Form books

Recommended Posts

Anyone else use them and which do you reccommend? I know Ginge swears by Timeform, I just bought a small horses to follow flat 2008 book by Timeform, not bad. I also bought The Form Book, Flat Annual 2008, (Raceform) which has all results from 2007. I picked it up thinking it was the timeform book but its actually raceform and is just all the results that also seem to be on the Racing Post site. I don't like the way the book is set out at all, it has every race in date order but no index of where to find a horses form. For example if I want to look at all the runs of Peeping Fawn I can't go to the index and find each page the horse is on, instead I'll have to find out when it ran (probably using RP site) and then go to each page to look at that form. It has a list of speed ratings and lots of stats which is pretty good and course info etc but the actual form setout is poor. :(

Re: Form books Nowadays I just tend to use internet resources, basically the Post and Life sites....... Until recently I liked the Superform site........but as you probably all know it's folded in the last few weeks.........:( In the olden days when I used to buy books I subscribed to the weekly 'Superform' book.......you got sent a weeks results at a time to put in a loose-leaf binder........ I also bought the Raceform Annual but after a couple of months of the season you were looking at it less and less as this seasons results built up.......I also used to keep the pull-out Results Section from Raceform Update and about once every 5 or 6 weeks would buy a Timeform Black Book.......... Trouble with all of them was the same.........by the time they were published horses had run again and the form was getting out of date....... The internet has been a fantastic invention for us turfistes..........:clap
