MONSIEUR 3.15 HEXHAM McCoy and Haslam are always worth a second look when teaming up and more so here where McCoy has won 11 races from just 24 mounts. Haslam’s record here isn’t too bad either. 36 runners have seen him saddle 9 winners. Over hurdles that becomes 5 from 25. However, when those hurdlers start at 5/1 or less that record improves to 4 runners with 3 winners and a place. Monsieur looks sure to be given a soft lead and McCoy should get the fractions right. In the last ten years no horse priced at 9/1 or higher has won this race and with the current tissue indicating there will be only four under this threshold further enhances his chance as his main rival, Storm Prospect, comes from a yard who is 1 from 45 with their handicap hurdlers here. Furthermore the stable have only had one winner in their last 15 runners and are 24 days without a winner. Cumbrian Knight hasn’t won over jumps for three years and is 0 from 6 on this ground. Teviot Lass comes from a yard that has not saddled a winner for 79 days and has yet to win in 8 outings including 4 over this distance. Monsieur is entered at Worcester in four days time in a tougher race than this so the hint should be taken.

Re: Hexham 14th June 2008 Agree with Mlmrob, with the second fav a NR the race looks set up for Monsieur to lead all the way, will be short now though and one word of warning, until last time out he had never been entered on Firmer than good in 4 years! Little Lu looks progressive and should win the first without much fuss but will be around 4/7 I reckon, I'm going for a slightly risky bet with Bobbing Cove in the handicap hurdle later on; 420 Hexham : Bobbing Cove EW A couple of short ones should win at Hexham but this one is tempting at around 14/1 so looks the best value bet for me. Been struggling for a while now but last time at Perth showed a glimmer of hope and the stable have done similar things with English City and The Saltier Tiger in the past and has dropped to a very good mark. I wouldnt want to get involved unless the improvement was confirmed normally but this race is very poor so must have a chance. Hope it runs better than my last three 'tips', two pulled up and one got injured!!
