Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec Folk 1.30 The Old Pretender 1pt win This could turn out to be quite a decent novice contest especially for the track. There seem three main ones to concentrate on. Awesome George was a good winner lto and Martys Mission has performed well enough on his first two starts. However I think the hurdling debutant The Old Pretender is a very interesting recruit. He was so impressive in his first start in a bumper when he won so easily and got quotes for the fest. bumper after that run and they were justified as the style of his first win was just so impressive. Indeed it was considered good enough for him to start co fav. for a grade 2 after that where possibly he underachieved a bit but looking back at it now, it wasnt as bad a run. The winner mad max and the second the nightingale are good horses and the old pretender initially couldnt live with their extra pace but he plugged onto be fifth. Looking at that I think the decision to start him off at 2 and a half miles is fairly justified, judging by his first win he should like the ground, it will be interesting to see how he gets on and he might just be good enough to win on hurdling debut.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec My first post on here for ages! :nana Goign to TRY to be more active on here again and how better to begin than on the 1st December?! 1.55 Fakenham LAY Little Shilling (RPF 8/11) I just have to take this one on today the ground is only going to get softer over at Fakenham and this jolly's form has all been on firmer ground. Real challengers, on paper, seem few and far between BUT this will be this workaholics 4th run in 14 days and that workload combined with the slighty unfavourable ground means i'm hoping an outsider can plod on and upset the applecart. Orchard House is probably the main contender to do this but I also think Goscar Rock could run well at a decent price. :hope

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 230 Folkestone: Ballyveeney Backed this one last time at a big price and wasnt disgraced, made some late headway before being eased and now goes straight into a handicap. The trainer does well with this type and she has found a very soft race here.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 15:20 Fakenham Nordwind (IRE) Runner from the Evan Williams & D P Fahy combo. The duo comes into today winning at 25% together, 26 wins from 102. Fahy runs for Nordwinds owner Peter Conway has 4 wins from 6 this year (3 with Simarian and 1 with Vibe). Nordwind remains a maiden after three hurdle starts but all showed he's capable of being a winner. He's dropped into a Class 5 after all three being Class 3 events so it should be easier here. 1pt win

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 15:10 Wolverhampton - Orphaned Annie Not the easiest races to solve but I like Orphaned Annie here, Ran on the all-weather at Southwell last time out and ran a decent race when finishing 3rd of 12 runners, She should improve for that run and she is stepping down in class here. All-weather specialist George Baker takes the ride and that is a big positive. 1pt win

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 5.10 Wolverhampton Climate would be dangerous on the pick of his form but he's lost his way a little bit of late. King of Connacht is only 1 lb higher than when winning an apprentices handicap at Southwell in May but did little on his only try here previously. Bailiebrough used to be a decent turf horse but seems to have lost his ability judging on recent performances so the safest bet looks to be Moyoko. She won over course and distance last November off a 6 lb lower mark and ran a decent second to Plush in a 0-60 handicap here last time off 51. She's won off 51 a few years ago at Kempton, and could have a chance running off 54 here with the useful Andrea Azteni claiming a further 5 lbs. 1 pt win

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec Folkestone 1.00 - Don't Be Bleu - win Only 4 runners line up for the novice chase and this one is on her chase debut. She was the best of the 4 over hurdles and has 3 wins to her name which at least shows an ability to get her head in front It looks like a poor race and she won't have to be special to win on her chase debut. Trainer P Bowen knows how to train chasers, viz Snoopy Loopy, Yes Sir etc, so hopefully she'll be well schooled to jump the fences.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec W2.10 Stravita 0.5pt E/W Trainer in good form and he does particularly well on the AW. The horse has course form and the jockey is arguably one of the better ones in this amateur riders race. Possibly given too much to do last time and hopefully will make a move sooner today, should be staying on towards the end.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 2.10 Wolves: York Cliff LTO finished close up 2nd to Cumbrian Knight at Southwell (holds Blue Hills on that form too) - 1lb better off with that the winner today so shouldn't be much to choose between them. Drawn well today and every chance of going one better in tight looking handicap on favourable surface. Has won here 3 times before so shouldn't be far away again today. WIN

:sad But not too upset with this at all. Two of his most likliest rivals were NRs so would have been a No Bet if i'd have done this. Goscar Rock placed @ 10/1 too so not too shabby at all for my return to ATR! :ok

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec TARATEENO 2.30 Folkestone. 1 point win. Probably needed the run last time, so with dropping down to a mark of 95 and with the heavy ground making this a stern test, he certainly has the ability and form claims to go close. Jockey no mug and so he'll do for me with the others all having their questions to answer.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec SHEPHERD'S WARNING 2.40 Wolverhampton. Out of form, but if you check his wins and his mark for this afternoon, then you have to feel he can go well. I'm also banking on the first time visor making him put it all in and if that's the case then he should go close over a course and distance he enjoys. 1 point win.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec my best bet of the day would be iron hague 250 fake. 1 pt win. needs to find more to beat a couple in this race, especially the favourite, but with the favourite open to a bounce and others having their questions to answer, we can just jump around in ground we like and over a trip we like and get the best of it. odds are there to take the chance.

Re: Best bet of the day 1st Dec 5.10 Wolves - Eternal Optimist Looking at its past form it seems as though it enjoys this distance and also prefers the standard ground, Norton on board too and I reckon he'll be able to give this a horse a good ride 16/1 at the moment so an e/w bet looks good value here, lets start this month postively please! :D 1pt e/w

2.20 Fakenham - Cool Roxy (RPF 3/1) - lay At the age of 11 and up 7lbs for recent win I can't see him winning here. There are some decent sorts carrying less and Cool Roxy might struggle of top weight on the soft surface.
:clap
