Beverley 3.30 Dandy Nicholls is a trainer in good form at present and saddles Mr Toshiwonka for this class 5 handicap over 7 furlongs. After being well beaten on his Redcar debut Nicholls' gelding has finally kicked on and was a course and distance scorer here in August off a 4 lb lower mark. He had a favourable draw that day, as he does this afternoon (stall 10) and had the favourite, Handsome Falcon, and 67-rated Johnny Lester's Hair behind. The latter has ran well since off 67 again to suggest that he is worthy of that rating, which bodes well for Mr Toshiwoka who runs off 62 here and should confirm placings again today 1 lb better off. Prior to that he had finished 2nd in a Redcar maiden behind Uace Mac with the field quite spread out. The 3rd and 4th have put in fair efforts since and the 5th won a maiden NTO before landing a nursery handicap off 63 on his handicap debut. He won't mind the ground given that his best two performances have come when there has been cut in the ground and as a CD winner he warrants respect here off what looks like a winnable mark.

Re: Beverley 23/9/08 2.30 Oldjoesaid Been following all season & was reasonably happy last time out when after being slowly away, ran on to reach a creditable 4th. Needs a bit of cut in the ground as career figures are 1-1-1-4 on ground g/soft or worse. Hoh Mike would be the one for the f/cast.
