Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals 3rd ODI is overnight in Sydney. 4 for me at varying stakes. 5pts Australia -2.5wickets/15.5runs 17/20 Sportingbet Australia just about held their nerve in Hobart to level the series at 1-1 heading to the SCG. That ensures we're in for a top game of cricket here. Australia, buoyed by that success and their win here in the test series should be full of confidence. Although they've shown no signs of it so far, the lure of the plane home can only get stronger with each passing game. Australia have recalled Mitchell Johnson for the rest of the series. Ryan Harris drops out of the side which won in Hobart. Ben Hilfenhaus also looks like missing out as Shaun Tait is set to be recalled. Australia are making no change to their batting lineup which isn't really a surprise. South Africa won't make any changes to their batting either but with their policy of rotating their quicks in this series it could well be Dale Steyn who takes a break. Morne Morkel will come back into the side inhis place should they decide to rest Steyn. On the whole this is a fairly good ground for Australia and generally matches are won here well enough to cover this handicap. Teams batting 1st have an excellent record here so if Australia do bat 1st then I'd expect them to stay 16 ahead of SA but chasing a target down for the loss of no more than 7 wickets is perfectly possible too so it's the Aussies on the handicap for me. 4pts S.Marsh (-3.5 runs) to beat H.Amla 5/6 Ladbrokes As I said in the last ODI when I took Hussey to beat Amla, limited overs cricket isn't his game. Unlike his Western Australian rival who is perfectly suited to this format of the game. He's made 2 solid half centuries so far in this series and he'll be chomping at the bit to get another and convert it into 3 figures in this match. Form wise these two are worlds apart with Amla not yet making double figures in the series. Marsh could be due a failure soon but by the same token he could fail and still win this bet on I'll take Marsh to cover 3.5 runs against the bearded South African. 3pts A.Morkel's Performance Pts - 36&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. I said pretty much all I need to when I took this bet in game 1 of the series at a line higher than this one. Morkel covered it by 42pts that day and I think he'll cover it again today. He had a quiet game by his standards in Hobart but I expect him to be more involved in this game and if Steyn is rested he could well open and close the bowling which would be a massive help. He's classy in all aspects of the game and as I said before I'm always happy to take overs on a 3D cricketer with a line less than 40 so it's overs for me on Morkel's performance. 1pt D.Warner Top Australia Batsman 11/2 Boylesports I'm not a huge fan of win only top bats because over a period of time I can't see how you can win but I'll happily take an opener in world cricket at this price. Whether Boylesports think he's out of his depth at this level I don't know but he isn't. He got a decent ball in Hobart but this Sydney wicket could suit him perfectly. If he gets in he's going to take a hell of a lot of chasing because these boundaries won't be big enough for him. On his home ground he should be happy with the surroundings and 11/2 is a huge price for an opener to top score and with that in mind I'm happy to have a small bet on the big hitting young Aussie.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Decent match for me in the end. Warner top scored for the Aussies and Morkel and Marsh brought their bets in too. Bit annoying my biggest bet lost but I still came out of the game +6.34pts which takes my total for the series to +32.68pts with 2 matches left. Next game is in Adelaide on Monday.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals 4TH ODI 03:15 GMT Australia vs South Africa everyone of these matches have been close to call but i fancy the Aussies to bounce back ar a fairly priced 4/6(bluesq). The fact Boucher is injured is a big loss for SA in terms of leadership and big hitting towards the end of an innings.Still without Smith, so Kallis looks likely to lead the side. Australia Win @ 4/6(bluesq) Shaun Marsh has been in cracking form at the top of the order, looks a natural progressor to the vacancy left by Matty Hayden at the top of the order, the stylish left hander can hopefully oblige. Shaun Marsh Match runs 41 0r 0ver @ 13/10 (bluesq)

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals 4th ODI is overnight. Adelaide is the venue. 4 for me, the same 3 main ones as the 3rd ODI and a small 4th bet. 5pts Australia to win 4th ODI 4/6 Stan James Having lost the 3rd game despite looking in a good position to win it on more than one occasion, Australia travel to the Adelaide Oval on Australia Day having to win to keep the series alive. South Africa know that despite the fact they could have lost all 3 matches so far, a win would sew the series up before the final game in Perth. Nathan Bracken has been ruled out of this match with injury which is a bit of a blow because his type of bowler has tended to be the most dangerous here. Ben Hilfenhaus will replace him so at least it's a swing bowler for a swing bowler. Shaun Tait will play on his home ground. Cameron White will come in for Nathan Hauritz to bolster the batting lineup which has had 3 good starts and failed to capitalise fully on each occasion. South Africa have had to change the makeup of their side with Mark Boucher being ruled out after Shaun Tait finished his toe off with a yorker at Sydney. Morne Morkel will return in his place and AB de Villiers will take the gloves. That looks like being South Africa's only change. Australia have a decent record here. They've won 7 of their last 8 matches here and 27 of 37 overall. South Africa have won 3 of their 4 matches here but this is the 1st time they'll have played Australia on this ground. It's Australia Day so the Aussies will be well up for this, a good crowd is in store and I think Australia will use that to level the series. 4pts A.Morkel's Performance Pts 36&Over 8/11 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. I've said pretty much all I need to with regards to this bet in the 1st and 3rd ODI's when I've taken it and he's covered the total with ease. However in this one he's likely to bowl a full 10 overs with Kallis having discomfort when bowling and with no Boucher, Albie Morkel will probably bat at number 7, in theory giving him longer to bat. As I said in Sydney, 36pts is a line way too low for a 3D cricketer who is a one day specialist and once again I'll take the overs here. 4pts S.Marsh (-4.5 runs) to beat H.Amla 5/6 Ladbrokes Again, as I've said all series Hashim Amla isn't a one day batsman. Ok he was a bit unlucky with his dismissal in Sydney when his beard weighed him down too much to allow him to turn round and get back to the non strikers end but even in the other matches in the series he's looked lost. Shaun Marsh made his lowest score of the series in Sydney and still comfortably beat Amla. Amla is yet to make a score above 13 in this series and although we can expect an improvement at some point, there's still no guarantee he'll improve enough to stay with Marsh who is on a hot streak at the minute. I think Marsh will beat Amla and beat him by 5 runs or more. 1pt Tied 6's 5/1 Bet365 This is a pretty big price considering the Melbourne and Sydney ODI's finished with the sides having tied for 6's. 1-1 in Melbourne and 2-2 in Sydney. Even in Hobart, South Africa only won 1-0 in 6 hitting. So there's plenty of mileage in the tie here. The Adelaide Oval is huge straight down the ground and it's by no means short square of the wicket either. I don't think we'll see too many 6's in this match which would give us more chance of a tie. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see the game end 0-0 in 6's. Both sides are fairly level in terms of big hitters so I'll have a small bet on the tie at a decent price.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Is Kallis going to play? I heard he had a bit of a strain. Sure would be nice otherwise the Duminy series bet looks a little dead. With the short square boundaries here in Adelaide I think I might look for something with Cameron White doing well.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals ^ should have said experience aswell as leadership, appreciate Boucher isn't captain,he would still have had his say from behind the stumps. As for the game, Well, fingers burnt, lessons learnt,:wall This Australia team are very average, i dont want to sound too disrespectful to SA achievements on this tour though. I may still back the Aussies in the 5th ODI depending on price and who SA rest, likely to give Steyn and Ntini a break, Aus will want to salvage some pride, surely.:unsure

