  1. Re: New Year gambles landed I love the quote "No wonder Barry Dennis was ranting" This is a bit rich, as you never here him consling an odds on loser! I've always found this man a bit insufferable on and off the TV.
  2. Re: Northern Hemisphere International Rugby Matches Well done b10111, excellent call! :clap Don't write of England just yet though, inexperience is what cost them on Saturday and a lot of the reporting on the game was not justified. I agree with you that you need to look at the neutral's take on sides and the English press have been overly harsh on the England performance! The Bokka play a brand of Rugby unlike any of the other nations, England tried to beat them physically and no one can do this. You need to play the Boks like a boxer with no knock out punch, bob and weave and win on poi
  3. Re: Northern Hemisphere International Rugby Matches I am glad the Rugby forum on Pl is beginning to grow, I am a massive Rugby fan and I appreciate everybody who takes the time to post their views, especially you b10111, as I have respected your views each time that you have posted. But I am afraid I am going to have to disagree with you massively on this one! This is not a good Bokka side and in reality it is second string at best and they have at least five players who would normally be on the bench! England on the other hand are arguably at full strength and playing with fire in their b
  4. Re: Leicester Tigers vs Wallabies Apologies for the late post! Not one to get to stuck into but it looks like Leicester have come to party! By picking a good looking set of forwards, the Aussies will certainly get some scrummage practice, whether they like it or not! Leicester's defence has not been brilliant (by their own high standards) and the weather will certainly play its part, one to enjoy me thinks! Good luck everyone! Weather not that bad & Aussies looking pretty good with ball in hand!
  5. Re: Rugby Union 29th-31st Toulouse v Toulon Key players missing for Toulon and Toulouse have rejected French internationals, David Skrela, Vincent Clerc, Louis Picamoles and Clément Poitrenaud in their side, means Toulon face an uphill struggle! I expect a similar result to last weeks win over Perpignan (38-29) for Toulouse, maybe not as high scoring. Toulouse winning margin 6-10 & 11-15 Stade Toulousain44 - 5Toulon:puke Clermont v Stade Francais Clermont have not lost at home this season & have scored plenty of tries as well, Montpellier have the best record against th
  6. Re: Rugby Union 29th-31st Hi homercleese, Racing 1-10 with Paddy Power only 6/4, so you could be right on the pummelling front! But maybe it is just a good call by the Bookies as I do not see much in th result for this game. I hate to say it but you are right about the Munster game, they may well prove too strong for the Ulstermen tonight.
  7. Re: Rugby Union 29th-31st Not an easy set of fixtures to predict this Friday, I'll certainly not be going over the top with the £'s, but here goes anyway! Scarlets v Glasgow Scarlets have come out of the first set of European games in slightly better shape than Glasgow & especially after their win against Cardiff last week. Glasgows last trip to the valleys ended in a 12 point loss to the Dragons. Scarlets are missing Stephen Jones & Ceri Sweeney, so this may impact on their points scoring ability and Glasgow also have a fairly good record against the Scarlets. Taking all of th

  10. Re: Drill Sargeant Not wishing to detract from Mr McCoy either! I thought the horse pulled its way to the front after stopping rather than being urged and I felt the horse got to the front too soon for Tony McCoy. But there is no one better at urging a horse home and Mr McCoy did ride out his customary classy finish! It was a joy to watch, as you can imagine all those layers must have gone through a roller coaster of emotions, in complete contrast to the backers! :lol
  11. Re: Rugby Union 22nd-24th Hi Homer, sorry to hear your bad news! The only reason that I can think of and I suffered this but only slightly this week, is that the Rugby markets don't stand up to too much money being laid on them. Take Edinburgh v Ulster, when I posted on Thursday it was -4, against Edinburgh & when I went to place my bet on Friday, The handicap had gone out to -6! This is the first week I have not posted all the handicaps, but if memory serves me correctly the games you mentioned, their handicaps would have been around 8-12 points against the home sides and so I am
  12. Re: Rugby Union 22nd-24th Leicester 21 - 15 Bath Closer than I would have liked & very squeaky bottom in the closing minutes! Lost out on the handicap but more than made up for it with the 6 point winning margin. :clap Toulouse 38 - 29 Perpignan No report on this match yet but just got in for the winning margin of 9. :clap
  13. Re: Rugby Union 22nd-24th Toulouse v Perpignan Toulouse home record is formidable to say the least and this game will see two sets of forwards go toe to toe, to see who is argueably the best in France! Perpignan have continued to improve both home & away, as the season has progressed & the +8 start on the handicap is quite tempting. My only worry about Perpignan is that, apart from Bayonne (who have since slipped away), they are yet to play any of the big teams away from home yet! Toulouse should win as they probably have the edge in the back line but it will be close! Toulouse
  14. Re: Rugby Union 22nd-24th Leicester v Bath Not too much strong form to go on here, Leicester have only played Exeter & Leeds at home so far this season, winning both. Leicester nearly came unstuck against Exeter but still managed a ten point winning margin (37-27). Bath have played Leeds away and Northampton, where they got thumped 31-10 and their record in the last four games in all comps is P4 W2 L2. Leicester h'cap -8 winning points margin 6-10 & 11-15
  15. Re: Rugby Union 22nd-24th Friday, 22 October 2010 Aviva Premiership Rugby Leeds Carnegie 3-6 Sale Newcastle 13-15 Saracens The Championship Worcester 21-23 Cornish Pirates The Magners League Cardiff Blues 10-16 Scarlets Edinburgh 21-16 Ulster Munster 39-13 Benetton Treviso Saracens snatch a win late into injury time, but not by enough for me & I cannot wait to read the report on this one! Edinburgh almost covered the handicap, but I hope people took my advice and avoided what sounded like a shocker at Leeds. :)
