2-3 games a week and they were riddled with injuries. Honka rotates a lot of players so there are no tired feet. The European League game on Thursday is very important to Honka, but they are quite used to European games by now and can concentrate on this game fully. The line-up on Sunday against VPS will be completely different from the line-up on next Thursday against Qarabaq, the coach will probably field only 3 same backbone players, but it does not mean that it will be any easier for VPS. The good run of VPS consists mostly of wins against the lesser teams, but after sacking their manager early in the season their performances have also improved and they do have a chance. Can ´t really blame anyone who picks Honka, at the moment they are at their best. HJK-Haka Losing to Vetra at home in the European League was a massive setback and disappointment for HJK, and this game is all about their mental strength, if there is any left. At HJK they were already counting their money and planning advertisements for the Fulham-game, but this time Fulham will travel to Lithuania. Haka is not a good team and will find themselves in the midtable when the season is over, but if they still are weeping and feeling miserable at HJK camp they are also vulnerable, and for me this has turned from a tasty HW bet to a definitely no bet.

Re: Finland, Weekend, 24-27th of July. Jaro - Inter Inter ML 1,87 7/10 @Sports1 Rops - Lahti Rops +0,25 1,84 7/10 @Betinternet TamU - Mypa +0,5 Mypa 1,97 7/10 @Pinnacle TamU - Mypa under 2,25 1,95 7/10 @Pinnacle Jaro is missing their first choice goalkeeper and couple other important players. Inter is still clearly better team and I think they eventually start winning again if they just keep creating far more goal scoring chances than their opponents. Value above 1,70 Rops is having two faces. The one in home games and the other on away games. So far they've been good at home and crap in away games. Lahti is rotating players because of their euro-league games and they propably aren't going to this game with their best players, that meaning especially Litmanen. Value with odds above 1,70 TamU's having great adversity in creating goal scoring chances. Their attacking play stops on the attacking third of the field because players like Rafinha and Niemi just take the ball try to create chances through one-on-one-situations. They look very slow and static on the attack, but on the defense they look very strong. Mypa's waking up after their mid-summer slump and should be able to get at least a point here partly because TamU's inept attacking play. They demolished Rops 4-0 last time out. Value above 1,75 on +0,5 and value above 1,80 for under 2,25.
