Getting around the £2 minimum bet on Betfair

Recommended Posts

This may be old news to some of you, but I have only been using Betfair regularly for a year or so, and only worked this out today! One some days you want to bet on the exchanges to take the massive prices the layers are offering, but you don't always want to stake £2. Like in the Grand National for example, you can get 500/1 about a horse the bookies are offering at 100/1, and you'd ideally you may want 50p. Well this is how you enable yourself to place bets on BF, taking the juicy odds, without having to stake £2. This might seem silly to big stakes men out there, but if you want a cheeky quid or 50p it may be useful.... Select the horse you want to back and set the stake to £2, but make sure you set the odds to 999 or so, just to make sure the bet isn't matched. Then click sumbit, and the bet is listed on the right under those waiting to be matched. Then adjust the stake to £3 (assuming you want a bet of £1, £2.50 for a 50p bet etc) and click submit again. Your new bet appears on the right, but becomes split into two seperate ones - 1 x £2 and 1 x £1. Click the red box to cancel the £2 bet, leaving you with just a £1 waiting to be matched at high odds. Then bring down the odds for the £1 bet down to a level the layers are likely to match, and there you have it, a £1 bet on betfair!!!!
