Had an idea......

Last winter I gave up the Jumps round about December and concentrated on the AW until Donny...... It was good because there was only 1 or at most 2 meetings a day and you felt you had all the form in your head.........you look down the card and most of the horses meant something, you knew of them and had some idea of where they fitted in the scheme of things. At the moment I'm all at sea with so much racing my head is exploding trying to keep up with it. I've tried specialising - group races, sprint handicaps etc - but whatever you pick there's a lot of it and it's not self-contained - new horses keep appearing all the time I guess this depends on your personality but I like to find a subset of the horse population that's small enough to keeps tabs on and 'get to know' Probably anal, but that's by the by................:lol Anyway - my big idea !! Too late for this year but next summer - Iollow the Irish flat racing ! I can think of many advantages......... Five or six meetings a week - enough to get stuck in to but retain some idea of overall form in your head. Usually have a couple of days a week with no racing to give time to study form etc.......... Few enough meetings that you could do your own speed and form ratings for every race.- and keep notes on every horse of interest All races live on ATR and video library free to use on the website. Full coverage of all races on the Post site, and an excellent 'Irish Racing' dedicated website. First chance to pick out those top class horses who will be raiding the English classics next year. Full range of races - maidens, handicaps, group races, but just not too many of them ! Anyone think this is a good idea ? Or is the whole concept of trying to find a smaller group of horses to follow a bit silly ?

Re: Had an idea...... Just thought of a related advantage with the number of meetings........ If, like me, you're still on 'video technology' and can get 8 hours on one videotape, you could record all the Meeting Reviews on ATR and keep about a months racing on one videotape and just watch it over and over again...........save messing about with individual races on the website........ I might try that with the AW during the winter............