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals They will be resting bott Steyn and Ntini, although Parnell will be one to watch out for. Bracken is back which is a massive boost for Australia, and Clarke could be bulking up that shakey middle-order. With odds of almost 2/1 available on South Africa they're worth a bet. Main reasoning is that both Tait and Johnson have failed horribly to keep the South African batsmen at bay, and don't even talk about Hilenhaus! South Africa are going to have a strong batting line up out there, and they'll look to inflict the punishment once more! Australia will be without a spinner and the likes of David Hussey, Cameron White and hugely overrated Mike Hussey could be subject mediocre scores! If it weren't for Ponting in the last game Australia would have stuggled getting past 150! I don't think a couple of changes will make that much of a difference and you'd imagine SA would want No1 spot in the rankings?! They certainly didn't seem to go for it in the Test series!

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Blackout for me on Monday. Back to +18.68 for the series ahead of this final match where I'll have 3 bets although I suppose Duminy top series bat is an outside runner with Kallis not playing in this game. Not batting at Adelaide left him loads to do though. Can't see the Aussies not winning this one. Michael Clarke's a huge boost for them as he can get some decent spin down. Bracken should keep it tight too. 4pts J.Botha's Performance Pts 33&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. Johan Botha has been off his tits in recent matches with the ball. There's no doubt the captaincy has brought some excellent performances out of him. Initially you'd think Perth is a nailed on seamers wicket but that's not actually the case with spinners taking a lot of wickets here in past matches. You'd think we'd need 2 Botha wickets for this bet to come in but there's every chance he'll bat and he's taken plenty of catches in the series so far so as long as he can pick up a wicket, which I'd expect him to because none of the Aussies have played him well so far in the series, I think Botha will cover this total without any problems. He can bat so I'd expect him to get 13 runs given the chance but 2 wickets is far from beyond him so it's overs for the SA captain for me. 5pts Over 5.5 6's 11/10 Blue Square My biggest bet for the match here. There hasn't actually been many 6's in this series when you consider the good positions Australia have regularly been in and the quality in the two sides but to be fair the series has been played on some of the bigger ground in Australia. The WACA is used to seeing plenty of 6's in ODI's as the pitch is perfect and the boundaries not the biggest although still a decent thwack. I've a feeling the Aussies could turn it on and go mental in this game but South Africa will chip in with hits from the likes of Gibbs and Albie Morkel. England and New Zealand hit 10 6's here 2 years ago and I fancy there to be at least 6 in this game. 4pts S.Marsh to beat H.Amla 5/6 Stan James A little bit risky perhaps taking this one but I'm still not convinced with Hashim Amla and hopefully the return of Nathan Bracken will see him back to how he was at the start of the series. Let's be fair, Australia were awful in every facet of the game on Monday so I'm not going to read too much into Amla's innings there despite him playing well. Hopefully with a bigger score to chase and him having to get his skates on he'll go back to failing. Shaun Marsh failed on Monday but that was only down to a seriously good catch by Morne Morkel at 3rd man. Marsh is in really good touch at the minute though and on his home ground you have to expect him to go well, especially as there's no Ntini or Steyn to face up front. Definitely Marsh to win this one for me.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Although both are in good touch, have taken Ponting to outscore De Villiers @ 8/11 with bluesquare, hopefully punter will try and bat as long as he can and hold the Aus innings together, at the same time getting a score, De Villiers got a few last game, but can be inconsistent with it.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Had a look at that myself but AB's ton here in the test put me off it. Marsh on his home ground did it for me and I put him in my 10 to look out for in 2009 too so got to put my money where my mouth is :lol.

Re: Cricket: Australia vs South Africa ODI Series & Twenty20 Internationals Decent enough final match of the series for me finishing +4.84pts with the 6's and Botha's performance coming in. Marsh was disappointing and Duminy ran out of time 25 runs short of top scoring over the series so +2.84pts in total for the day for me to finish the series +21.52pts. Was a really good tour. Can't wait for the return tour next month.
