Warwick - 6/10/08

1.50 Summers Target 15 pts Put this up the last two times and both times it has suffered slightly frustrating defeats. However Im going to give it another chance tomorrow. Has posted three runs so far and they have all been decent enough, second on debut behind useful derbaas when interestingly put in the same maiden that the tariner had won the year before with the useful city leader, was pegged pack late on by brief candle at san in a race that has seen some come out and win/run well and then lto it got a strange ride really. He was free early on but he was totally isolated by spencer on what seemed the worst place to be throughout the whole of that card, eventually it would weaken into third. However the second that day has won since so early signs are that was a fair maiden as one would expect for that track. He is dropping down in trip to 6f and certainly he has showed so far he is not short of speed and if anything hasnt quite fully got home in the odd race. Ground a bit of an unknown but the odd mr greely can go on softer and if he takes to it it shoudl take an above average one to beat him. 2.50 Bouvardia 15 pts A bit of a hype filly to some extent but to be fair has also proved it on the track too. On debut ran a cracker only just to be caught late on by subsequent group 2 placed/listed winner, then just went down again at sails but to be fair the front two pulled nicely clear and then did get off the mark at yarm when moved down to 6f and showing lots of speed to make all. form of that race I think is decent, second considered good enough for group 1 afterwards and fourth was so impressive on sat in million race when winning and indeed has been given guineas quotes since. She was actually in the group 1 on fri at hq until late on and I think she might well have been a real place contender for that race and the decision to put her in a nursery off just 83 could well seem lenient after this race. Strong claims for me.

Re: Warwick - 6/10/08 2.20 Mullein will be looking to make up for her disappointment in the Ayr Silver Cup LTO when she was sent off favourite but finished midfield. Perhaps the heavy ground was too much for her that day? Ralph Beckett's filly is still lightly raced and if that last run, in a big field at a higher class (2) than this, can be forgiven, then she is one of the leading contenders for this class 4 sprint. She is now 8 lbs above her last winning mark, but showed at Windsor that she could mix it with some fair sorts who are rated higher than her 85 here. She comfortably beat 86-rated Osiris Way, who boosted the form with a win NTO, and she also had 88-rated Diriculous well held and that rival won NTO off 88. She is proven on this ground (if it is Gd/Soft as Sport Life say, although RP say it is soft) and picked up her win at Windsor at class 3 level so although she is up in the weights here she has to find little improvement now she is down in grade.
