Re: Snooker: UK Championship Carter 33/1 var 3 pts e.w and 5/1 var to win his quarter 5 pts. Think Carter is a generous price here. Carter has had such a good run recently and is one of the form players around. He showed he was more than up for the longer frame matches when reaching the worlds final and he has proved that was no fluke early this season. He has reached two semis already this season and only final frame defeats have prevented him reaching another final. Sure he went out first round in the last event in bahrain but quite frankly I think little can be made of that and he has subsequently mentioned as such. I dont think his draw is frightening either. Mcculloch, Ebdon are possible opponents before the q/fs and he shouldnt be scared of them atm and whilst Selby looks the biggest threat in this quarter, Carter is capable of beating him. Obviously Ronnie looms at the top but quite frankly what mood he will be in is anyones guess and Carter could well have a strong event. Allen 25/1 var 3 pts e.w and 21/5 ext to win his quarter 5 pts Allen can be a frustarting player at times but there is no denying his talent and his quarter looks fair enough for a player to take advantage and it could well be him. His form also is pretty strong. Having done enough to get into the top 16 last year, he has already reached a semi this season in the last event and also a q/f even though to counter that he has almost typically had two first round exits. Up first he faces Bingham in the type of match he has stumbled up in the past but really he should be looking to win, Murphy in the second round is not that fearsome now given his complete lack of form and suddenly Allen could be in the q/fs where the likes of Trump, Hendry could be bigger threats but equally not players he should be that scared of. Certainly the middle two quarters look the ones that lack the most depth and thats why have I have concentrated on them with my two picks.
