I have not strict rules about my selections, but nevertheless I will have a method: 1) No doubles, trebles or accumulators. Only Singles. 2) Stakes never to be higher than the 2.5% of my budget. Starting budget is 197.94€, so 5% is ~5€ 3) Looking always for value bets Anyway I will have to fight with the Italian odds... thus overtaxed by the state :( This will make my battle harder. Thats quite a lot of selections you've got there, perhaps you'd be better looking at less leagues and less selections with slightly higher stakes? Most proffesional football betters will specify in one or two leagues and learn it like the back of their hand. That's how they manage to find value by finding information before the bookies do. And you definitely have a point. Actually I don't feel yet so confident in my self to punt higher stakes (and also the leagues that I am more expert in, I think so at least, are not playing today: for instance Italian Serie A and Serie B, they will start next weekend after the winter pause), that's why I prefere to "deresponsabilize" each of my bets with lower stakes. Of course this mean that I will not gain much, but either I am supposed, at least I hope so :) , not to lose much as well... What do you think about this kind of reasoning? If you're looking for profit from this then you're better off staking slightly higher on things you know better rather than just putting small stakes here there and everywhere. For example, if I was betting on the English leagues, I could do a little bit of research on all of the leagues and then put £2 on 12 of the games I think will win etc. - Or I could research one league really hard, looking at it in fine detail, and pick out the best 3 or 4 bets and put £5 on them. Now the risk is the same in terms of stake as you're betting the same amount of money, just on less games that you think are more likely to win. I havn't explained it very well, but research is vital in long-term betting, as is patience. If you have to wait an extra week for your league to play, then you should wait that extra week, unless you're just betting for a bit of fun and interest in some games.
