Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Atletico-MG v Gremio over 2.5 goals @1.8 (sportingbet) - 3/10 Both of clubs started Seria A with draws (Gremio drew at home v Santos 1:1, Rever was goalscorer in 76´ for hosts, and Atletico-MG drew away v Avai 2:2, they were 2:0 down at 60´ of the game but somehow they manage to score two goals at 69´(Alessandro), 77´(Carlos Alberto) and avoid defeat in this first Serie A game for them). It could be boost for home side and certanly morale in the team is very up at this stage of competition. Atletico-MG played very good in Mineiro I competition (11 games played: 8 victories, 2 draws and only 1 defeat),very impressive results with 24:8 GD ! They played Mineiro I finals v Cruseiro (3 matches: 2 defeats and 1 draw). On the other hand we have Gremio who played in Gaucho 1 Division (4th placed with 3-2-2, 14:10 GD). All teams from that division are almost same quality and all that I know is that Gremio aren´t good side, they are only a mediocre team. Gremio has much better head to head stats v Atletico-MG, and for past several years they beat them 3 times out of 4 games with GD 9:2! My first option is over 2.5 goals. Head to head:

07-12-08 Serie A Grêmio 2 - 0 Atlético Mineiro
09-08-08 Serie A Atlético Mineiro 0 - 4 Grêmio
04-10-07 Serie A Grêmio 2 - 2 Atlético Mineiro
07-07-07 Serie A Atlético Mineiro 0 - 1 Grêmio

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Couple teams that played mid-week will more than likely rest some players. Corinthians and Cruzeiro will definitely be sitting out some 1st team players. For this week Vitoria and Internacional are plays to consider. Even though Inter played mid-week, they MUST win knowing that Gremio won mid-week. Remember, when Gremio wins, Inter Must win, and vice versa.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Coritiba ML @1.75 (expect) - 6/10 Coritiba played very nice at home last season in Serie A (overal record: 10-6-3, 34:18 GD), good stats in my opinion. Last week they played away v strong Palmeiras and lost 2:1, although they had lead till 70´ of the game, scored via Marselinho at 32´. Santo Andre drew in front of their own fans 1:1 v Botafogo, Nunes for S.A and Victor Sinoes for guests (In tomorrows game Santo Andre will miss Cicinho(15 AP and 2 goals in Paulista A1), very important 22 year old defender who was sent off at 79´). I think that Coritiba has potential to win this match and get that three points, it will not be easy cause Santo Andre are newly promoted side from Serie B (Serie B home record: 13-4-2, 37:18 GD, away record: 6-7-6, 34:27 GD). As you can see this is very nice stats but all in all it was Serie B we talk about, we will see them in this competition - do they have much power to stay clear of relegation? My answer is YES but it will be very hard task for them. Head to head:

20-10-07 Serie B Coritiba 2 - 1 Santo André
14-07-07 Serie B Santo André 0 - 0 Coritiba
29-09-06 Serie B Coritiba 0 - 0 Santo André
27-05-06 Serie B Santo André 2 - 1 Coritiba

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May )

Coritiba ML @1.75 (expect) - 6/10
Mate I hate to jinx somebody else pick, because I respect time and will to write pick, but Coritiba has main priority, and that is Copa Brasil, and they play on wednesday game in Copa, so coach René Simões will rest AT LEAST 6 of starting 11 players... Sa @1.74 is way low for this game.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Coritiba - Santo Andre Those two teams had not started well in first round. Coritiba lost to Palmeiras, and Santo Andre drew at home. Coritiba has main focus on Copa de Brasil and coach René Simões will rest many of first team players. Rodrigo Mancha, Leandro Donizetti and forward Marcelinho Paraíba are 100% out for this game. Santo Andre have no suspended or injured players and they will try to make a suprise here. Probable squads: Coritiba Vanderlei; Márcio Gabriel, Leandro Silva, Felipe e Vicente; Lucas, Pedro Ken, Renatinho e Carlinhos Paraíba; Marcos Aurélio e Ariel. Técnico: René Simões. Santo André Neneca; Júnior Caiçara, Marcel, Cesinha e Gustavo Nery; Fernando, Ricardo Conceição, Marcelinho Carioca e Antônio Flávio; Pablo Escobar e Nunes. Técnico: Sérgio Guedes. Santo Andre @4.56 Pinnacle 3/10

