Went for the first time today, hadn't read the Post before I went so I had no idea what I was in store for. Firstly from the M25 it is very easy to find, it's a very easy journey. I think it's a fair running track although the surface isn't quite there yet. It's a bit fluffy and still hasn't quite bedded down yet. Apparently cold weather/frost is the best thing to speed up that process. The rest of the track, at the moment, its a disgrace to be honest. Like a building site. Water and mud EVERYWHERE. I'm sure it'll look the part when it's finished, I'm not sure when that will be though. Owners and trainers 'stand' (a terrace basically) is on the winning line but track level - also the owners and trainers bar is on the other side of the course? Not sure if they are currently using a temporary bar at the moment. Flawed design if not. There are many outdoor tables and chairs which I would imagine would be full of lager louts next year - my worry is that they are about 10 yards from the paddock. Is that a good idea? The bookmaker area looks very small, there are about 10 books there at the moment, can't see how there would be room for more. If you're planning on going soon, wear your wellingtons.
