Curragh 4/5/09

Recommended Posts

3.00 Curragh Mad About You - Dermot Weld's Indian Ridge filly won over course and distance last time out when landing the Group 3 Gladness Stakes and, in the process, took her record when wearing blinkers to two wins from two. She won a listed race at Naas the first time they were fitted in October, and although she was a beaten third in a photo finish at this track over a mile in March, she didn't do much wrong (headgear was left off). Perhaps she didn't particularly enjoy her passage on the rail, flanked by other battling horses upsides, and her last two wins have come when she has had a bit more breathing space and raced down the centre of the track. The form of her last win looks decent as Kargali, back in third, has won a listed race since, ending the winning run of Three Rocks, who was on the fourtimer, whilst Jumbajukiba, who was back in sixth that day, won a listed race at Navan a week ago to boost the form a little further. There are a few unexposed dangers in the field - the likes of Kalidaha, who represents an inform John Oxx, and Jim Bolger's Maoineach is a Group 3 runner that also warrants respect, but I think Mad About You deserves his place at the head of the market. 11/10 Bet 365, 1 pt.

Re: Curragh 4/5/09 Kargali/Lady Deauville 4.00 Curragh Trainer of Famous Name said it would not want heavy ground and that is what it is today. Curtain Call has disappointed in better company and has a lot to prove now, even down at Gp 3 level. Kargali has improved from its first run and won in listed company last time out. It has won impressively on heavy and placed at this track and has a top class jockey on board in Mick Kinane. Race fit and improving and hard to beat if it gets the extra 2f. Lady Deauville is interesting at a massive price and has been waiting for soft ground and is proven in this sort of class and has won over the trip.