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Atlético - MG x Grêmio Gremio I think this game is the better option for today. Atlético-MG has not a great squad. In mineiro championship they finished in second but is has only two clubs in first division (very low level). In copa do brasil Atlético was defeated by Vitoria. Gremio did a great job in Copa Libertadores first phase and is playing a great football. Gremio lost first game against Santos in an amazing free kick in lasts minutes. I think Gremio has good chances to win, is playing away, but Atlético can’t hold the Gremio’s squad.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Gremio Barueri - Fluminense Home team and their coach Estevam Soares will today have good chance for first home win, because they are hosting Fluminense who has his mind on Copa Brasil and game against Corinthians on wednesday. Coach Estevam Soares didn't want to say what formation he will be playing in this game, but one thing is certain, he has all of his players ready. Fluminense on the other hand will save at least 5 players from starting 11 today. Caoch Carlos Alberto Parreira will save Edcarlos, Maurício and Thiago Neves for sure, Fred is injured. Probable squads: Barueri Renê; Marcos Pimentel, Daniel Marques, Leandro Castán e Márcio Careca; Ralf, Leanderson e Everton (Camilo); Thiago Humberto, Fernandinho e Pedrão. Técnico: Estevam Soares. Fluminense Fernando Henrique, Mariano, Cássio, Luiz Alberto e Eduardo Ratinho; Wellington Monteiro, Diguinho, Marquinho e Conca; Maicon e Everton Santos. Técnico: Carlos Alberto Parreira. Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Internacional - Palmeiras Both teams started good in first round of championship. Internacional won away from home against Corinthias, while Palmeiras won at home with mixed squad. Today Internacional will play, but their minds are on Copa brasil. Coach Tite will save in this game minimum 5 and maybe 8 players from starting 11. Main priority is Copa Brasil and they play against Flamengo on wednesday, and that is game of season for them. Índio, Álvaro, and Magrão are all injured, and Guiñazu, D’Alessandro and Nilmar will be saved. Palmeiras coach Vanderley Luxemburgo confirmed that he will play with maximum force, he has no injury or suspension problems. Probable squads: Internacional Lauro; Danilo Silva, Bolívar, Danny Morais e Marcelo Cordeiro; Sandro, Rosinei, Giuliano e Andrezinho; Taison e Alecsandro. Técnico: Tite. Palmeiras Marcos, Mauricio Ramos, Danilo e Marcão; Souza, Pierre, Cleiton Xavier, Diego Souza e Armero; Keirrison e Marquinhos. Absolutely disagree. So yes Inter does have Copa de Brasil on their minds but it is not a priority. Doesn't Palmeiras have to think about Copa Libertadores as well? Palmeiras is also coming off a midweek clash where they had to travel up north played over 120mins, penalties, now travel all the way to one of the most difficult stadiums to play in as visitor AND it's the home opener for the Serie A season.

Ok, but I never writ my picks, and give info that is not verified: About Palmeiras and maximum squad: Pela primeira vez no Campeonato Brasileiro, o Palmeiras vai utilizar a força máxima, já que ganhou folga na Libertadores na semana que vem. About resting players in Inter: O treinador está priorizando a Copa do Brasil, pois o Colorado tem um duelo de vida ou morte na quarta-feira, contra o Flamengo. Por isso, o time deve ter muitas mudanças.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May )

Hmmm you forgot to mention that Nilmar is playing
Mike mate, I don't wanna argue, but do u have any valid info about this Nilmar playing or not? Internacional official web site probable squad: Confira a lista completa: Michel Alves, Lauro, Bolнvar, Sorondo, Danilo, Danny Morais, Marcelo Cordeiro, Sandro, Guiсazu, Andrezinho, Giuliano, Rosinei, Klйber, D'Alessandro, Nilmar, Alecsandro, Taison e Glaydson. I got 3 more sources with more less same probable squad... U? If u think Inter is better pick, make it official pick, and if u r right on the end I will said well gone, this is my pick, my info, and my money on this one...

