2.50 - Straight Face (4/1) - Ashley Hamblett is back in the saddle today after a cameo from Spencer last time out when it was foiled in its bid for the four-timer. Hamblett knows how to ride it, and partnered it to victory earlier this month at Kempton. Up 3 lbs from last run but Hamblett claims 5 lbs today to give it a real chance. Trip no problem although will be hoping to open his account at this track on its fourth attempt. One possible danger is Marmooq (4/1), who has also been putting in his best performances at Kempton but does have a Wolverhampton win to his name from earlier in his career. Form figures of 11231 show he has coped with being upped from contesting classified races (11) to handicaps (231) and he is only 1 lb higher that from his win LTO. Newgate is the 10/3 fav after causing a 50/1 upset here over CD at the weekend. However, his form going into that race was far from convincing to I'm taking him on with theaforementioned pair.

Re: Wolverhampton 25/4/08 2.15 Skadrak 4/5 15 pts Finally set to make its second start. On debut good effort as Ive spoken about before behind Atlantic Sport who looks a nice prospect even though he didnt quite boost the form as much as I thought he would in a group 2 afterwards. Going back to that first run he was one of three in line at the finish with the rest well beaten and yet the fourth, fifth and sixth have boosted that form by winning since. The entries say it all about how the horse is fancied, guineas, st james palace and i expect he will be tough to beat. Us pedigree suggests a/w wont be a huge problem and after all why would it be risked on that surface if new trainer Meehan didnt think it was worth it. Slugger O Toole was quite eyecatching last week but he has bumped into one here.
