Blackpool Billy:

Good record over hurdles with 3 wins and 2 places from 6 runs. Has Ran 3 times on soft ground in Britain; winning 2 & placing once. Also ran 1 race on heavy, on which he won. Is well fancied to go well over fences. Trainer hasn’t had a winner recently, though does have a slight record here. Hasn’t ran for 233 days.

Bywell Beau:

Another pretty good hurdler who was rated 142 at his peak. Has had 3 chases to his name already; placing in 2 of them. A Kelso expert over hurdles though the switch to a right-handed track today will certainly benefit him as he jumps violently to the right on occasions, actually running off in his other race over fences when he was cruising to victory. Going shouldn’t be a problem as has won on softer ground a few times.

Camden George:

Decent hurdling record with 1 win & 5 places from 7 races. Has ran on soft ground 4 times finishing 1st once and 2nd the other 3 times (1 of which being here at Carlisle). Hasn’t ran for 583 days & could probably do with a run. Trainer is in good form though and has a 42% place rate from 102 runs here.

Mister Watzisname:

Ran poorly LTO but that can be ignored as jockey wasn’t happy with him to start with. Loves the soft/heavy ground & his 2 wins from 5 races have come on that. Is a very good jumper so should take to the fences well. Distance should suit & trainer is in pretty good form recently.

Pamak D’Airy:

Originally a chaser over in France back at the star of 2007 placing in 2 of 4 races all on soft ground. Was brought to Britain and was converted to a hurdler though it never really happened for him winning just 1 pretty poor race. His experience could be useful here and certainly can’t be written off.

Competitive race this with quite a few runners having pretty good form over hurdles or at least a couple of good runs over fences. Bywell Beau has a great chance but his jumping really isn’t very safe. Blackpool Billy has a chance here even though he hasn’t ran for 233 days.

Suggestion:

Blackpool Billy – E/W @ 7/1 RPF :hope

Re: Carlisle 10/11/2008 1.55 Graduation Chase If you're thinking of backing the likely favourite Faasel ( Evens in RP forecast ) here's something to bear in mind........... Since he went jumping Faasel has run in 11 races where the field size was in double figures He's won 5, been placed in 3 and unplaced in 3. The 3 that he was unplaced in were all Championship races - The Champion Hurdle, The Arkle and the Punchestown Festival World Hurdle. On the other hand he's run in 13 races where the field size was in single figures and lost all 13. Just the 7 runners in today's race ! Of course it might be that his class will see him home or it might be that he needs the 'cover' of a big field to give his best.