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) I"m not arguing, I'm having a discussion, we aren't always going to agree, but my understanding is that Nilmar is a definite. I don't always base everything on stats, there's more to know about the Brasilerao than numbers because there is a lot of emotional and internal factors that have to be considered. My sources are from Brasilian mates along with the websites they look into.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Agree, and my picks are never based on statistics or numbers, my picks are almost every time based on starting lineups, because most of Brasilian teams (except Sao Paolo, and maybe Palmeiras and Gremio last year) have solid starting 11 and pretty poor reserves. As far as I know, Nilmar will be saved today, Taison will get chance to play. I'm punting Brasil 5th year now, and in that proces I learned Portugese (just football based words :) ), and doing my reserch alone. I think my sources are pretty solid, and I know away win in Brasil is rare, expecialy when two big teams are playing, but also it's fact that in the start of the season they rest a lot of players when they have Copa Libertadores or Copa Brasil matches in midweek.

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) Internacional -0.25 @ 1.95 (5 Units) Home opener for Inter, coming off a win vs Corinthians in Sao Paulo. The team played in Rio midweek vs Flamengo for the Copa do Brasil and they managed to come out with a 0-0 result though one world class save from their keeper managed to really change the result. Palmeiras come into this match having played midweek vs Sport in the knockout rounds of the the Copa Libertadores. Not only did they have to travel all the way up to Recife, but they played all the way till penalties which they won. Now they travel all the way south to Porto Alegre to play at one of the most difficult home stadiums in the Beira Rio. Fatigue can play a big part in this match up though Palmeiras come in with a full squad knowing that they must continue to show progression. One thing to remember is that Inter's fierce rivals Gremio lost yesterday and this will motivate the team and fans to want to obtain a win. Quite simple, if Gremio loses, Inter must win, if Gremio wins, Inter has to win by more goals. Both teams try to one up each other and it becomes quite an interesting rivalry. Considering Gremio are in the Copa Libertadores and Inter are not, you can expect Inter to really push for some results. Inter will play with their core group though a few defenders may not be available, but the attacking fixture of D'Alessandro, Taison and Nilmar will lead the attack today. I do feel the pace of Inter and their patience will essentially lock down the Palmeiras midfield. If Diego Souza and Cleiton Xavier show signs of frustration, Keirrison will be left all alone with no sort of service. Remember, Inter are a tough nut to crack at home, have not lost to Palmeiras at home in years and I don't expect that to change. Prediction: Internacional 2-0 Palmeiras

Mate no worries, we aren't always going to agree, but it's always nice to have a discussion, considering a whole load of people are always betting on EPL, La Liga, etc. This is a great league to wager on and hopefully we both can learn from one another and make some quality picks this season

Re: Brazil Serie A ( 16/17 May ) International 0, -0.5AH @1.88 (betdaq) - 4/10 Under 2.5 goals @EVS (Boylesports) - 7/10 Both International and Palmeiras started this championship with a win (International beat great Corinthians team away by 1:0, Nilmar was scorer, and Palmeiras won at home v Coritiba 2:1 at 89´ of the game, they were 1:0 down till 70´ and manage to get all three points). There is no doubt that this match will be very hard for away team because they had very tough game in midweek v Sport Recife who ended in penalities. Players must have been tired after that, so I think that it is time for International win tonight but - correct score 1:0. Anyway, my main bet will be goal line betting under 2.5 goals. My opinion will be very hard game for both sides, both of them will try to keep the ball into theirs possesion as much as possible so this match will not be fair looking. Head to head:

21-08-08 Serie A Internacional 4 - 1 Palmeiras
18-05-08 Serie A Palmeiras 2 - 1 Internacional
25-11-07 Serie A Internacional 2 - 1 Palmeiras
10-08-07 Serie A Palmeiras 1 - 1 Internacional
