Nothing original but I fancy these two today. 3.10 - Jewelled Dagger - decent effort on reappearance, won on firm and over a mile before. Robert Winston rides. 11/4 VC Bet 3.40 - Angus Newz - previous course and distance winner who was only 1.5 l off Bentong off this mark LTO. Both his wins came over this trip last season and has proven itself on firm ground. 11/8 VC Bet about 8/1 for the double with VC Bet.

Re: Ripon 18th May 310 Ripon - Fremen @ 13/2 Stan James Ideal conditions for this one today - 1 mile on good/firm ground has produced form figures of 231114. This season has seen an unsuccessful stint in Dubai, followed by 3 runs on turf - all of which were on softer ground than he wants. Last time out was more encouraging, racing over 7f on yielding ground, he kept on in the final stages to be a closing 5th of 16. The extra furlong here should be ideal. The stable had 4 runners yesterday with 2 winners and a 9/1 placed effort. The exception was a 14/1 unfancied runner. Nicholls has previously stated the horse wants a lot of pace in his races and he seems guaranteed to get that today with My Paris and Jewelled Dagger in the field. Everything looks set up for a big run and 13/2 in a 8 runner field looks outstanding each way value.
