SportAthletics
EventMen's 200m Final (Break World Record?)
SelectionYES
Strength10/10
Date20/08/2008
Bookmaker/Price>Betfair @ 3.45 (Back)
ReasoningUsain Bolt has been absoutely flying at the olympics breaking the 100m record with ease, He looked like he was actually jogging to the line, Oustanding. Now, this is hes specialist event...He wasn't sure if he was even going to run the 100m before the start of it. He has looked impressive in the heats and I think he can break this world record too. The bloke is something special.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games

in the womens hockey semi-final, Holland are a tasty 1.85 on BF to beat Argentina, The Dutch girls won pool A easily, winning 5/5, scoring 14 goals and only conceding 3.Argentina qualified in second behind Germany in pool b winning 3 and drawing 2, scoring 13 but conceding 7, GB held them to a 2-2 draw after being 2-0 down, anyone of 3 teams could have qualified in second, but they all tended to beat each other. Holland are definately the % pick here, Holland WIN @ 1.85 netherlands.gif
Holland 5-2 Argentina FT Easy Winners:beer great call on the Bolt aswell, Spooner.:clap:beer

Re: 2008 Olympic Games

Saw something like 4.2 on Betfair just before the off:eek:eek
I know the price drifted all day, I could of traded out for a decent profit, but thought he had very little chance, he wanted it badly and got it, he totally surprised me, firstly how much he went for it and to actually break it, he smashed his P.B.
:lol Unlucky Karel, Geezers on another level though.
Well done mate, porridge it is all week then. A lot of people were whinging about doing their money on betfair, very few backers all day, just got laid and laid, so fair play to you and hope you made plenty of beer money, I just did not seem him doing it at all. The guy really is a freak.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Unlucky Karel mate. Glad you've made some money out of my bets. Hopefully Idowu does the business for us tomorrow too. Good call Spooner :ok. I've got 3 going for me in finals tomorrow but I'm going to add two. 10pts M.Rooney to win Mens 400m w/o Wariner & Merritt 13/8 Stan James British athletes are being seriously overlooked in these games and I've already profited from that in the womens version of the 400m where we now have a world and olympic champion. Martyn Rooney has a similar style to Ohuruogu. He's not someone who goes off too quickly. He'll stay in touch in the 1st 200 and then bomb home like he did in his semi final where he came into the straight 6th but came through for 2nd. Chris Brown rates as the obvious danger here but he can be known to go off too quickly and I really think that there is a medal up for grabs for the British athlete here. I think Wariner and Merritt will take 1st and 2nd respectively but 3rd is wide open. Rooney, like Ohuruogu has got quicker in every round so far and his fastest time of the competition is expected in the final and it's a time I expect to be quick enough to give Britain their 3rd track medal of these games. 10pts B.Spotakova to win Womens Javelin 4/6 VC Barbora Spotakova is the leading womens javelin thrower this season by some distance. She qualified for this final with the longest throw of the qualification process and she also did it with her first throw which was impressive. It would appear that this gold medal will be between the Czech, Spotakova and the German woman Christine Obergfoll. Spotakova is way out in front this year. Her best throw of 69.15m is the leading throw in the world by well over a metre such is her almost dominance of this event. In what would appear a 2 horse race, although Britain's Goldie Sayers isn't completely without a chance, the German will probably have to throw a seasons best to beat the consistant Czech but Spotakova is that consistant that I think she'll have too much for everyone here.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Gonna add another one before the price completely disintegrates. 10pts Russia to win Womens 4x400m relay 9/4 Blue Square USA are the favourites for this event and are odds on but I think this could turn into a real cracker of a race. Russia, Jamaica and GB will all believe they can win this event. Russia could well argue that they are favourites for the title now. They had 3 women in the 400m flat final and another one in the 400mH final too. USA can only offer 3 finalists in those two events and two of those were in the hurdles race with one of them coming last. Jamaica also had 3 while GB will put forward the olympic champion and most likely the bronze medallist from the 400m hurdles. I really don't think the American's are running well enough to win this. In fact I think this is a wide open race but I think the Russians probably have the best quartet going here and 9/4 is a decent enough price for them to pip the rest to the final womens track and field gold medal.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games Decathlon men Well, Clay is the fav and rightly so, with Seberle off the injury and the others like Kravcenko not quite near to these two. Anyway, I'm going to have what classifies a strictly price lay of Clay @ 1.36. Let's face it - even when Sebrle was at his best, Clay was vulnerable and off an injury four years ago, Sebrle's price was 2.5 before the start of the even which was about right. I would accept evens as things are, BUT 1.36 (to lay, even shorter to back) for a ten-round, two-day event in the conditions that are not exactly friendly is madness. Again, he may win, but the odds are inflated like hell.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games I have had 4 bets tonight in a all up parlay. *Womens Soccer Germany (NT) I watched both the german and japan girls play last match and i am of the strongest opinion that the japan girls just do not have the class of the germans. *Womens Soccer Brazil (GOLD MEDAL) Again i watched both these teams play last start and let me just tell you this Brazil are going to be next to impossible to stop as they just have to much attacking flair for the USA. *Womens 1500m JAMAL(GOLD MEDAL) *Mens Hockey AUSTRALIA to beat Spain in (NT)

Re: 2008 Olympic Games

SportVolleyball, 3rd Place Match
EventRussia - Italy
SelectionRussia (-1.5)
Strenght 10/10
Date24/08/2008
Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 1.8 (Back)
ReasoningTommorow is the last day of Olympics and I've found a reasonable bet. According to the things I saw during volleyball competition (and I've trying to watch as many games as possible due to the fact I used to play volleyball and I treat this discipline very serious), I can't see Russia without getting a medal. In the group stage they lost only one game - against Poland, after 5 sets. Hovewer, they gained the victory against the world's strongest team (in my opinion) - Brazil and showed, that they have abilities to win with everyone. In comparison, Italy played only one good game during the tournament - in quarterfinals against Poland - as well, after 5 sets battle. In semis, against Brazil, apart from first set, which Brazil simply "slept" and lost, Italy was the same team as in the group stage - not making lots of actions, but waiting till their opponent makes a mistake. And in my opinion it would be not enough for Russia. Russia plays more technical volleyball, they have one of the best playmakers in the world and do not wait until someone makes a mistake - Russia tries to create actions. I can't explain it better - simply: Russia is in my opinion 3rd strongest team in the world, and Italy, with a lot of injuries before Olympics, achieved even more they deserved. Bookies pay 1.4 for Russia to win bronze medal, but I prefer -1.5 set handicup.
