Definition of tournament value

What is generally considered as value in terms of tournament prizes and number of entrants versus buy-in? For example, PokerKings have a €3000 gtd 21.30GMT, €40+4 buy-in. 75 entrants would be required to "fill" the €3000. Currently 30 entrants with 10 minutes left to register. Is this value? At how many entrants does the value "disappear" in your opinion?

Re: Definition of tournament value I view "Value" as an "overlay" divided by number of players.... So €3k / €44 = 68 - I would say the value disapears with the overlay at 68 entrants (dont forget to count the rake). If there were 50 entrants, then I would count the value as: (€3k - (50 x €44)) / 50 = €16 per player What that means is that for €40+€4 you are really buying yourself a €60+€0 tournament - you're playing for higher stakes than you're paying....

Great reply, thanks alot....! :) Decided not to play it, as the number of entrants increased drastically the last minutes, to land at 70+ The same tourney last night attracted 76 players.

Re: Definition of tournament value It depends :tongue2 If I'm planning on playing a random tournament anyway, then any overlay I can get instead is good (better than the alternative random tournament) :) For freerolls I used to consider 50c to $1 playable, and greater than $1 as good - now though I'm less motivated by freerolls than I used to be :loon
