Scuffle let herself down on her first crack at a listed prize last time out, finishing 10th of 16 at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Redcar, but prior to that had looked a promising filly indeed. Roger Charlton's daughter of Daylami built upon her 3rd placed debut effort to win at Nottingham next time out and had the classy Crystal Capella (A group 2 winner later last year) and the progressive handicapper PersianSea both behind. She won on her handicap debut at that same track on her third start, beating Sir Michael Stoute's well regarded Lindelaan, and then notched up a hat-trick off 9 lbs higher at Salisbury in July, with subsequent listed race winner Jazz Jam one of those behind. She looked a listed horse in the making prior to that IMO and is worth another chance here after the benefit of a break. Fitness obviously has to be taken on trust but I think there is better to come. 10/3

3.45 Kempton

Flowing Cape - I've been waiting for a while to see this back down over 7f. He has progressed nicely, building upon some smart juvenile form and putting injury troubles behind him with a couple of impressive wins at Wolverhampton over 6-7f. A son of Cape Cross, connections toyed with the idea of running him over further in the Lincoln (for which I backed him) but he failed to get home over the extended mile at Dunstall Park in a Lincoln trial, and whether it was because of missing the cut or whatever reason, didn't make the final line up. He was due to run in the consolation race but was pulled out of the Spring Mile too on the morning, but he would have been a doubtful stayer, and this return to 7f should continue the improvement. He likes to race up with the pace so stall 13 is ideal around here, and with Al Muheer likely to set the tempo from next door, he should be able to go well. 6/1 with Hills.
