Scoop 6 Selections - Sat 9th Aug

Recommended Posts

In view of the current thread on here discussing the possibility of setting up a Scoop 6 syndicate I thought we should have a little go today and, for fun, see if we can find the winners between us or at least manage the place payout bewtween us. Would get expensive to back every horse put up in here if there is quite a bit of interest, but lets just use it as a trial run and see what problems we could run into if we set the syndicate up for real. The 6 Scoop races today are: 2.00 Hayd 2.40 Newm 3.00 Redc 3.10 Hayd 3.35 Redc 3.50 Newm Struggled to make a selection in two of the races but in the other four my sporting selections are these: 2.00 Harbour Blues – ran well at Ripon off 84 LTO when only defeated by 0.75 lengths. Won over CD three runs ago in a large field beating the useful Cape Vale by a head. Handled Gd/Sft ground okay on debut. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

2.40 Steele Tango – Backed this one in June, just because it was high in the handicap, when it won at good odds at Sandown. Ran well enough in two races since, including when registering a neck second here running off 90 on similar ground to this. Was put up 4 lbs for last run at Goodwood but didn’t have the pace to reach the winners. Up a further 1 lb here but he looks a consistent sort on turf and as a 3 yo there may still be more up his sleeve.

3.35 Violent Velocity – was very unlucky at York a few weeks ago when getting collared by Blue Spinaker on the line and ran well off 79 on two subsequent runs off 79, including in a class 3 race at Chester LTO. I’m a fan of Fredi Tylicki and he takes over from Jamie Kyne in the saddle today, although he too can still claim 7 lbs.

3.50 Celtic Sultan – back down to a winning mark now and to be fair ran a good race off 3 lb higher at Royal Ascot, when leading for quite a way before fading at the end. Dropping in weight could make all the difference. Has won here before and won’t mind the big field. Gone well on Gd, Gd/Sft at Chester in the past to suggest today’s going shouldn’t inconvenience.

Re: Scoop 6 Selections - Sat 9th Aug Here's a couple for the melting pot. 2.00 Hay. Joseph Henry-last few runs have been in Class 2 h/caps and best show so far last time out. Wouldn't want the ground to be too soft and interesting jockey booking (a female!) but I'm sure Mr Nicholls knows what he is doing and the 7lbs could be a valuable deduction. 3.00 Redcar Follow The Flag-Has changed stables after running respectively at Windsor & Goodwood wins have come an the All Weather but has improved on Turf last two outings. 3.10 Hay. Drill Seargeant-Although up 3lb in the ratings he is running off a lower weight than last time in the same class of race (8.8 to 8.5) and has also improved upon second to last running when stepped down in trip to 10f. Also should have no problems if there is any further rain.
