Folkestone - 9/4/09

2.40 Rash Judgement 6/1 bet3 bog 5 pts e.w A horse with talent but also a horse full of frustration as his modest win record shows. However the ability is there and being gelded lately could be the sort of thing that wakes him up. At times his form is dangerously decent in this company, a touch unlucky behind corrybrough, twice a fast finisher at good off marks higher than what he is on today. He has also shown in the past he can go well fresh. There looks to be a fairly strong pace today which should suit him and if his jockey can time his late challenge on him correctly he could just deliver for the first time in 2 years or at the worst place. 3.10 Three Moons 10/11 bet3 bog 10 pts The market could tell for some of the newcomers but on form I like this one to open her account. She has been a bit unlucky not to win already, four seconds but they were not seconds that made me feel there was anything wrong with her as there can be like some from her sir. She just seemed to bump into a couple of fellow nice sorts and seem perhaps a bit one paced so the step up in trip should suit and pedigree generally confirms this (don’t quote me Im not an expert on such matters)but being a montjeu it should be helpful and this oaks entry should have a decent chance to get off the mark unless a newcomer is really out of the ordinary.

Re: Folkestone - 9/4/09 2.40 Artistic License ticks every box as far as I can see here, and providing she gets a good run she should take all the beating.

  • Well handicapped - won off 79 at Grl in Sep, runs off 77 here
  • In good heart - 0.75l second last time out despite not getting race run to suit, and race fit as that was 6 days ago
  • Likely to get race run to suit here - with four front runners in opposition, as likes to chase a fast pace
  • Course winner - on debut here in Sep '07
  • Distance winner - from Ling and Grl last year
  • Going winner - from debut
  • Has won in the grade
  • Tony Culhane has won on her before
  • Mick Channon has had winners recently (4-29 in past fornight)
  • As fifth highest rated is in favourable territory in the handicap

She has drifted slightly from 9/2 this morning out to a best priced 11/2 now with money for We Have a Dream perhaps responsible, but seems to have plenty in her favour and at the price I suppose a defeat wouldn't be that hard to stomach.
