Ciclon Posted January 19, 2009 Share Posted January 19, 2009 This tournament starts today in Venezuela and qualifies 4 teams for the Under 20 World Cup that will be played in Egipt next September. Venezuela - Argentina (-1.25) AW 6.5/10 1.96 (SBO) Big quality difference between this teams. Argentina's 11 are all guys with experience in 1st division (some of them like striker Cristaldo, very important for their clubs, Velez), and including ex Boca and currently Liverpool player Emiliano Insua. They arrive at this tournament as favourites to win it, since they are the current World Champions in this category. Venezuela has the advantage of playing at home and not much more. Their only players with international experience are Cagliari player Acosta (midfielder) that has only played 1 game with the 1st team, in 2007. They also have a defender and striker playing in Spain 2nd division but they barely see any action. In 2008 Venezuela played some friendly games in Argentina in preparation for this tournament, losing 5 of 7 games, some against 2nd division games and youth reserves of other teams. This 2 teams played each other in the group stage of the 2007 tournament, with a 6-0 win for Argentina (of course, as this is an u20 squad, both had different players of those they have now).
