One for the older punters, regarding SP's

Recommended Posts

Touching on this....

  • Short SP's, its now imperative to take a price nowadays on every race, the returned SP's are a joke.

... does anyone have any reason as to why SP's are so short nowadays as compared with what they would have been in previous years? For instance, a horse at let's say Straford on a wednesday afternoon going off 4/5 favourite, when 10 years ago, the same horse in the same race would have gone off 4/1 or perhaps longer. How much are the betting exchanges responsible for these crap prices? Is there any difference to the level of "inside knowledge" available these days, causing some horses to be backed off the board in comparison with years ago? Do Punters see a gamble, and are more likely to contribute to the landsliding odds than they would have been years ago?
